I would hope 80% of their assets are in safe investments at this point.

Solid hit on part of my retirement funds and I'm just now starting into it.  I'm quite well diversified so I'll be ok but still...

Some quick thoughts on "Liberation Day," also known as "Liquidation Day." Obviously, these tariffs are way beyond anything the market expected. I think very little of Trump and the administration

Oh, it will definitely hit. Just hopefully it won't be debilitating.

Anyone saying this doesn't impact them is either a liar or insanely rich.

Between this and and the possibility of losing loan forgiveness for my wife we tossed around delaying the reno.  But then we're running the risk of pricing increasing significantly so we just pulled the trigger. I'd be pissed if we hold off then have to drop an extra 100k on the project in 2 years.

Good problem to have I suppose

I'm thinking similarly, I may upgrade and modernize my hvac system earlier than I was thinking, as I can see some of those components skyrocketing.

Why exactly are we trying to go to war with Canada?

What all are you guys doing?

Adding an inlaw suite master suite and a mudroom. Redoing the kitchen entirely. Adding a half car garage. Redoing the deck and making a side entrance into a screened in porch.

Bought in 2019. Refinanced in 2021. In the neighborhood we want to be in. So major remodel makes way more sense than moving.

51st state

At this point, I think we need to take his word seriously in terms of wanting Canada and Greenland

Similiar boat there as well. We like it so much better in South Jersey than when we were in Toms River (population increase in that area is nuts), we bought pretty cheap down here and almost tripled our home value in the last 4 years. This is where we are staying until we leave the state, probably 10 years away.

Yeah especially when you don’t know what the rates are gonna do. If you’ve got a good rate it’s a no brainer to just tweak what you want.

I’m guessing the half garage is for the lawn stuff?

And kayaks/water toys yeah. Plenty of basement room for tools etc. Not enough room for a full garage without sacrificing something else.  Not worth it to me.

Oh yeah, I've definitely noticed this as well.  Its really hard for them to take all the loses.

There's very little to gloat over at this point. Even the biggest supporter (who is actually paying attention) has to realize how bad this is getting.

It gets tangible for them when they can see the numbers economically.  I have an old HS friend on FB and he kept talking about "finally doing a real budget and stop kicking the can down the road" and now he's totally silent.

As for the other stuff, let's see what they say when Trump starts threatening military action against Canada.

Yeah garages end up just holding half as many cars as they’re supposed to and the rest is storage.

I mean, this will be an easy one for them. Have you noticed that MAGA regret only starts when something affects them? I doubt they care much for anyone other than themselves, much less people across a boarder they've never met.
