Yes. Usually when they went four deep and Hurts is waiting for someone to come open against a 2 deep defense that flooded the deep zones, without an outlet.

And when he'd scramble, WRs would fail to execute a scramble drill and give him a clean target.

That’s on Moorehead and Patullo.  If WRs aren’t executing a scramble drill, then the right fundamentals aren’t being stressed.

Name a guy on the roster that no one expects to have any realistic shot to earn a prominent role this season and is on the bottom third of the roster who you think has the best chance to earn significant playing time. I'll go with Tyler Hall. I think the odds are against him making it given Rodgers, DeJean, Maddox could all play slot corner. But I would put it as a non zero chance he really impresses in camp and preseason and he earns the slot CB job.

Raiders fans really liked him.

Agree with @just relax   I do want to see Becton play T in the PS.

If Bradberry gets traded, my second choice is Tristan McCollum.  While Brown is on PUP, he’s likely the #3 S and I think as such he gets reps in camp and impresses.  Real good speed and 6’ 3” and 195 (probably after two years in the NFL weight room, he’s probably around 200 now).  He twin has 4.3 speed and is a back up CB for the Bucs.  I think the only thing that might keep him from the roster at fourth S is that Bradberry actually plays well at S and doesn’t get traded.

At WR, Wilson.  Sirianni wants a big WR and Wilson has a combination of quick that is unusual for someone his size.  He just needs consistent hands.  He’ll e pushed by Austin and Ngata in camp which will be good for him.

BRADBERRY!!!

Seriously, I'd like to see a backup TE surprise us.

Back up TE is going to be interesting competition.  What can Calcaterra and Albert O show they learned about blocking from Stout.  Castles can block.  has Jenkins transitioned blocking wise.  He’s making a change from WR.  They need to show value on coverage teams.

I read her article.  Sounds like pure speculation for the most part. Not convinced she has any sources.

She broke the AJ Brown trade, Bryce Huff interest and Saqon Barkley interest before anyone else. She definitely has sources.

She has made a strong case for being one of the most reliable behind Schefter and Rappaport.

Hurts isn't good enough to have a rift with his HC. Really disappointing to hear. It flies in the face of all the lies we were sold about his character.

2 days away from the first practice of the season.

Kempski fantasy trades:

https://www.phillyvoice.com/three-trades-make-sense-eagles-james-bradberry-noah-brown-adam-thielen-eli-ricks/

Eagles CB James Bradberry to the Bills for a sixth-round pick in 2026

Eagles CB Eli Ricks and a fifth-round pick in 2025 to the Panthers for WR Adam Thielen and a seventh-round pick in 2025

Eagles fifth-round pick in 2025 to the Texans for WR Noah Brown and a seventh-round pick in 2025

I would be fine with these moves. I would also scour the league for a d-lineman and/or LB. But I can't see the Panthers trading Thielen, he's one of their leaders and a proven security blanket for their young QB.

Imagine this scenario for a moment.

Hurts drops back to pass and has a clean pocket. He sees Lane Johnson engaged with the defensive end who is pushing upfield (but is still being controlled by Johnson). Instead of stepping up into the clean pocket and scanning downfield, Hurts decides to drop back even further and then circles to his right, around the defensive end who had been under controlled but is now in a position to chase him. Hurts then runs along the sideline and realizes he will not be able to get back to the line of scrimmage if he keeps it. He realizes that since has been running to his right, there are now no open receivers in the window in front of him. Hurts then chucks the ball out of bounds for an incompletion.

My guess is that according to timing stats, this would count as a play where Hurts had a lot of time. A play like that might take about seven or eight seconds from the time he received the snap until the instant he chucked it away.

Does anything feel wrong about interpreting this play in a positive light ("lookee, Hurts had a lot of time there!")?

Has any Eagles fan ever witnessed a play like the one described? Once perhaps? Twice maybe? Or maybe DOZENS OF TIMES?

He definitely struggles stepping up in a pocket at times.

I'm good with Thelien in that case. Seems like a good fit with this team.  Obviously you'd like to see if Campbell or Smith emerge in slot but neither is a great bet

If we were that desperate for a WR3, Tyler Boyd was younger and available for $2.4million one year deal until May, I think Thielen talk is wide of the mark.

I don't think the Panthers would trade him anyway given Legette is an unproven commodity.

Fair enough. IMHO, a year of Stoutland will make Becton as good as either Mailata  or Lane. He’s potentially Jonathan Ogden. Crazy, right? We have two of the seven best OTs in the league. Benton could give us three of seven.
What does Howie do?

Of course, Dickerson and Becton would be a scary combo at guard.

I really like the Becton signing.  He would have to improve significantly to get to Ogden's level.  I know some of the struggles have been due to his health but he didn't have a great season last year.  His floor is likely good back up at OT.  I also think he gives them a reason to have some  6 OL plays as a part of the run game.  The idea of him playing inside appeals to me because there's space for him to be a starter in that role.

Words are going to be important when the NFL moves to improvised spoken word contest and poetry slams to avoid injuries.

Don't sleep on Garner, has good size and enough speed for safety, for most converted CBs, the two issues are tackling and vision/anticipation.

He's physical enough to be a good tackler, but is he smart enough to handle safety?

Calcaterra is strictly H-back material, has to show he has WR type skills to stick, he's not big enough to be an in-line blocker.

Albert O has size and athleticism, but he is no longer a "red shirt" - he has to produce now.

I am excited for training camp.

That's ok.   The HC hasn't proven himself to be given the benefit of the doubt to have a rift with his QB.   And it flies in the face of the fact that Sirianni is a 'player's coach'.

a coach is an authority figure. Its a player issue and you really cant flip that around like you tried. doesnt work.

Both are an issue.   Coach is an authority position.  And a coach is supposed to be an authority figure.   I don't think that Sirianni is.

maxresdefault.jpg

If he wants to be respected like a HC, he needs to act like a HC, and not like an adolescent.

quote-respect-is-not-given-it-is-earned-

If Sirianni carried himself with the appropriate decorum, it would be a lot easier to respect him as the head coach.  But that outburst (and others like it) make him much more a "Garrett Stubbs vibe guy" versus being an NFL HC capable of leading a group of grown men.

Hurts needs to suck it up and respect the position, if not the man... but the man needs to act like he's an NFL HC.   Both can be wrong in the relationship.  It doesn't have to be all one or all the other.

Report: Eagles DB Sydney Brown will begin training camp on the PUP list

We have some insight into where Eagles defensive back Sydney Brown is physically after last season’s torn ACL, Glenn Erby of USA Today's Eagles Wire reports.

According to Jimmy Kempski of The Philly Voice, Brown will start the season on the physically unable to perform list (PUP List) to start training camp.

If Brown isn’t removed from the list before the start of the regular season opener against the Packers in Brazil, the second-year pro would be forced to miss at least the first four games of the season.

Brown finished his rookie season with five starts in 13 games, registering 45 tackles, one tackle for loss, three passes defended, and a 99-yard interception return against the Cardinals

That's fine. Let other player audition for S, get Brown 100% and time to learn Fangio's scheme.

Then he'd be ready to step right in if needed.

I used to ask my grandfather to give me ice cream for breakfast too.

Did anyone honestly expect Sydney Brown to NOT be put on PUP prior to training camp? Surely the earliest we could expect him back would be the beginning of October, and I think that is probably stretching it a bit. My guess would be around Halloween. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a story line of him trying to get back to face the Bengals so that he could face his twin brother.

You can sleep on him. He's a camp body.
