  • Some quick thoughts on "Liberation Day," also known as "Liquidation Day." Obviously, these tariffs are way beyond anything the market expected. I think very little of Trump and the administration

wont affect me.

We're a few months away from a "kill and eat squirrels in your yard" recommendation from the US gov't.

...cheap cuts are also getting pricey though. I love cheap cuts, it's annoying. Shoulders, shanks, liver, ribs, thighs are all traditionally "cheap cuts" but sure as sheet aren't regularly affordable for anyone who was on food stamps right now

Exactly. When everyone buys the "cheap cuts", they stop being cheap or even available lmao. This administration is frustratingly stupid.

During COVID I was eating the hell out of cheap cuts. You couldn't find a can of soup anywhere in the supermarket, but you could find roasts, broth, veggies, and seasoning, so I would just make a ton of stews in the crock pot.

Recently I'm trying to cut back on the red meat and eat a ton more fiber. (Last semester I did a paper on dietary causes/remedies of Atherosclerosis, and the overriding consensus of my research was it's not the type of diet, e.g. Mediterranean, Asian, etc, but rather the amount of fiber within that diet, and spamming fiber was about the best thing one can do for overall health. Obv other factors are at play, but fiber intake was showing to be the largest factor.)

I thought that upping my intake of fruits and veggies was going to break the bank, but it's surprisingly cheap to get what you need nutritionally out of fruits and veggies. Granted, most of that is flash frozen, so the quality isn't the same as fresh, but nutritionally it's a wash. To offset meat intake, I've been swapping in shelled edamame, and that's pretty cheap. I just pretend not to be aware of how much legumes are prone to have a high heavy metal content.

Was it depressing to do all that research and make all those changes just to find out all you really needed was to cook in beef tallow and slam glasses of unpasteurized whole milk in a hot tub with Kid Rock?

Yeah, they really helped reduce the severity of my hot flashes.

There's pretty good evidence that soy is great for health for having higher amounts of that. I've also been trying to introduce Natto to my diet, which is good for that and also Vitamin K2.

Honestly the whole milk thing is the most befuddling to me. Like, yeah, I get the whole "I'm a manly man who does manly man stuff like eat red meat because I'm a man and take treatment for low T because having high T makes me more of a man and this wife won't leave me like my other two did because I'm a manly man" but the whole raw milk thing just doesn't make sense.

Like milk is not a manly man drink to begin with, and you can tell these dip ish's have never been within ten miles of a dairy, because if they saw how much manure all over the cows they'd never drink milk again.

It's like they think the cows just ish in the field and the barn is just a bunch of straw piles they chill out in. It's gotten to the point where a bunch of dairies are actually trying out using composted manure as a bedding to cut costs.

It'd be Fing hilarious if it weren't so sad.

Natural gas prices spiking early today in Europe. Bloomberg says 25% spike. Oil prices up as well but not as much, 10% to start and then gradually flattening. USD up.

Three ships attacked and hit in the Strait. Those Iranian drones are a real economic threat.

Already had the price spike at the gas station here. Not a real big increase (yet), but the writing is on the wall that energy costs are gonna go way up.

Dow futures are already down over 600 points and crude prices were up 8% over the weekend.

One thing that ticks me off, other than having to pay more at the pump, is how the higher oil prices are just going to benefit Russia. It's good that European nations are starting to seize shadow fleet tankers, but a lot of what Russia moves is through pipe.

Overall this entire Iran thing seems like a net positive for Putin. Higher oil prices, distracted US, diverted US drones/defenseEquipment, more acceptance of aggression, etc.

Absolutely agree. The short term impact is very negative for Ukraine at the moment. Sure, Russia is losing another ally in the Middle East, but right now they’re probably seeing it as a win for their cause in Ukraine. Now we can be certain that the Kremlin will justify their attack with our attack against Iran. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Oh look orange Hitler is crashing the stock market again. Can we go back to caring about pedophilia now?

Knock off your TDS. This is a golden buying opportunity.

Good point. After 48 hours we've probably seen the worst of it.

Something tells me workers don't need to be retrained to not work because there are no jobs. People should be able to pick that up naturally.

Sinking like a stone this morning.

Yikes.
