The Phillies were busted doing something similar in 2009 or 2010 if I recall.  And I agree, it's not that damming IMO.  Just expect that you'll get plunked and deal with it.  Like all season.  Did the pitcher go over board with the expressions, sure.  But it was hilarious and baseball needs a little animosity.  8 game suspension is excessive.

The second someone gets a 95 mile an hour heater to the temple it’ll be a different story.

Also think it’s a **** move to throw at a guy when you don’t get in the batters box yourself.

Saw plenty of it on Twitter. Wasn’t saying I saw it here.

One of those jars behind him on the shelf contains peyote and the other ‘shrooms. How else can we account for his hallucinations?

On a personal note, I have damage to both heart and lungs, courtesy of the virus. Fortunately, thanks to e45,'s direction I have the solution: in the Inuit tradition I will sit on an ice floe and freeze quietly to death.

Sorry to hear that.

You kind of contradict yourself honestly.

It was poor phrasing.   I totally disagree with his take.

I’m not a baseball nerd so the whole integrity thing doesn’t mean much to me. They didn’t cheap shot anyone or use a corked bar. And I’d be willing to bet they weren’t the first or only team "cheating” in a similar way. From the fans and media reaction... you’d think what they did is way worse than what the Pats did.

I’m not saying the Astros should get off Scott free like they essentially did but I probably wouldn’t care much if the Phils were doing something similar in 08.

But my big issue is Joe Kelly. Guy is a tool and no matter how bad someone cheats, trying to hurt them physically is barbaric. MLB is the worst run pro sports league in America by far. Mainly because they’re just reactive and never proactive.

The second someone gets beamed in the head and it effects their long term well being then we’ll see all that false justice crap disappear. But nothing will be done by MLB’s old boys club until that happens.

MLB execs, media, and fanboys are most moral high ground, self righteous nerds imo

What they did is worse.  They had secret codes and knew what pitch was being thrown and where it was being thrown.  The entire guessing game at that level is the only way a pitcher has any chance.  If not, it's batting practice all day for these hitters.  The Phillies attempted this with binoculars in center field 10+ years ago and we don't even know if it actually worked or how long they did it.  This was a much more sophisticated system that had been going on for years.

I don't think the list is from players

Do you mean the NFL 100 list?  I think it is, because it's the dumbest list I've ever seen.

Meh.  Ish has been happening for years.  So has brawls and beanballs.  Like I said, baseball needs ish like this.  Suspending him 8 games hurts the game.  Period.

8 games is definitely excessive.  I was hoping pitchers had immunity this year if they threw at the Astros but I guess not.  Looking forward to the first bench clearing social distancing brawl to happen.

Ok I stopped reading after you saying the pitcher has no chance.

If a batter is successful at hitting the ball 3/10 times, they’re an All Star.

The MLB isn’t slow pitch softball.

I think they went excessive because they know and figured this was gonna be an issue all year and they can’t really have brawls because of their "rules of conduct" during the pandemic. So if they made it excessive then you maybe persuade pitchers from doing so. Kelly is basically suspended for 13% of the Season and loss of pay for those games. However I totally expect him to appeal and it gets reduced to four or five games

Does Duffy ever take a breath?  Man he talks fast.

Look at Clemson’s Cover 3 and the Eagles.  Both Darby and Mills dropped way too early and gave away the coverage almost every time the Eagles were in Cover 3.  Darby was especially bad on that and then poorly positioned against the WR.

I wonder if he's not opting out because he knows he won't play this year.  His injury is not something even a young player heals from quickly, and he's already old, hobbled, and patched together.

That’s kind of my feeling he wants to earn the money and not opt out cause he’d get significantly less. I also think if he opted out it carries to 2021 but I’m not so sure the nfl doesn’t give teams some amnesties based on how much the cap is going to drop. I remember a couple years ago the nhl did so and so did the nba. I feel thats a realistic possibility.

Don’t really care about baseball but stealing signs is a long tradition, usually the first and third base coaches. The whole thing about the Astros is overblown.

Note Brooks not on IR. Wonder if he is being carried so he can be a return player.

Headline should be "Saints LT announces busted, failed season”

"It’s gotta be Super Bowl or bust,” Armstead said, via Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. "If we don’t get to the big dance it’s a failed season. That’s it.”

Why not just put him on IR and designate him to return later if he's able? He's not playing any time soon.

Looks like you were incorrect here...

If rules remain the same, a player can only be brought back from IR if they were on the 53 man roster.
