  • Some quick thoughts on "Liberation Day," also known as "Liquidation Day." Obviously, these tariffs are way beyond anything the market expected. I think very little of Trump and the administration

Trump going on again about how Europe doesn’t buy our cars.

Maybe Europe doesn’t need to buy the "Suburban Parent Mobile 5000”.

And then went on about how Europe doesn’t buy our farm equipment. They do actually. Most of our imports and exports of ag equipment are to Canada because they make Massey Ferguson, which is actually owned by a US company. Also the most popular brand in Europe is John Deere. Not to mention one of the most popular brands in Germany is Fendt, which is owned by an American company. The other big players are Massey Ferguson, New Holland, and Case IH, the latter two being US founded companies that are Italian owned that still have tens of thousands of employees at a bunch of plants in the US. We only recently went into a trade deficit in ag equipment, mostly because of importing cheap ish from China and India. Yeah, sorry the poor cheap a-hole farming a handful of acres has to settle for a $50k Mahindra 6000 because he can’t afford to drop $150k for a John deer 6R.  (Btw that’s considered a small utility tractor. Mow grass and bale hay kind of ish. You wanna do some corn, you’re looking at like $250-300k for the tractor if you’re doing like small to medium farms, and that’s not including implements and a harvester.)

She's already in the ground.

Looks like Vietnam wishes to continue laundering Chinese products into the US

USTR tweeted a list of supposed unfair trading practices.

Number 5 was about the EU caring too much about stopping illegal deforestation.

Number 7 was about how the South Americans are doing too much illegal deforestation.

Has Trump tried unlocking and locking the stock exchange? That will do it

European Union is looking into the tech / service industry from the US. They’re holding back on it, but if Trump keeps escalating, then they will hit the tech services.

my company finances for most of those companies, we do a ton of AG business and this tarrif bs is going to have tons of ripple effects throughout the industry and guess who gets F'd in the end? yep, the american farmer, but hey, things should be cool in about year, so guess what farmer in the dell? stop being a weak poosey and take one for the team. :nonono:

i thought trumpers were for capitalism and a free market? this all seems, not that.

Yep, I posted that a while back as well. I’m reading the same thing in the Swedish press.  Give Trump the optics victory on goods for MAGA and then hammer on the services.

Man and it’s gonna suck there with the demand for finance because farmers aren’t going to be buying as much equipment due to increased equipment costs and they’re going to have less to spend because of the loss of foreign sales of harvests.

It just shows how stupid he is because of how many Euro manufacturers have plants in the US and how many US manufacturers have plants in Europe.  But because hobby farmers are buying cheap stuff from Asia it throws the overall numbers off and honestly it’s not by that much.

Farmers by and large voted for this so tbh I don’t have much sympathy for them.  They plant half their acreage in soybeans and then vote for the guy who wants to get in a trade war with China.

On a side note one as the resident Russia hater the thing that grinds my gears in the market is that ag manufacturers are still selling in Russia. I haven’t seen that agco is, but I know Claas and Fiat (at least case IH) still do biz there.

Honestly I’m not even sure that giving him an off ramp is even going to work anymore. Vietnam, Israel, and the EU both went to 0/ offered to go to 0 and he didn’t take the bait. I think too many people kissed his a** during his first term and now he thinks he can just get whatever.

He can’t find the any key.

Well, this is going to be interesting. Trump is going to have to choose between the two it seems.

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
