The NFL will do what it thinks is best to increase their own bottom line and they will give very very little consideration to the NCAA or HS levels, as evidenced by the Eagles-Packers game on Friday night, which is historically HS football night.  The NFL is only ever worried about the NFL.  So, expect them to trample over anyone and everyone in their move to expand to 18 games.

I doubt that. The NFL has a symbiotic relationship with college and indirectly with HS football as that is the pipeline for developing potential entertainers. Couple that with a Congress that controls their limited antitrust exemptions.  They are already facing political battles regarding stadium funding and moves.  There are a bunch of states with no teams. (Unlike baseball that has a much broader antitrust exemption and minor league teams all over the place).  Thus they need to appease the representative from the states and even districts without teams. Those same representatives aren’t going to turn a blind eye to what their constituents want for the NFL.  NFL will push the envelope but they won’t bite the hand that feeds them. Take Nebraska. No NFL team but
Lincoln on Saturday…. Or even Texas with two teams but a long way from San Antonio or Austin and even further for Mojo on Friday nights.  And the first two weeks of college football, especially Labor Day weekend, is when the Little Sisters of the Mercy make the bucks playing bigger schools on TV (which also helps recruiting). Mess with their revenue for 32 billionaires?  That’s plain stupid.

I like bringing Driscoll back to the PS. The familiarity is a plus.

Chucky is back. Not too much to the video though.

If I’d been on the Walt Whitman I don’t think I would have been as kind to Chucky. At the Eagles, he was awful.

How many n-bombs does he drop in it?

Probably not as many that were caught on the hot-mic during the PSU/WVU game.

I can’t say for certain but I think it is extremely unlikely that it would be blacked out. That would kind of defeat their purpose.

I hope not. I default my VPN to Philly. If I have any trouble I this non local local locale, I can just shut off the VPN. Comcast (Peacock’s owner knows I am not in NBC10’s viewing area.)

Caden Sterns era over

Is that former UCLA slot/PR Kyle Philips?

I’m not s high on the packers as others. They were a meh r team that got hot at the end of the season and had a good playoff showing but I don’t think their roster is that great. I think people are looking at what they did in the playoffs and assume that’s what they are now and I don’t think they are.

I shouldnt be, but Im kinda pumped about Kyle Phillips. He was a better version of Roman Wilson. Uncoverable out of the slot. A surefire instant impact slot guy. And I do remember some positive moments in his rookie year. Im not sure what happened to him now. Crazy that he progressed and really solidified a role in the league as a WR and punt returner. I hope he can develop in to a legit option here.

Out of college I was an investment banker in LA, so the redeye to NYC was a monthly thing (at a minimum). Back then I was working 80-110 hours a week, and there was no Wi-fi on planes, so the LA-NYC flight was a guaranteed 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I'd be out before takeoff in business class (or first if I could get the upgrade). It was heaven. But I'd do it because we'd land at JFK around 5:30am, head to the city, and only have time to shower and head to the office.

Once I left banking, I swore off redeyes. Now, I just crash after I land and get to the hotel.

My last purposeful red eye, I was in LA testifying in an arbitration hearing (we won) and got a call from one of our attorneys that one of our cases in SC was going to trial and I was needed to testify in it the next day.  I booked a red eye.  Last seat on the plane.  Last row next to a guy that was probably 400 lbs in the window seat and a young mother holding her baby.  Last row seats don’t recline but the seats right in front of them do.  That baby cried (screamed) all night until right before touchdown.  That was it for me domestically.  Jury probably thought I was drunk from the night before.

Jalen, Donovan and Michael are going to be a new Documentary about the History of Black Quarterbacks on Amazon.  Michael is actually interviewing Black QB's past and present all over the Country.  Can't wait to watch:

They probably could have saved a lot of time and effort if they started with Moon and then do an Eagles documentary.

While everyone else makes a big deal about black QBs it’s pretty much all we know

There are a couple points of concern for me about the Packers.

1. Love broke out last year and should only continue to progress.

2. Love broke out last year- without Christian Watson. Jayden Reed was a rookie, and Doubs was a little disappointing. So, Love broke out last year without real threatning weapons.

3. Watson is back this year. At least, healthy for week 1. Jayden Reed in year 2 should is also now an established threat.

4. Green Bay hasnt really had a run game since Ahman Green. Lacy was a farce. Aaron Jones is a really nice player who is mostly a receiving threat. They now potentially have a running game with a legit runner of the football in Josh Jacobs.

In summary- this is the first time in a long time the Packers have a well rounded attack on offense. Young breakout QB, threats at WR, and a legit RB who may give them a real runner, and still threatens in the passing game too.

Eagles are better. Eagles should win. But even if you feel GB was overrated last year- they were at least solid and appear ready to ascend to "good".

@mattwill

Eagles 30

Packers 22

BG with 1.5 sacks

I can’t stand domestic red eyes.  If you are taking it, chances are you are doing it because you have something to do/function the next day.  Which means you are going to be dragging.  And if there are delays, then everything falls apart.

International is a different story.  I always felt the key was to find a way not to fall asleep (after landing)  until 9pm, ideally 10, once you reach your destination.  That works if you are going East and land in the AM or West and land several hours behind your internal clock.

South America is very easy with jet lag due to minimal time change.  This is barely different for them than a west coast game.  It’s just an extra 3.5 hours on the plane.  But that is more than neutralized by this being week 1 on the front end and 2 extra days rest on the back end.

On the flip side, there’s now a lot of film on Love that wasn’t available last season. I feel like I’m in the minority here but I think the packers come back down to earth. They had a great playoff run but I don’t think that roster is as good as everyone is hyping them up to be

Agreed, eagles are the better squad and should win this game

I think they’re good but people are picking them to go to the Super Bowl and I think that is going way overboard by their playoff showing.

Id agree with that. Theyre not super bowl contenders. The NFC just really sucked last year.

What happened?

Starting to seem like that ad might have actually been put up by the Eagles organization despite their backtrack.  Their directer of team relations Christian Molnar has deleted a tweet saying it's a crime that the one guy was out there covering up the infamous ad.  A lot on Twitter right now about this for those interested.
