Must-watch

The first two are awesome plays to see after this team had no answer to blitzes last year, and what I'd hope to see with the addition of Moore.   The play at 1:20 was a bad play.  That's not one to highlight.   Should have just given it to Barkley.  Pulling it put him in danger of taking a sack, and likely should have been called for grounding.  He never got out of the tackle box.  Didn't get the ball to the LOS.  He was bailed out by the referee with the judgement call that the hit affected the throw.   The rest of the plays were very good.    The one where he pulled it and ran over two guys he left the pocket with a much different purpose than most of the other times he broke the pocket.   He looked determined to keep it and get as much as he possibly could.  That was 2022 Hurts.

I was surprised by his size and mobility. Mailata usually makes players look small. Not this dude.

Becton is about the same size as Mailata.  6'7" 360+ lbs. for Becton.   6'8" 360+ lbs for Mailata.

Becton's play is going largely under the radar.  If he can sustain it, and remain healthy, that's a lottery ticket that absolutely could pay huge dividends... almost like the Jordan Mailata 7th round pick lottery ticket.    If he maintains it for about 8 more weeks, I could foresee Howie trying to lock him up for the future.

I was very big on that signing from the jump. He was a high first round pick on merit. Ah, those Jets.

It is quite astonishing how well he’s doing so soon. Talent, effort, and Stoutland. He and Dickerson may be the best set of guards in the league and those two and Jurgens are each 25.

You called it!

He looked so natural. Steen I think is going to be fine, but Becton's skillset is unique.

I think a lot of the panic I'm hearing about the pass rush stems primarily from the preseason preconceptions, that IMO, were never grounded in reality. I never saw the potential for this pass rush to be terrible. It may not be great. But at a minimum, Sweat and Huff are not chumps. They can play in this league. Carter is a stud. Graham still has something left in the tank. And as we saw in the Super Bowl, bad footing can negate that.

I think people were just waiting at the first opportunity to trash the pass rush. And I say that as someone who HATED the Reddick trade and still thinks they could use another edge rusher. But I think it's so far removed from major concern let alone panic.

Becton was having fun out there too. I saw him involved in a few celebrations. Love seeing guys buying into the culture.

On the second snap there you can see what I was talking about. Becton pulls from RG and pass blocks on the left side, just as Seumalo used to do. In his first real game at RG. SMH.

Becton is a monster. It's mind boggling that Howie was able to sign him for so cheap.

I think @we_gotta_believementioned it last night but did any reporters ask why they were doing the silent count.

That was filthy. His movement, F.

He talked about being in a better headspace after his bad tenure with the Jets. That had to take a toll on him. Stoutland really does some incredible work with these guys. There isn't a tighter unit on the team than those guys and when they buy into Stout's culture it's a beautiful thing.

Some interesting next gen stats ... Only 4 teams have played so far, but here are the fastest ball carriers of the week:

#1 --- AJ Brown 21.05 mph (on the 67 yard TD)

#2 --- Saquon Barkley 19.92 mph (33 yard run)

#3 --- Saquon Barkley 19.76 mph (18 yard TD reception)

#4 --- Jalen Hurts 19.47 mph (2 yard run OB)

#7 --- Jayden Reed 18.8 mph (33 yard rushing TD)

#9 --- Lamar Jackson 18.45 (11 yard rush)

#10 --- Xavier Worthy 18.45 (21 yard TD rush)

To be honest it was an easy call. Anyone with eyes could tell Becton was talented and needed to leave the Jets

Seeing the cheater Wolverines get curb stomped at home brings me great joy

I have a feeling his next contract won't be so cheap though.

If he keeps this play up, that is.

He'll get a contract extension by week 6

Saquon was my favorite Penn St player in a long time so to be able to root hard for him again last night was just awesome. Couldn’t be happier for him being out of that dumpster fire in New York. He’s always deserved better. He’s special and should be the focal point of the offense moving forward. They need to make him their McCaffrey.

They need to stop trying to make Jalen Hurts as a field general a thing. He’s closer to Brock Purdy and Tua than he is Mahomes, Burrow, or Allen. And that’s not the worst thing in the world. They can still win a lot of games with that philosophy because he’s capable of making good plays. But he isn’t consistent and it’s just a law of averages thing where the more often you put the ball in his hands the more likely those disaster plays will show up.
