Any guesses on Rookie Camp QB? Does Tanner McKee take part in year 2? Any UDFA worth a damn to care about for a try out?

The UDFA crop was thin this year, the street FAs are as interesting.

RB:  Milton will compete with Davis-Price and Nicholls for the big back role

WR:  Wilson will be competing with Ngata and S Davis for the big WR role, I think Smith is a lock as the slot WR, no one else has his skill set

TE:  Castles is meh, along with Togiai and Jenkins, Ozumah probably has inside track for TE2 with Calcaterra and Albert O fighting for TE3.

OL:  Anim Dankwah is huge, but doesn't have the athleticism of Mailata or Becton. Gottleib Ayedze is athletic, similar to Keegan but less experienced both might need a year in the weight room. McMahon will compete with Poe, another undersized athletic center.

DL:  Hall v Booker will compete for a 3-4 DE slot, Hall has great size, should fill out to 6'6 310 with athleticism. Thin at DT with Elliss gone (probably knee never checked out), so look for Howie to add someone to stash on the PS

LB:  Hunt and Trotter are probably roster locks, guy I want to see is VanSumeran, great athlete figuring it out.

DB:  Mitchell and DeJean are locks, the real contest is all the 2nd and 3rd year DBs fighting it out, don't think Sam has a shot to stick given numbers. Battle royal between Ricks, Jobe, McPhearson, Hall, Goodrich, McCollum, Garner.

58 same as Cole who is a hunter. Coincidence I think not

STAR?

STAR is just the Alabama designation of the strongside LB or SAM. Saban’s STAR had greater coverage responsibilities than the traditional SAM and tended to be smaller and quicker, close to being what we would call a box safety.

Mitchell, DeJean will surely change numbers with cuts. Maybe Shipley and Smith too. The rest seem about right.

I would hold off on buying their rookie jerseys.

Jalyx Hunt with the Trent Cole number gives me joy.

I mean the officiating had been bad the entire series. Not just sixers but each team at times. The Sixers got the short end of the stick in game 2. Was surprised some of national guys pointed out some of the fouls Brunson got (jump back into a defender) was same thing that the Knicks got irritated by a couple years ago with Trae young and harden was getting. They made a rule change to that. The other gripe sixers have and it’s not just this series, it’s been this way all year, was maxey continuously driving to the basket and being hammered but not getting a call. It’s why nurse said it in his presser after the game and he mentioned not just this series or tonight

Why I have a hard time getting super into the NBA.  It's NOT good basketball - it's guys traveling all game long, searching for fouls, and the league having a clear agenda and whistle that determines the outcome of far too many games.

The most important part of rookie camp: Rookie numbers released.

Nah.  We won’t see it.  How the rookies take to coaching and immersion into professional football.  Getting into the playbook.   I did like how when DeJean took the call from Nick, who wanted to let the kid celebrate and just say congrats, Cooper got in that he needed the playbook.

Man I loved watching Cole beat OTs that had 50+ lbs on him. Pete Jenkins was a technical specialist and did some of his best work with Cole.

Look at the follow up tweet.  Need to wait for the guys with the better numbers to get cut.

27 will be Mitchell's when Zech gets cut

Time and time again when I watch the NBA I keep thinking to myself why are refs calling so many dumb fouls.  Let them play.  They need to loosen up the defensive rules and let them be more physical.  Not saying go back to the 80s but let em play.

Wonder if McPherson will give Mitchell 27. It will be his sooner or later. No way Zech makes the team.

Why?  Better than Jobe, better than Ricks, better than most of the twelve CBs currently on the roster, if he healed without losing a step.  I don’t get the dislike for McPherson.  Figure the Eagles will keep the best 5 or 6 CBs.  Brown factors into the DBs in total.  Does he start the season on the roster or PUP?  McPherson > Goodrich, Garner, Ricks, Jobe, and quite possibly 2024 Bradberry.  May be more reliable than Maddox.  Figure he is in a battle for nickel and outside back up with Rodgers, Maddox and Hall.  Note, I think a lot of 5 DBs sets will be one S, two DBs (Gardner-Johnson and DeJean) and two outside corners.  I figure the S to be the best or most appropriate of Brown or Blankenship.  I figure some 5 and dime will include a nickel back.  That player, say Maddox, Hall, McPherson or McCollum may be battling for the third backup DB role.  Edge probably to Maddox with a nod to McCollum, from college, as they have both played CB/S hybrid roles in the past.  Figure Slay, Mitchell are outside CBs and Ringo is the backup for that speed.  McPherson has a decent shot at #4 or #5 CB.

Mitchell shouldn’t have to wear #30 even for a photo when McPhearson has it for no reason.

I can see DeJean keeping #33 since I doubt #3 is opening up.

Practice Squad numbers subject to change?! So they are all going to the PS? I knew they were busts.

33 is a perfectly fine number. Highly underrated.

I want Dejean to take Mccollum’s 36 if he’s permanently a FS

He was also 3 in college, so that may be his personal preference number with Nolan being 3
