YES!!!!

Off topic, but I’m really stunned that people aren’t more concerned about WR3. If everyone is healthy, it might not make a difference. If Brown or Smith have to miss some games, all of a sudden we’re playing two bums in 3WR sets. Did we not learn our lesson last year when Brown went out?

I’m still concerned about it. I made this same argument last year. And then brown got hurt at giants heading into the playoffs. I don’t trust Campbell to stay healthy and John Ross is a JAG. I’ve been hoping Campbell pans out but frankly I’d go after renfrow in FA. I still think he has juice left but don’t know at this point if he does or if the raiders were just so bad at Qb and McDaniels hated him

Compared to lb and oline depth, wr is a pretty minor concern. Brett Toth getting first team reps is way more concerning to me.

I actually am fine with the OL depth. Two of Henessey, Becton and Steen will be OL 6/7. That’s fine IMO.

Not sure why any of these guys should inspire more confidence than the wr3 options. Steen couldn't beat out Opeta last year, Henessey has yet to take first team reps even with multiple guys missing time and Becton is pretty much the olineman equivalent of John Ross.

Hennessy is too good for me to believe he cant get 1st team reps. My suspicion is that they are so concerned with making sure the C position is in good hands after Kelce's retirement that they are not going to risk their C depth.

Simple: Stoutland. I believe he can make it work with whatever group he’s given.

Henessey has played solid football as a starting guard. Becton has flashed some very good things (although he stunk last year and his attitude wanes). If those are our top two backups, that’s pretty good compared to league wide Inwould imagine. We had Opeta and Driscoll at those spots a year ago.

As for Steen, I think he’d actually make a pretty good backup OT if he loses the job to Becton.

Lol Phillies

Sept 6th is too far away.  At least there are some ok Olympic things to look at.  Too bad the Phils have tanked.

You coming to Baltimore for the preseason game? I need you to fight bacarty while I take on his kid

Definitely. I’ll bring my daughters so they can watch me pummel him with a spiked bat. They’ll be so proud of me.

It was more a joke and diss towards Eli because,  you know, he played for the NYG and we hate them.

And that he was just barely mediocre for most of his career.   The Pro Bowl doesn't mean much, because its mostly a popularity contest, BUT as the QB of a team in NY, for Eli to be a Pro Bowler only 4 times in 16 seasons... that DOES say something.

Perfect 0.500 record as a starter and a perfect 3:2 ratio of TD:INT.   He's not a Hall of Famer.   If his name was... Chad Pennington instead of Eli MANNING, or if he had played for the Jets rather than the Giants, this conversation wouldn't even come up.   Of course, the argument will come up that he won 2 Super Bowls.   But, the truth is, the GIANTS won 2 Super Bowls.  He was carried by his defense.   And if 2 Super Bowl wins gets you into the Hall of Fame, where's Jim Plunkett's bust?

Eli definitely doesn't deserve to be in the HOF.  There really shouldn't even be much discussion about it.

In the end all that matters is winning.  He wasn't great but he's got the rings.  That gets him there.

He probably should get in with the 2 SB MVPs alone.   The rest of his career was up and down.  Definitely not 1st ballot.  I'd be very surprised if that happens.

First one likely should have gone to Justin Tuck.  2 sacks and a FF.   That victory was purely on the back of the defense.   Eli won it because there wasn't a specific performance by any particular player that stood out and so the winning QB gets it by default.  But, the helmet catch (maybe give Tyree the MVP for that catch) was how they got the victory, not some great performance by him.

Second one was a better performance by Eli.  Maybe that was deserved.  Even so it was a fairly forgettable performance for an MVP.

There is a limit to that.   2020 showed that there's a limit to that.   Jamon Brown stands as a testament that no one is invincible.   He's the chicken s---- that Stoutland couldn't be made into chicken salad.

I don’t think Earl Thomas is a HOF’er.

I agree. Chancellor was the key to the legion of boom, not Thomas.

Earl Thomas was the best center-fielder S of the past 15 years. Stud.

I wonder if some of these guys off field character stuff wont hurt them too. Suggs was a jackass. And Earl Thomas was a weirdo as well. Maybe they get TO'd

I think he deserves to be in the discussion. A couple things that should also be a factor are his 2 SB MVPs and his career ironman streak. He's also 10th all time in career passing yards and TDs. While in the discussion, it's fair to weigh the not so impressive things you listed against the accomplishments. Many of the HOF QBs have a similar or worse TD to INT ratio.

Pro Football Reference assigns each player a HOF monitor score and you can research more about it on their site if it interests you. Here's what they have for Eli Manning:

Hall of Fame Monitor

PFR HOF Monitor: 85.01 (22nd among QB, average HOF QB is 103.58)

Well, seeing as I've been begging for Covey to be tried in the slot from the beginning of last years swoon on......with Campbell out, maybe this is his opening.  The only person on that list that actually matters is Becton and I'm glad to hear it's just an "illness" and not torn ACL.....
