You don't play most pass rushers 1000 snaps if you want them to be effective.

Smith, Baun and eventually Hunt will be more traditional 3-4 OLBs, but Sweat, Huff will be more stand up DEs who rarely drop into coverage.

They'll need them all this season.

Ok, say Sweat and Huff each get 600 snaps, and then Graham and Smith get 400 each. Where are you getting Baun's snaps?

I think your search omitted former St Louis Cardinal players like Dan Dierdorf (the announcer most famous for his excessive whining about Andre Waters).

Wow.   I never knew just how pathetic a franchise the (Currently) Arizona Cardinals have been since their inception.   The Immaculate Grid yesterday included a square for Cardinals and Hall of Fame.

There were SIX Cardinals players inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Alan Faneca
Dwight Freeney
Edgerrin James
Emmitt Smith
Kurt Warner
Aeneas Williams

(Eventually, Larry Fitzgerald will be added to that list.).

Of that list, only Williams could be thought of as a guy who made his name while playing with the Cardinals (Fitzgerald excepted, of course).   Crazy how bad that franchise has been since the beginning.   They started in 1920, and didn't have a Hall of Fame caliber player playing for them until the 1990s?   That's nuts!

Here's the full list dating back to the team's inception:

Charles W. Bidwill Sr.
Guy Chamberlin
Jimmy Conzelman
Don Coryell
Dan Dierdorf
John "Paddy" Driscoll
Alan Faneca
Edgerrin James
Walt Kiesling
Earl "Curly" Lambeau
Dick "Night Train" Lane
Ollie Matson
Don Maynard
Ernie Nevers
Duke Slater
Jackie Smith
Emmitt Smith
Jim Thorpe
Charley Trippi
Kurt Warner
Roger Wehrli
Aeneas Williams
Larry Wilson

But you're right in that they have had some pretty long stretches without one, relative to other teams that have been around as long.

And a bunch of them aren't guys that I'd consider "Cardinals".  They count Curly Lambeau.   He's about as much a Cardinal as Antonio Freeman is an Eagle.

Eagles have said they have had perfect attendance this spring so everyone including Bradberry, Ringo and Sweat have been at the facility at some point this offseason.

Missing 2022 - Astros that the MLB allowed to cheat

Several of those teams cheated, which is why I don’t acknowledge them as victors. The 2009 Yankees cheater(A Rod and Cano were juicing), the 2023 Chiefs cheated(well they didn’t cheat, but the NFL screwed the Eagles), and the 2022 Astros cheated. The Philly teams are the real champs those years I’ve officially declared.

That series against Boston is one of my all time favorites. Down 3-0 in the series only to take it to game 7.  Down 3-0 in game 7 only to win late.

Speaking of game 7, I was living in downtown Denver at the time.  One of my friends there (and former board member, which is how we met in the first place back in 04) wanted to meet up with a group of girls, one of which he was interested in and needed me as his wingman.  So he came over, we grilled up some food and had game 7 on.  We were supposed to head out during the 3rd quarter but F that, we were watching it to the end.  After the final buzzer, we headed over to meet the girls.  At a Boston bar.  Because apparently that's where they were all from.

We were all flyered up, so lets say things didn't work out for him

I think this Zach Baun situation is one of the more intriguing storylines this summer. While he has previously struggled at off ball LB, his career trajectory is following an eerily similar path to that of Andrew Van Ginkel, who also struggled playing in space early in his career. But last year Fangio cross-trained him as an off ball linebacker, and he had his best season.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel's standing is on the rise in Vic Fangio's defense - Sports Illustrated Miami Dolphins News, Analysis and More

Fangio seems determined to play Baun, and that probably means his primary role is as an OLB who drops into coverage a decent amount of time. which is what Van Ginkel did for him last year.

The issue is that this role will eat into snaps in an already crowded OLB/edge room. Huff is going to play a lot, and Nolan Smith will likely earn an uptick in snaps. So it seems like Sweat will be the odd man out.

My guess is that he is going to be traded, and that the team is simply waiting for June 1 to make a move. His absence from OTAs makes this more of a reality, IMO, and it makes no sense to keep him at this point if Baun is going to have a significant role in the defense, which seems inevitable at this point.

