I don't think there is more injury concern for Jurgens than any other player out there.

He was playing a different position that he's undersized for, which contributed to his injury. Stout said one of the main benefits to having Jurgens play guard was not to learn the position, but to be out there playing right next to Kelce and see how he makes the calls.

Yes, but he got hurt more than once last year and had to miss time. So durability has to be a question for him. Kelce on the other hand was an iron man. The only time he was out was in 2012, the year everyone got hurt, after which Lurie thought it was a brilliant idea to fire a future Hall of Fame head coach.

Proud to say I've made it this far in life without listening to that or Chocolate Rain.

I have no experience with long distance (8+ hour flights). I wonder if a 12 hour flight in the same or an adjacent time zone would be easier than a U.S. - E.U./U.K. with 4 - 5 time zones flight like the Jags do frequently. Brazil may not be such a bad deal, just don't be stupid while you're there.

It is. What really screws up your body is the time zone change. Even going from LA to NYC, I can't sleep the first night and am exhausted the next day. It takes a couple days to adapt. The actual time on the plane isn't that rough, especially in a premium seat.

Is this thread a RAS-free zone?

My biggest concern this year is pass rush from the ends. Can Sweat get back to form? Is Huff the guy we all hope he can be? Can Nolan Smith take the next step? Will Jalyx Hunt be a factor?

What I'm most looking forward to is AJ and Smitty dominating now that there's a viable 3rd WR that teams have to respect, along with Saquon's skillset.

I hear you.  But serious question, did you notice a slight decline in Kelce’s play last season?  I ask because I thought I did, but I’d defer to your opinion on the oline

Eagles 13-4

Please quote @mattwill with your predictions.

Eagles 13-4

SB Champs (unless the NFL darling KC Chiefs make it to the SB)

Kenny Pickett wins SB MVP

I have a feeling that Fangio will really turn the D around this year.  They were way too talented to rank near the bottom of the league last season.

Mike Tannenbaum on ESPN this morning predicted Love will throw for 450 yards and 4 TDs against the Eagles in Brazil.

God I really want them to sack Love like 5-6 times and get a couple turnovers.  I know the offense will be fine once they get rolling a few games into the season, but I really want the D to come out early and put the league on notice

Jalen Hurts embracing more responsibility with Jason Kelce gone

Quarterback Jalen Hurts said he's excited for a larger role on the Philadelphia Eagles offense after feeling like Jason Kelce's presence limited his control at the line of scrimmage, Brenden Deeg of theScore reports.

"I think in the end, when you look at this upcoming season and what you have seen in years past, it's just different autonomy in different places," Hurts told 94WIP Thursday.

"We had a great player in Jason Kelce who took on a lot of responsibility, and as a result of that, I was told not to worry about a lot of things. And so my eagerness to learn over the years kind of was halted because of who we had, but now times are different, and I'm excited for that journey and this opportunity."

Kelce, who retired this offseason after 13 campaigns with the club, was responsible for setting protections and reading blitz pickups for the Eagles. Teams blitzed Hurts on 38.7% of his dropbacks last season, which was the second-most of any quarterback behind Jordan Love, per Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Hurts was also pressured 43.6% of the time when opponents sent five or more rushers at him, completing 62.6% of his passes for eight touchdowns and eight interceptions in those situations. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers blitzed Hurts on 69.2% of his dropbacks in Philadelphia's wild-card loss.

The Eagles offense faltered down the stretch in 2023, scoring 18.8 points per game while compiling a 1-6 record in their last seven contests.

"It's been a role that I've been waiting on," Hurts said, according to Tim McManus of ESPN. "I know we've had a well-respected, Hall of Fame guy who's been doing that, and now we (have) the opportunity to do that. It's something I've been wanting, and I think that's how it's supposed to be.

What the hell are they doing here??

I think Fangio was our most important addition this offseason. Clearly he would have been the DC had Gannon and the Cardinals been honest. Once he was gone, we were left with limited options and ended up with a guy (Desai) who was clearly overmatched (and this hurts to say as a fellow Indian). The personnel losses at safety and linebacker, along with the downgrade in coordinator, had the defense in decline. And then, we made the switch to Patricia and it all went to hell. I still think making the switch to Patricia cost Sirianni the locker room -- it showed panic and Patricia is generally hated (he was a debacle with the Lions). Add on Patricia being arrogant and trying to change the defense and add new concepts, and the players clearly had no clue out there and quit.

Everyone keeps asking what happened to the Eagles last year, focusing on Hurts/Sirianni. The answer is the coaching staff panicked, overreacted, and it cost them the locker room.

This is a really good podcast listen regarding having Fangio in the house.

Jalen Carter? Quinyon Mitchell? Devin White? How the Pieces Fit in Vic Fangio’s Defense.

Pretty much how I see it.  Yes the offense was also lacking, but much of that was due to always having a play ‘catch up’ or at least ‘keep up’.  They were pressing more.  I put a lot of that on the defense’s performance (or lack there of). Even when they started 10-1, no one felt comfortable… Those games were agonizing to watch.

It would be nice to let the offense play more with a comfortable lead.  They had that a lot in 2022, never last year it seemed.

Jurgen's has more raw physical talent (almost as athletic and a legitimate 300 lbs) but there's just a little experience and football IQ gap between the two.

Though the falloff from Kelce last year to Jurgens wouldn't be as drastic as it would have been 2-3 years ago.

Jurgen's experience playing OG will help him at C, he'll be better prepared to handle DTs lined up over him.

I think it was time for AR to move on, for his sanity.

This is only Hurt's 4th season as a starter, about the point when most QBs hit their peak.

It's time for him to take control of the offense, and he has a QB friendly OC who will give him more options.

What I'm looking for is Eagle receiving targets to get more separation, Barkley and Dotson will help there, but also Moore scheming to get secondary targets open using mismatches, and forcing teams to move away from blanketing Brown and Smith.

FWIW, Sao Paolo is the safest city in Brazil when it comes to homicide rate. So, there's that. Though the country on the whole is quite dangerous. Sao Paolo has about the same homicide rate as Denver or Tucson.

His son dying at training camp that August - I'm not sure how he could have gone to Lehigh again. It was time for him to move on.

Denver is going through some stuff right now...

The funniest thing about this to me is at first glance, it just looks like the Eagles regular helmet. The Midnight Green helmet reflects light so many different ways that half the time it does look black. It's why the black helmet was dumb to begin with.

Crime wise it's been going in the wrong direction for a while.  Big reason why we left.
