If this remains the goal -- the elimination of all trade deficits -- then there can't be any deals. The largest consumer economy in the world, that primarily exports services now, can never have a trade surplus and that's not a goal even worth pursuing. We are here because the President is a moron.

Farmers by and large voted for this so tbh I don’t have much sympathy for them. They plant half their acreage in soybeans and then vote for the guy who wants to get in a trade war with China. On a side note one as the resident Russia hater the thing that grinds my gears in the market is that ag manufacturers are still selling in Russia. I haven’t seen that agco is, but I know Claas and Fiat (at least case IH) still do biz there. the supply chain issues for the manufacturers aren't going to help either. i don't have an issue with trump trying to get the country in a better position trade wise, but putting this high of tariffs, this quickly is just like the inflation rate spiking. it's too much, too much quickly. i know our company stopped doing business altogether with russia. They shut down the offices and said see ya.
