I blame the hitters. Nelson has been awful at home this year. Entering the game with close to a 5.50 era. They managed to score 2 off him.

Time for my annual rant on preseason coverage:

Everybody involved with the production of the broadcast of preseason games: You suck! YOU ALL SUCK!!

There is no point in any game where I want to watch the game I'm watching on 1/3 of the screen I have available to watch the game on. Nothing on the sideline is more important than what is happening on the field. The interviews are fine because the announcers used for preseason home teams are complete trash --- but I don't need any video whatsoever to accompany that audio of the said interviews. If you feel you must dedicate video to the totally useless sideline interview, consider using the old ASL box that networks used in the old days before closed captioning was a thing:

Virginia-Moore.png

Do not EVER go away from the play and show the sideline before the whistle is blown (Like on our first tush-push). Don't sit there and tell us your interpretation of a replay your producer is too incompetent to switch to in live broadcasts. You only have 3 games to display your ineptness each year --- would it be asking too much to prepare for them by having a list of names that accompany the other team's player numbers so you could mention who made the tackle?

Agree with that.  It's like they think that the only people watching are the most basic fans of the home team.   An interview with a home team starter who isn't playing is what they'd want.  The Ravens broadcast didn't have mentions of the Eagles.  Who made the catch,  who made the tackle?  If they're Eagles, we don't know.   There are people here who want to know who is on the field.  Who the ol is,  who the defense is,  maybe someone can tell us when someone comes on or off the field?   The people who are actually watching this game are the ones most likely to care about bottom of the roster battles and want to watch what those players are doing.

I know Gainwell gets criticism. I think he's good when used effectively.  I think there were too many situations they'd go away from Sanders or Swift and use Gainwell too much.

Gainwell & Shipley together makes the RB room strong.

Some of the time, a RB will ask to come out for a breather. I don't think it's always the coaches' plan. But the Eagles are heavy into analytics too and there may be some stats telling them after x amount of consecutive snaps a RB may be more likely to fumble ... or get hurt ... or have a dramatic decrease in production, etc...

Sometimes when I see a RB step up on a drive and contribute key runs that moves the team down the field into the redzone, I don't understand taking out the hot hand.

I agree about Gainwell, though.

I thought Davis-Price actually looked pretty good tonight.

Anyone else think Zach Baun looked lost out there against backups? Don’t have any hope for the LBs once again this year.

Baun sucks as an off ball LB he only flashed in college and in NO as a pass rusher

I didn’t see every play but Huff didn’t do much huh? He hasn’t really made a single play that’s noteworthy aside from almost getting an INT in practice which isn’t the reason we signed him.

He only played the first series. I thought he had one nice pass rush. I wouldn't worry too much at this point. While we did give some of our defensive starters some snaps, we still didn't play Slay, CJGJ, Sweat or Graham. Our defense only played 46 snaps and the Ravens only passed for 99 yards and only ran for 82 yards. It wasn't like a game where the other team was in a lot of must pass situations as the score was close the whole time.

I'm just glad that we gave him some snaps. I wish they would have played the starters on offense for a series.

From what saw ..

(1)  McKee is markedly better than Pickett.  Has more arm talent and mobility.  Ship off Pickett for whatever they can get.  As was stated Pickett can be a solid backup but McKee has starter potential

(2)  Shipley is a player.   Ran strong, catches the ball well and did a good job in pass pro

(3)  Jalyx Hunt has what it takes

(4)  Trotters Jr. has the instincts to play the position

(5)  Think both Nolan Smith and Dean need more reps to get into the speed of the game.  Not worried about them but it's time.

(6)  No way they are trading Steen.  Played well

(7)  Covey has a spot locked up.  Feel like if Campbell can get healthy, he, Covey and possibly Ross make the team as well.  Smith needs to go to IR or PS.

I didn't see that today. I was actually hoping to see a little better performance from both guys.

I thought Pickett’s mobility was superior to McKee’s. I’m not sure I liked his decisions on the move but he sure seemed more nimble.

Pickett has a worse arm than Kevin Kolb. He had wind up and step into a 7 yard pass on 3rd down ffs.

Pickett has a really good 10 split of 1.56 which is 9.89 ras for QBs.  McKee didn't run the 40.  Hurts 10 split was 1.60.

Yeah…Stoutland told the Philly media that Steen has many traits that remind him of Brandon Brooks just a couple weeks ago.  He was never going anywhere

You can pretty much sort qb’s according to 10 yard split and it reflects perfectly how good they are too.

Stopped at 1...terrible take..just cross your arms and say " I don't like Pickett" because saying he has less mobility then McKee is

laughable. Pickett will be the 2 ..no doubt.

Both QBs looked like viable backups. McKee may have a better arm but from what I saw Pickett is currently the better QB.

Pickett definitely shouldn’t have been a first rounder and McKee should have gone higher than the 7th but Pickett is still the better player IMO.

I'll be keeping him on the roster the next time I attempt the 53. I hereby formally rescind the thought of trading Steen if he doesn't win the starting job.

Couldn't watch the game. How did Jalyx Hunt look?

There was a wheel route he recognized and picked up in the 2nd or 3rd Q. Thought it was a nice heads up play by him. The ball didn't go his way, but he was fast to react.

We need to trade for a WR3. Campbell can’t be trusted. Wilson is too slow. Smith is a disaster. Ross is a bum. Covey is maybe passable but can’t play outside.

If you think of Wilson as an H-Back/TE, then him as WR3 is fine.

I do think well IR Smith and claim a WR from another team during cuts.