Sweat could be a trade candidate but he does give them some size and experience at the edge. Maybe he's someone that would be of interest for a player for player deal.  The team has no real depth at TE.  I wonder if they could pry Michael Mayer from the Raiders for Sweat.

Graham will be more like 250. And some at DT on obvious passing downs.

You'll have a lot of 3-4, but also 4-2-5, so Smith and Baun in one formation, Sweat and Huff in the other, some 4-1-6 and other looks.

Snaps will be allocated probably due to play. Smith for example, if he is effective rushing from the WOLB position, would end up with the most PT.

So Ed Kracz wrote an article saying Kenny Pickett has looked sharper than Jalen Hurts during OTA's and now Picketts private QB coach is posting that article on social media. It doesn't mean much right now but I wouldn't be surprised if Pickett tries to pull a Minshew at some point.

How does the contract restructure impact the trade possibilities?   Were the guarantees just salary, or was there signing bonus added in that the Eagles would still be on the hook for.

Dierdorf, a Michigan man, was part of the infamous right side of the Cardinal O line, next to Conrad Dobler, renowned as the dirtiest player in the NFL. It is deeply ironic that he should whine about Andre Waters, considering how he and Dobler played. Dan was not so much dirty as vicious. Dobler would do anything.

Not to worry. I told my wife I was going to watch a Phillies game. "Oh,” she said, "what time’s kickoff?”

And that will snowball into some idiots calling into WIP calling for us to trade Hurts and start Kenny Pickett this season.

Whenever the Phillies want.   They are kicking off everyone that comes before them right now.

Consider this:

29-6 in 35 games is an insane record (their best stretch over that span of games since 1892).
They are 9-1 in their last 10.
They are 18-3 in their last 21.

And, they are just fun to watch... granted, winning is always more fun to watch than losing.  But, this team isn't just beating them.   The starting pitchers are dominating the opposition, pretty much on a nightly basis, and the hitting is coming from everywhere.  Who could have expected Edmundo Sosa to play like he is in Turner's place?   If Turner was doing what Sosa is currently doing, folks would be very happy with Turner.  For it to be Sosa doing it?!   Icing on the cake.   They are more than 'surviving' through this injury.   And there's no need to rush him back at all.

Consider this in half the at-bats has these stats:

Sosa (62 AB) 0.323 average, 2 HR, 2 3B, 4 2B, 11 RBI and 7 BB.   11 Runs scored.   0.965 OPS!

Turner (137 AB) 0.343 average, 2 HR, 0 3B, 10 2B, 9 RBI and 9 BB.  27 Runs scored.   0.833 OPS!

And, it could easily be argued, that Sosa is a much better defensive SS than Turner.    I don't know that Sosa can keep up this pace, but its nuts right now.

And then there's Cody Clemens.

Clemons (33 AB) 0.290 average, 3 HR, 1 3B, 3 2B, 10 RBI, and 1 BB.  7 runs scored.  1.054 OPS!!!

Castellanos (189 AB) 0.206 average, 5 HR, 1 3B, 3 2B, 20 RBI, and 17 BB.  25 runs scored.  0.590 OPS.

It's hard to argue against anything Thomson is doing right now, but it makes you wonder why he hasn't started to platoon Clemens and Castellanos.  I know Clemens is basically an infielder... but if this team could survive Kyle Schwarber in LF... I have a hard time believing they couldn't survive Clemens out there with Rojas in CF and Marsh in RF against tough RHP.   More importantly, why is Castellanos the guy that gets trotted out there every single day?!   How hasn't he gotten to watch from the bench a few games?   I know Thomson wants him to work through his struggles... but, that seems like something that's not worked in the past either.   This is just who he is.  He's going to get streaky at some point and put up a great month or so... but then he'll go back into this funk.  I just hope they have a better plan for that in the post-season this year.

And if Clemens gets sent to the minors when Turner returns, he should spend every single day playing in LF while at AAA.  Come the post-season, drop a starting pitcher from the roster and elevate Clemons.  Clemens could be the backstop to a Castellanos failure in the post-season.   He's hitting great right now, and in big spots!

Hurts isn't consistently a good pocket-passing QB, so I bet he does. I can't stand the guy, but Pickett isn't better in games.
