The roast says a lot about Brady.  Kelce was right.  Brady did the roast to make himself more marketable and stir up the hype for his post-playing career.  Given how broken his family is and how the roast would inevitably spotlight and, you know, roast that...it was a really selfish decision.

Random pack of questions to kill the time in a dead period of football

1) Who will start at outside CB opposite Slay week 1?

2) Who will start at LB with Devin White?

3) Who will start at RG?

4) Who will win slot receiver job?

5) Will there be a conflict at any point in the season that is reported on by someone regarding Sirianni and Moore butting heads over the offense?

That is week 1 for 1-4. I don't think 2-4 all stick

Any way Packers would trade Quay Walker? They just drafted two LB'ers in Edge Cooper and TyRon Hopper. If we could, he slides into starting MLB quite easily. He's not a FA until after 2025. They were bit down on him for multiple reasons, from emotional outbursts to getting stuck on blocks against the run. He's a former first rounder, so if he hit his potential already then we'd have no shot at him. Maybe in a strong locker room with former teammates and Vic working with him, he can tap into his potential here. If Dom and Vic both sign off on the guy, I'd make a call to investigate.

Seems like one of those situations where both teams see what they have first and then mid training camp make a call

Ahh, you're right! Didn't catch that. Thought he just lost balance.

From a technique perspective, more disappointed that he let the EDGE get into his chest so easy. You're 6'8 with long arms. Initiate.

Pass-pro should not be passive...

Seems there is a lot of debate about who has the final say on the offense, will the get along re Siri vs. Moore.  My suspicion is that it's all Moore running the offense.

If that's the case, it feels the Eagles are on a collision course with a major problem.  If Hurts has an all-pro year leading an elite offense, Moore is going to instantly be near or at the top of the HC list.  In this scenario, who is more valuable to the Eagles....Moore...the guy who brought Hurts and the offense back....or Siri...the guy who doesn't do anything?

That will be debated.  But that's the dilemma in every team where the OC is the guy who calls the plays.

You are falling into the trap of making the exception the rule.  The average/typical punter now compared to the average/typical punter from the prior period is the meaningful comparison.  @FranklinFldEBUpper can weigh in with actual statistics rather than anecdotes.

Franklin may also be able to tell us what each additional 0.1 seconds of hang time translates to in the number of yards a gunner covers as the punt descends toward the returner.

In the decade between 2012 and 2022 the average NFL punt hang time varied between 4.26 and 4.45, it actually declined between 2012 and 2021.

At his fastest recorded speed Usain Bolt covered 1.04 meters in 0.1 seconds, we can safely assume that no NFL player in full uniform is covering more ground than peak Usain Bolt in spikes, so the difference is considerably less than a meter.

Devin Hester was not playing a completely different game that means he'd be more like Britain Covey if he were playing Today.

If I'm not mistaken, the Packers run a true 3-4 and their draft just loaded up their LB core which includes Quay Walker. I can't see anyway the Packers would trade him. He's done some moronic things on the field but they've stuck with him. I loved him in the draft and if there was a way for the Eagles to get him, I'd be thrilled. Just don't see it happening.

So they drafted two linebackers this year pretty high, Cooper round 2, Hopper round 3, while Quay was already on the roster from 2022 draft. That had me wonder just a bit if they may be open to moving him. If not him, hopefully Howie has some candidates of better quality.

Listening to Vic's presser, I was a little surprised about his answer on Bryce Huff. I was thinking and actually hoping a bit, Vic was one of the main ones who had targeted him as a fit. Instead it was, Howie asked me to watch this guy to see what I had thought... I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just a little surprising.

Youtube TV isn't required to get Sunday Ticket. Most people probably have Prime regardless of football anyway. The ESPN games should also be on your local ABC which is better than streaming.

Finally, for those that don't care about or can't always watch the games live, the NFL+ app is like $100/year and you can watch all the games but only watch live the ones broadcast locally.

Howie (and Lurie) run the team.  We all know that.  This is just a small nugget to further pile into that evidence bin.

I think folks are getting too caught up in who’s developing the scheme and not paying enough attention to who’s calling the plays.  The offense took off when Steichen started calling plays.  Nick was calling too many pass plays, and too many of those were at or behind the LOS.  When Steichen was given play calling responsibilities the offense flourished.  Moore has a really good track record with DAL as play caller.  The scheme itself was likely developed in conjunction with McCarthy — as demonstrated last season when the Turds offense still put up points without Moore.

Every player whether free agent or draft initiates from Howie & scouts then goes to Nick & coaches.  It's always been that way.  The coaches don't start with a blank canvass of free agents or draftees

Moore.  Same with Fangio on defense.  Siri will manage the game overall.  And Moore is more valuable under your scenario.  We won't let him leave is my guess.

Don't we already have a very athletic, former 1st rd pick at LB who's not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree?

Gee, coaches coach?

The reason you have a personnel department is to research all the potential additions in FA and the draft.

You don't go to coaches until you narrow down the number of candidates to a manageable number.

Why would you ask your coach to look at hundreds of potential FAs and draft picks?

It's not like Moore is this offensive guru and Siri has no experience in game planning and building an offensive scheme.

Moore will run the offense, but the scheme will be developed in conjunction and with oversight from Siri.
