We’ve seen plenty of evidence of Shanahan offenses making average OLs look good, and most NFL QBs can produce when well protected. If Carr is forced to lead w/o a run game to rely upon, then yes the whole thing might fall off the rails.

It doesn’t have to go as far as "off the rails”. Just come back down to earth.

The Saints have a decent defense as well. They don’t necessarily need 40 to beat us.

It's really early for the hype for him was really high and he hasn't shown anything IMO

I wouldn't mind trying

@mattwill 30-20 Eagles

Cowboys lose, 49ers lose … just like last season when eagles need to handle business they fall flat. AJ is out.

Falcons win by 6.

Do you have a pessimistic score prediction to go with that pessimistic take?

@mattwill Eagles 37-17

Saquon 3 TDs

Sounds like 6-0 Falcons to me.   :lol:    Would be harder to be Eagles -3 to Falcons 3.

The Birds are back in Philly.  This is the "2nd" Home game after Brazil but the 1st in Philly.   For the third Straight year, they will play Kirk Cousins in Primetime.   This time he's with the Falcons.   The Eagles lead the All-Time Series 21-15-1.   The Falcons play the Eagles much better in ATL.  But in Philly they are a horrible 1-9 since 1988.  Primetime Kirk on Monday Night is 3-10.   With that said, Kirk does still have a lot of experience I don't expect him to play as bad as last week.  Meanwhile the Birds are without AJ so other people on Offense have to step up.  Not to mention it's Saint Nick's Retirement Game.    Look losing AJ is always hard but I feel hopefully this opens up the Offense more since he's Jalen's #1 target.  Saquon, Smitty an Goedert shoulder the load but it should be enough.   Kirk is coming off a big injury and is much slower so this young Defense should feast.    I expect another 30 Burger and the Birds move to 2-0 for the 3rd straight season:

BIRDS - 37

DIRTY BIRDS - 23

JALEN - RUSH TD

SAQUON RUSH TD/PASS TD

DEVONTA - PASS TD

JAKE - FG x 3

DEFENSE: INT, MUTIPLE SACKS, FUMBLE

I  also expect a "Philly Philly" Trick play with either Saquon or Jalen in honor of Nick

@mattwill

I simplified your Bonus prediction down to the Trick play.

I think him and Anthony Richardson are in a similar boat. Caleb is a little more technically sound, but they're both extremely athletic guys who are going to have to learn to play within their system and not rely on hero plays. Richardson is very frustrating to watch because he has the talent to make throws like you saw last week on that bomb to Pierce, but then misses the most basic routes. It's really going to come down to coaching for the both of them. The only reason I might be higher on AR is because of Steichen. Eberflus is a dead man walking in Chicago so if they bring someone like Ben Johnson or Bobby Slowik in next season to coach Caleb, that would probably be the best thing for him. But they need to fix that offensive line, first and foremost.

What happens to coaches when they have a true stud RB at their disposal.

I'm confused how a Grade 2 can be considered day to day

@mattwill

27-16 Eagles

Prediction: Dotson is outside of the top 4 for receptions despite the Brown injury

Maybe it's a difference between strain and sprain. If it was a sprain, there's no way.

Right?  I went to Grade 2  for like 730 days!

When's the last time we blew a team out? 2022 NFCCG? Could argue Miami last season, I guess, but that wasn't really a blowout.

I hope we see that again tonight. I'm tired of the close games.

I think we'll get a lead and then let them come back a little in garbage time

This also applies to Daniels and some other young QBs.

HCs feeling the pressure to win now are playing these young QBs too early, Eagles handled Hurts right, let them set and get them into games at the end of the season so they get a taste of the pro game but aren't over their heads.

And don't fall into the temptation of winning games by using them as "running QBs."  Teach them how to be pocket QBs first, read defenses, THEN add QB runs, etc. once they have the basics down. They'll do plenty of running for their lives their first couple years in the league. I think that has been a mistake with Hurts that hopefully Moore can rectify, get him to focus more on pocket passing and run fewer RO and QB runs.

Though unless a true franchise QB is available, I'd trade down, built my OL and go with a scrub, then once an offensive structure is in place, THEN draft my young QB.

Putting a young QB behind a below average OL is a recipe for disaster.

Forget that. I want a game where the majority of the time I hate the team and wonder if it's abusive that I'm raising my daughter to be an Eagles fan only for us to pull out a win after a classic ill timed Kirk Cousins pick 6 in the 4th quarter.

If they did it right it was by accident not planning. They are no different from every other team throwing the high draft pick QB into the fire. They did it with Wentz lest we forget. The only reason they didn't do it with Hurts was because Wentz was the clear #1 at the start of the season. Only after his wheels came off did we turn to Hurts.

strain = tendons/muscles

sprain = ligaments

The distinction does not indicate severity.
