In other MLB news, Lorenzo Cain opted out for the rest of the season. Also,

You liked both of his posts asking for the change. One would take that as a sign you cosign the post

It's not that serious though so you can drop it.

You didn't want the thread name changed?  It was nice that they changed it but whatever...didn't realize it was going to cause such a stir..... 🤷‍♂️

What are we talking about

I asked them to change the name of the thread because we have members of this board that are currently in the hospital, fighting Covid.  I didn't think the entire "learned to love the virus" thing was in good taste, knowing those guys are sick...that's all.

Well, I guess that officially ends my "political correctness"message board moderating career.

MLB season is so done, and I'm officially scared that the NFL season is not happening unless a New Zealand sized bubble method is used.

I 100% agree with this.

Fun fact...they filmed the spring training scenes of ML2 at the ballpark on City Island in Harrisburg where the Senators play.  They gave everyone a hot dog and a Pepsi then we sat in the stands ALL DAY.  I still remember how long it took for them to film the bunt that dribbles down the 3rd base line.  As a kid it was great, how my mom managed to sit in those stands all day with my siblings, me and like 5 buddies is beyond me.  Moms of the 80s, tough as nails and can deal with anything.

That's a big loss. Bills odds of winning that division have to be getting better and better.

Jets have lost their best 2 defenders in the past week. They're going to be a bottom 5 team.

That contract for the jets is looking worse and worse for them. He only played 2 games last year for them. With the opt out now they’ve basically gotten next to nothing for two years of what they thought they were going to get (not that Mosley should or shouldn’t opt out. Just that contract is looking worse and people didn’t love it when he got it)

A nonstop rotation of disruptive defensive tackles can make a defense great.  They can take an extra blocker freeing up a d-end, keep traffic off linebackers and collapse a pocket forcing quarterbacks to rush throws allowing your d-backs to play more aggressive.  Definitely going to be exciting how they work together.  I also don't want to get too hyped up about this as we don't know what Jackson is going to bring to the table.

I think the battle for the 4th DT spot will be interesting too.

Do they keep 10 d-lineman?  6 DE, 4 DT?  5 and 5?

BG, Barnett, Sweat are locked in at DE and Cox, Jackson, Hargrave are locks for DT.  There's 6.  Ridgeway is a borderline lock but Raequan Williams could be a surprise.  Hector is back on the PS but pulled up at various times.

Avery/Ostman/Miller/Toohill will be a fun battle too.  Again it's a numbers game.  How many do they keep?

It will be interesting to see how offenses decide to attack the Eagles defense.  It was apparent during the last 2 seasons the plan for most teams was to attack the secondary downfield, with too much success.  Our CBs were both garbage, and Jenkins living within 10 yards of the LOS meant McLeod was trying to cover the entire downfield open range — with neither CB reliable enough to not get torched over the top.

With Slay in the secondary he can be counted on to control his side of the field without being exposed and picked on.  That will allow McLeod to shade over to where he’s needed.  I suspect most offenses will try to isolate the Eagles LBs in pass coverage once they find they can’t hit bombs as often.  I expect the Eagles run defense will still be among the league’s best.

Didn't I read a quote from JS yesterday saying that the guys leading the way at safety were Jalen Mills and Will Parks?

He’s crying cause Conn changed the title of the thread at the request of Nova and then tried to blame me.  Then wants to "drop it” after he was proven wrong.  My wife pulls that ish.  LOL.

Because you were wrong.  Just admit it.  Ha

She makes up for it by complimenting your legs.  Smart wife.

I haven’t seen enough of Parks to say whether I prefer him over McLeod at FS.

My assumption is Mills will be employed at SS in the same type of role Jenkins had; he can’t let me down, because I expect nothing good from him.

having Slay is such a relief.  I'm hoping Jones takes CB2 as i think he can be better than Maddox, but i do appreciate Maddox's tackling.  Should see more sacks this season with improved coverage.   Crossing fingers, making appropriate sacrifices, making offerings to God's and Goddesses.....

Spadaro said it but I think it was in reference to the other safety spot being an open competition. McLeod is the only real FS on the roster and they didn’t give him that contract to sit behind two guys they gave minimal money to.

None of the other beaters even commented on it so I don’t think it was some direct quote

Opt out is not an easy decision; the job security you have this season might not be there at all when you come back, especially if the team does well without you

Speaking as one who contracted the virus, I don’t mind the blog name at all. It’s worth remembering that this is a play on the title of the Kubrick movie, the blackest of black comedies. The way this is playing out in our country is in that spirit.

Ahh....I had no idea it was a play on words from a Kubrick movie....touche....
