We needed a third wideout.  You can argue the cost of Dotson, but not the need IMO.  Other than those three it's Paris Campbell, John Ross, and Johnny Wilson.  Covey isnt a wideout and Ainias Smith may not even be an NFL player.

DE and oline depth is more of a need

It feels like we are finally letting the run set up the pass via play action. Last year we were obsessed with passing early and running late for some reason.

That should have been the plan from the beginning.  That's why you bring in a back like Saquon who is going to draw the attention of the defense.  That's why you want to establish him early to open up the passing game and that's where the big plays in the passing game can really come from.    When the defense brings up a safety to have an extra man in the box, you open up deep shots... when the LBs overcommit to the play fake you open up a hole over the middle to attack with the TE.

Outside of a weird TO and deciding to take it to the 2 min warning before half, Siri was fantastic.  I have no clue exactly how the dynamics and interactions work, but i imagine he’s the one going to Moore and Fangio dictating pace of the game. 

IRT Moore, I think we got to see what his playcalling should actually look like.

I said it after the game, from the actual play to coaching this was 60 mins of excellent football.  They figured out how to cool off a red hot Burrow too.

Dotson has been highly disappointing so far.  Covey going to be our main slot guy when he returns?  Also, what's going on with Johnny Wilson?

I see the remaining ten games as two, five-game segments.

The first (Jax, @ Dal, Was[TNF], @LAR, @BAL) is very tricky.  After Jacksonville, there are four losable games.  Two long plane rides.  The most important matchup on short rest.

The second (Car, Pit, @Was, Dal, NYG) is very favorable.  Four home games.  No flights.  Two horrible opponents.  The opportunity to bury a possibly imploded Dallas team.

Calcaterra has established himself as the fifth guy in the offense when Goedert returns, so who really cares who the slot receiver is when we should be in 12 personnel most of the time.

Which WR has the most receptions behind Brown and Smith?

Covey, and he hasnt played in 3 weeks 

Hes a WR, hes not a full time guy but hes smart and tough and quick.

Dotson who many considered a " wideout" has been invisible.

It almost felt like Howie went out and made that trade in reponse to all the "we need a third WR" articles from the beat writers during camp.  Been a total waste so far.

If he was, Hurts was late with the throw.  I am not sure that he was or if Hurts just didn't like what he saw.  My concern with the play is the throw was late and had no velocity.  If he made the throw sooner and got it in front of Gainwell, he would give him a chance to beat the defender.

I'm pretty sure most of Covey's receptions were screens.  I'm a big fan of Covey because I respect that he no longer fears death.

But he's not a wide out who's going to win on the outside consistently.

I think there was a lack of talent and Ainas Smith did not have a great camp.  Dotson hasn't produced but that seems to be a function of our offense not necessarily of his talent.  It was a relatively low cost upgrade to a position of need. 

Why should the Eagles throw to WR3 when they have Smith, AJ, Saquon, Goedert + Hurts runs?

If anything, I'd prefer an upgrade to TE2 as Stoll is a zero as a receiver. 

We can't overlook the fact that Covey just isn't a good WR. Guys were mad at Greg Ward and his 9 YPC. Covey, albeit a small sample size, is less than 5 YPC.

Fran Duffy said Brown was the primary on the play. Hurts got off him and didn’t really go through progressions and just went to the check down which was Gainwell.

Stoll is a decent blocker which is important given the calculator's deficiencies.

Covey does an admirable job on screens for an offense where no one but Goedert knows how to follow blockers and develop one.

He’s not acceptable running routes and being a WR.

Getting close to that top right.

Particularly with Goedert out. Calcaterra is a good receiver but hopeless as an in-line blocker.  He did have a nice block on a DB on Hurts' non-TP TD run.

I thought Stoll had a fine game. His block on the DE on the bomb to Devonta was terrific.
