The worst thing about Wright is he thinks he's an expert on the NBA, but he consistently gives the most awful takes.

I am convinced he's never watched a football game without the Chiefs playing.

Waived, brought back after week 1 IMI

I don't think they would be able to. He would have to be waived/injured which makes him go to IR once he clears waivers. They could come to an injury settlement but who knows how long that would be and then there is some additional weeks after the settlement expires they would have to wait to re-sign him.

If he still can't even practice or doesn't look close, there's no point in wasting even a PS spot let alone a 53.

I look at it the way Shane Haff broke it down. We basically used a 2024 4th for 2 years of Dotson, while also trading 2 7th round picks for a 5th rounder. I do that all day. It is an upgrade from Quez last year and Campbell/Wilson this year.

I look at it this way, the Eagles traded a 2024 third round comp pick and four sevenths in 2025 for two years of Pickett, two years of Dotson and a 2025 fifth from a relatively weak team. The 2025 third they traded is likely the pick Howie got for Pittsburgh’s fourth this year, acquired in the Pickett trade.

There is - or at least was - a walk in passport office in Philly. Few extra $ but if he walks in with suitable pictures IIRC he could walk out with a passport. I did it 15 or 20 years ago.

Eagles 2025 picks before the trade.  Which 3rd did/do we send?

For the record, that 4th from Detroit is actually our own. It's the one we traded for Swift.

He joined the PHLY group. Just announced. He'll be contributing to the podcast with Bo and Zach and also will be the draft expert.

If PHLY has any sense they will eventually just part ways with Bo.

I forgot what Dotson ran at the combine. I remember him being a clutch deep threat for PSU and then afan said he didnt have elite speed. So, I found he ran a 4.41 at the combine. It was a weird run because he seemed to coast through it. You didnt hear him exhale while exploding out of the start line like most guys do. And his run just seemed so at ease. I feel like he could have pushed harder and broke 4.3s.

Anyway, yeah I guess its not elite speed. But plenty fast.

The nicest thing about re-watching his run was hearing the comp to Deonta Johnson in smoothness, with better hands. They said Dotson had the best hands in the class. Of course we have seen many highlight catches from him so we know the hands are good. But nice reminder of how good he can be.

Did you draft Goff?

No.  My QBs are f'n terrible.  Rogers, Lawrence and Watson.

Whatever.  I won last year when I started with Rogers and Watson and replaced them with Howell and Fields, I can do it again.  Right?

Concerning. Reagor/Quez vibes.

His 5th yr option is alot. Will have to extend or release him after 24

Or  don't pick up the option, let him play out his contract and let him walk as a FA after 25. Then.......

We got a 5th back this time and threw in 2 7ths. So not as bad as just sending a 3rd for half a year of Tate.

But we also "got back" a future fourth (basically Jack Driscoll) as a comp pick. So it wasn't *really* just a 3rd for a half year of Tate.

And we may get a comp pick after Dotson walks following the 2025 season, as @paco pointed out.

OVERALL

Jahan Dotson is a receiver who aligns both inside and outside and also returned punts during his college career. Although he has below-average size, his ability to consistently win versus press coverage will allow him to continue to align wherever an NFL team wants him.

Dotson is a very good athlete who is dangerous with the ball in his hands and has the long speed to take the top off defenses. He is also a very good route-runner, already showing an extended route tree and the polish to win on a variety of different routes at all three levels. He also has natural hands that allow him to maximize his size. He is consistently comfortable extending away from his body on throws both high and low. This trait also shows up when working back to the quarterback, which allows him to come down with throws in traffic.

His understanding of how to angle his routes out of his breaks and ability to make catches on poor throws allowed him to be productive no matter the situation he was put in. Overall, Dotson has the athleticism and skill set to make him a Day 1 starter for any NFL offense. While his lack of size and build will make some teams hesitant to take him early and may limit his overall upside, he is a true football player with a competitive streak and dynamic play ability that makes him an exciting prospect whom every team would love to have.

Trolling the Washington boards -- they think they're about the trade for Aiyuk.

The best line I saw on their board today was when someone said "at least the Eagles now have a receiver that Emmanuel Forbes can actually cover". What a way to trash back-to-back first round Ron Rivera picks in one comment.

You got 4 hall of famers on that list dingus

Dotson isn't going to be great but he's absolutely a clear upgrade over Quez and anyone else we've had as the 3rd for quite a while now.  I think it is worth the risk of draft capital especially if we get a comp pick down the road.

Should we change our F to Chip?

Kotite will always own that imo

It’s stunning how people continue to miss the importance of having a legit inside-outside WR to allow Brown and Smith to play in the slot more and to not have a total bum soaking up snaps. And god forbid one of them gets hurt.

Big step back after his rookie year but he still gets open.

Hurts doesn't throw the middle of the field so helps limit his route options

Berman said he knows that the Eagles really love him, so he expects him to be here one way or another.

I just realized that Washington basically traded Chris Olave for Dotson, Sam Howell and Brian Robinson Jr.

2 years later only Robinson Jr remains with the team.  And he's splitting with Austin Ekeler now.
