Yep. They can recover but unwinding cheap leverage will have a lasting impact on the underlying foreign assets they used to own... which accounted for like 80% of their investments.

From a tin foil hat perspective I'm looking at speculative assets to see what happens. Cheap foreign liquidity are perfect vehicles for speculative investments or shorting by hedge funds. It offers a place to hide things like swaps where they are not subject to US regulatory scrutiny. At a minimum, if Bank of Japan is being used as a shelter, the premium on keeping those positions open have become more expensive.

Sharp drop at the end today to finish up just under 300.  Probably the most realistic positive outcome we could have expected

Futures are up 300 taking us roughly to yesterdays high
