Have we had economic contractions for two consecutive quarters?  Premature at the very least to declare we are in a recession.  Although last time we had an inflationary spiral like the type we have had for the past few years, it took a hard recession brought on by draconian interest rate hikes in the early 80's to cool down inflation.  Today, the Fed can't do that because the interest on the national debt is out of control.
