The first 3 weeks of the Eagles schedule should be pretty easy to predict from a logistics standpoint. It's going to be

Week 1: Home (although away, we are the hosts so it's a home game)

Week 2: Home (I don't see the NFL making them travel to Brazil and then travel again for the next game)

Week 3: Away (I don't see burning 3 home games in a row to start the season and then having just 6 home games across the remaining 15 weeks)

Wilson had the most throws under pressure in the league (129) - Hurts had (101) 9th in the league

Wilson threw 26 Tds - 9 picks, 66.4 completion % - 63.6 pressure completion % (3rd in the league)

Hurts threw 23 TDs - 15 picks, 65.4 completion % - 56.4 pressure completion % (14th in the league)

Wilson had a WAY better season than Hurts did last year any way you slice it from a passing perspective...so if that's how you feel about russell...how do you feel about Hurts?

Hurts was trash last year? Whaaattt... no way. They both looked mid to trash to me when the year concluded. So it can be both were basura. Hurts has no excuse IMO outside of the weird offense that they were running that refused to have pre-snap motion, hot routes, and to run routes over the middle. When you have AJ, Smitty, and Goedert I would expect more from the passing attack regardless of the poor offensive design and approach. He better not have another down year this year is all I can say.

I don't agree with that guy though.

If the Eagles want to do something unconventional,   I'm more in favor of Becton as RT (occasionally) and Lane Johnson at blocking TE/FB/,   getting Lane Johnson TDs.   Also Mailata.  Short yardage and 4th Q running out the clock.  I'm good with Steen at RG.

You're an idiot. There's literally 0 reason to risk your two franchise bookend tackles by plugging them in as runners to "run out the clock." This isn't Madden, just stick to that. Even though I'm sure there's a ton of 8 year olds who would punk you in that as well.

why do you assume the NFL doesnt love to screw us?

They usually like to take us out to dinner first

We'll get screwed with some Week 15 bye and a stretch somewhere of Ravens, Cowboys, Browns, Bengals

To screw to or not to screw. It's becoming more and more obvious that pro sports are rigged. Especially the NFL and NBA. I'm going to start treating it like old school WWF. Entertaining but from year to year it seems that the leagues have their favorites. The Roman Circus baby wooooo.

I've brought this up before -- what are the realistic expectations of Hurts?  I think since he's paid as an elite QB he needs to provide elite QB play, which is (IMO) top 8 out of 32 starting QBs.  I don't think he'll ever have a season like 2022 again, but he should be somewhere discussed among the league's best QBs.

Douglas thinks Hurts needs to be top 5.  I agree with Joe that's probably not realistic:

To me elite is higher than just top quartile.  It has to be top 3-4.  That's the top 10% of QBs.  And that's where his average salary puts him... #4.

I don't even really care about league wide rankings. He needs to hit two simple things

1. Over 4,000 passing yards. Carson Wentz is still the franchise leader despite no where near the weapons Hurts has.

2. Over 30 passing TD's.

I'm not interested in rehashing the "rushing yards and TD's are just as good" debate. The Eagles sunk top dollar into two top WR's. If all that money is being spent just to rush, this construction makes no sense.

Ok,  put Becton as 6th OL,  blocking TE/FB.     Becton on the field,  and could swap with Lane or Mailata,  or not.

Whatever,  you should feel confident that Dunning-Kruger will never effect your ability to violate board rules constantly without any punishment to you.  You're a genius, top quality attacker of others,  despite it clearly violating the board rules every time you do it.

Imagine still being in the "I'm just not sold on this Jalen Hurts fella" camp.

2024 for Hurts might be the most important single season for any one player in Eagles franchise history. Not hyperbole either. You factor in that:

He's the highest paid player in franchise history.

Sirianni's job is probably riding on it.

It's a championship window.

Surrounded by a lot of talent.

Hurts needs to play much closer to 2022 Hurts again. If he doesn't, it puts a monkey wrench into the whole operation. If Hurts plays a lot like he did in 2023 again, then suddenly starting in February and March of next year most of Eagles fans are debating if they should start looking in other directions at QB. And Howie is probably starting to get the wheels turning in his head in that regard too.

I expect and hope he puts up big numbers, but aside from the numbers, he really needs to correct the stuff he regressed in last year. Stop bailing the pocket early, the awful turnovers. And actually look agile running again, which completely disappeared in 2023 whether it was injury or by design. Hopefully Kellen Moore helps in that regard. But I still think the jury is out on Moore as an OC. I think he's good. The question is how good. His offenses did well in Dallas with a ton of talent. Then he left and Dallas' offense still did very well, but the Chargers were a mess. But that's hard to put on him considering how screwed up the Chargers were under Staley. So I think we'll find out this year with all the talent and Hurts just how good Moore actually is. Huge year for him and Hurts.

Eagles released Noah Togiai.

Sorry @ManuManu

He'll be back in July probably.

$45M fully guaranteed. Crazy money for a S.

On the offensive side, Johnson had been with the team for two years and knew the system, and Hurts, very well. It certainly did not seem to be a bad hire at the time. Of course, one could argue that promoting him to OC displayed loyalty, to return to the initial argument.

You explained my thoughts better than I did.  I was talking more about the decision to go with Johnson in the first place.  Loyalty may not be the best word to use, so I understand the confusion.

I don't think it was loyalty.  I think it was that that was the plan when he was hired to be the QB coach in the first place.  But, that was also likely the only viable option of people from the NFL level due to the timing.

Frankly, I think the NFL needs to stop the coaching carousel until AFTER the Super Bowl is over.   It would cause a massive change to the coach search process, but it would NOT penalize the best teams each year.

I do hope they cluster the Ravens, Giants, and Commanders away games towards the end of the season.

We have the distinct travel advantage of being bus/train rides from 4 other teams.

Will Shipley might have the biggest uphill look test battle in recent memory. Dude looks like the local transient who's trying to bum cigarettes at train tracks. If he's good he'll truly be defying the odds.

I think he needs to comfortably be in tier 2, and I'm putting Mahomes in tier 1 by himself. So that would put Hurts in the top 5-6 range. Problem now is there's a question if Hurts is tier 2 or tier 3; he's gotta prove it again this year.

Do we get any 3rd or 4th rounders for having a white RB and CB ?
