He only has 130 carries so far

He also has an insane 4.3yds/carry before getting touched (that's higher than Henry). He was averaging 1.7yds with Giants. We don't need to baby his touches

Long season. There are no more byes. If we can keep him fresh at the end they'll be better for it when it really matters. Plus getting more opportunities to the rook wouldn't be a bad thing.

To update this stat since the streak continued….

Eagles point differential in 1st Qtr:  -26

In Qtrs 2 through 4:  +65

At least they scored on their first actual possession last game

As good as Diontae Johnson is, I think the Ravens probably could’ve used defensive help more than offensive

And he's still on pace to end up over his career high in attempts with 317.

For context, in the past 5 years, only 4 players would have more carries in a single season.

Agree to disagree on the usage of him

I did.

I credited the coaches for making adjustments and for better play calling. The team was prepared and focused, other than the slow starts. They didn't technically score in the 1st quarter, but did score on the drive that bled into the 2nd quarter.

This felt like the adjustments that we expected after the bye. Even Fangio on defense. The whole team had an all around good game.

Well aren't you special?!

Jokes aside, thanks. It's good to see that other people are willing to give coaches props as well

That would be something.

They'd have to move someone expensive to make it work though, I'd think.  Not sure who that would be.  Maybe Schwarber and/or Castellanos.

You'd expect this rumor, but I'm skeptical.  Phils are already over the luxury tax, so a $40m AAV might end up costing the team $50mil to $60mil per season.  Only way that would work is if you could convince Soto to take less the first few years and then move on from some of your other higher priced guys and jack his salary way up?

I fully expect Soto to be liked to every team with deep pockets, but in the end he probably will be either a Met or a Yankee.

Hear alot of complaints about David but Maxi Smith is an aboslute slug 🤣

That's more than a tad exaggerated.  Mahomes is almost always between 2.82 and 2.90 throughout his career.  He was 2.97 last season, largely because the WR talent he had to work with was diminished; it takes longer to throw the ball if it takes your targets longer to get open.

It's an extremely useful stat, because every NFL offense is designed to complete the throw to the target at the top of their route, and it's historically proven that QBs who hold the ball longer than 3 seconds as the norm take much more physical punishment.  QB injuries are mostly the result of cumulative punishment over the course of a season.  As Cam Newton and many RBs have demonstrated, cumulative punishment doesn't just go away over the course of an offseason.

I looked at it again and I now have no idea what I was looking at that led me to believe he was close to 4.0.

Reality waves.  There was nothing negative about what I posted.  What we have seen is exactly what we SHOULD see from this team, if they are a legit contender.  The fact that we haven't seen it consistently for about a full calendar year means that more data is needed before we know if they are truly "back" or just the beneficiaries of a good schedule.   Beating Cincy in Cincy for the first time ever is nice, but in the grand scheme of things, the previous record in Cincy is irrelevant to these players and this team.   The last time this team played at Cincinnati was 2016, and only Brandon Graham was there on the team then and now.  (Lane Johnson was suspended for that game and wasn't allowed to travel with the team.)

You discounted the win over Cincy by pointing to Higgins.  I was merely noting that you failed to balance your assessment by acknowledging our injuries.

Weird spot for them. Seems premature given he's only started 10 games in his career. But they need better play out of the QB and checking himself out was such a bad look.

I take it with a grain of salt because they were an average abruptly transitioning to very below average team for 18 games last year...and an average team for 6 games this year.  24 games should push 2022 out of our consideration.

But Sunday was incredible.  I think they played a team that played at a high level and ran into a buzz saw.  I have no idea if they can keep it going and may not hold my breath, but I don't think we can overstate just how good they were Sunday.

If I want to be optimistic, I could convince myself that the Hurts we saw on Sunday is becaue he has started to master the offensive concepts and is able to exploit defensives much more efficiently.  His issues with turnovers are in the rear view mirror. Moreover, the run game travels and can't be shut down by any team.  The defense has also turned the corner and will be able to shut down even top level QB play. The win against Cincy showed that eventually any offense will make a costly mistake if they have to dink and dunk down the field.  The back 7 are improving week to week, passing off receivers, and getting to the right spots in the zones.  DeJean is a shut down player in the nickel.  His tackling will make us think of Sheldon Brown.  Q-Mitchell is a modern day Eric Allen and at some point will come up with a huge play at a key time.  In short, I am currently snorting lines of green kool-aid off of my desk.

Richardson was a terrible pick, and over-drafted by about 2-3 full rounds, but I don't think this is a "seismic shift".

Joe Flacco is 39 years old and this is an effort by Colts coaches to keep their season afloat.  Flacco isn't the future -- he's barely the present, but he can provide a good level of play in the short term.

This is one where Steichen should tell Richardson to be glued to Flacco for the next couple of months and be a sponge.  Soak up everything he can learn about being a professional QB.  I don't think Flacco is capable of getting/keeping the Colts in playoff position for two months solid, so Richardson will get another chance later on.

If I were playing football at a professional level and the "leader" of the team took himself out because he was tired, I would never want to play with him again.

I have given Hurts a lot of crap over the years, but that dude would never.

Depends on the routes being run, some crossing and deep routes take 3-4 seconds to develop, so QB has to sense whether he has time - you don't want him panicking and dumping it off and negating a big play opportunity, or holding the ball too long with the pocket collapsing.

And of course the play calls will depend on how the OL is playing, if they're being caved on a regular basis (Giants game) you dial up a lot of plays with targets getting open quickly, when you give the QB time, slower developing plays.

Also depends on if the QB is mobile. Jalen probably throws away a lot less than a Tua or a Stafford does. A couple 8 second juke fiestas and then a dump off to Saquon is going to skew his entire game’s time-to-throw average

When asked why the Cowboys won’t be making a move before the trade deadline:

This is a real NFL GM in our division

If the football gods are kind to us, the Giants will continue to have faith in Daniel Jones after this year and Jerry Jones lives until he's 150 years old and doesn't give up any ownership power.

Super happy that they couldn't go the distance when he did build a great team

It almost felt like Howie went out and made that trade in reponse to all the "we need a third WR" articles from the beat writers during camp.  Been a total waste so far.

And if we had long term injuries to our starters everyone would bish about how we didn’t have any depth.

He’s more insurance than anything, and was never going to be anything more than the 5th option if everyone is healthy.
