There's the old line: Chances of that are Slim and none and Slim left town.

I think this idea that Reddick is just going to fall off a cliff because he hits this arbitrary age has been way oversold. Especially if Huff ends up sucking here. I don't think he will, but if he does where is the pass rush coming from? They aren't going to win a championship if they can't get pressure.

We'll find out if it was the right move in January or February, I think it's too early to say right now. A variety of things will dictate that. But it certainly could prove to be a really poor decision and I don't consider it all that unrealistic. To me the Eagles losing in January because the pass rush wasn't up to par is no less likely than Reddick getting paid and being highly productive for a few more seasons.

Looking at the Falcons' defensive personnel, this should be a game where we can run on them.

They just don't have the ass-kickers in the front 7 to stop us. There's no Rashan Gary or Kenny Clark on that unit (all respect to Grady Jarrett off the torn ACL).

As such, it's time to take away those RPOs and just give one of Gainwell/Shipley 5 carries. We can't give Saquon 20 carries a game, especially against an opponent we're better than. Save him for close games or big-games

Well, there's the Isaiah Rodgers mystery solved. He had surgery.

But that makes Devin White all the more murkier. Rodgers had surgery and surely knew he wouldn't be playing if he hopes to be ready 10 days later, but he still flew to Brazil. Meanwhile White didn't.

If Rodgers can't go on Monday night, which makes sense, they can't put Avonte in.

Kelee Ringo is a better run defender against a run-first team AND the Falcons are full of big WRs.

I'm on the fence. What you say makes sense but their primary slot WR is Ray-Ray McCloud. That seems like a guy you'd want Maddox on over Mitchell and especially Ringo.

The Atlanta Falcons are 1-9 in Philadelphia since 1988.  They don't really play well in Philly.   Kirk Cousins is 3-10 on Monday Night Football.   The Eagles have beaten Kirk the last two years in Week 2 Primetime.   Saint Nick will be in the building.  I don't want any excuses.

Assumption: If Ringo plays, Mitchell is in the slot.

Would you rather the Falcons run Bijan, throw to Pitts on one of our LBs, throw to London on Ringo or Slaw or throw to McCloud covered by Mitchell?
Easy choice for me.

They already had room on the PS right? Not sure why they released him from it in the first place.

Just timing and procedure. Everything goes through at the same time so they didn't have room when they wanted to bring Sterns back so they had to release someone. At the same time, Okwara was signed by the Cardinals, so they had an open spot after the fact.

Morphing into an ultra team first contributor who dominates on STs would do a hell of a lot more for Devin White's career than pouting about losing a camp battle and sitting out each week.

Okwara was signed from the Cardinals PS, not the Eagles. Okwara was poached a couple weeks ago. I think they already had room to begin with.

We had a spot available because of the McMahon departure.

Oh, I thought he was on ours for some reason. The McMahon transaction went through yesterday afternoon for the Rams, so I guess same reason but different player.

My only concern is the fact they are coming off an International game.  Sure they got an extra day to rest but it still a monkey wrench in their routine.  I don't think the Falcons will look as bad as they did against the Steelers and Kirk is more experience than J. Love.   But he's coming off an injury and he's on a new team trying to figure things out.  Even if our young Defense gives up some plays, I don't believe their Defense can completely stop our Offense.

If you could do something crazy, get the Jets to eat half his contract, and have 15 games of Reddick for $6.3mm...yeah, I'd do that for a late pick. But the Jets will never do that. Reddick would have to be willing to play it out and try to put up stats to get paid (not happening), and the Jets aren't eating $6.3mm for a late round pick. Honestly, if they ate $10mm+, I'd give them their pick back (assuming Reddick reported and played, put that condition on it). But none of this will happen.

Especially since this would be the 3rd or 4th time straight he did it. I understand wanting to get paid after playing out only to not get the contract

I'm not saying they can't lose but how is this considered a trap game? It's week 2, Atlanta lost a one-possession game to one of the best defenses in the league last week, the Eagles have the Saints week 3 who aren't necessarily a look-ahead team, and everyone knows Atlanta has some pretty decent weapons on offense. It's too early in the season to see which teams are bad.

So, the real test?

I think the lesson we all learned last year is that the "real test" doesn't start until the second half of the season and what form they are in heading into the final quarter of the year. They can start off 7-1 and all of us will be happy and screaming Super Bowl. But we all know what happened last year. As far as individual games I'm looking forward to, I want to see how they play in Dallas. Dak has absolutely cooked them in that stadium for a while now and I want to see how the defense holds up. So that's a game I would have circled as a "test".
