Stupid coaching decisions and poor pass rush doomed the team tonight.

Clearly, this OL is better running the ball than pass pro.  They need to commit to the run until the othe team stops them.  Might to get a better backup RB than Gainwell.

On occassions that Hurts got pressured, both Dickerson and Becton struggled to pick up the DL twist.

Huff brings nothing.  I don't see many stunts/twists from the DL.  Guys aren't beating their man one on one.  Need to scheme it up.  If they are going to keep doing what they are doing with the pass rush idk what they can do besides get Reddick a deal.

I'd love to hear Fangios thoughts after the game and what exactly he was trying to accomplish on the last drive.

Frankly just assuming huff would make a leap from situational pass rusher and smith could could after he didn’t show much last year (was barely used) and he was injury prone at Georgia was a big leap of faith. I felt that way before Reddick was dealt.

This is what I feared about Huff and his small sample size ... people assumed with more snaps he'd be even better. Welp

Yeah but I mean this is like super prevent or something.

No need to keep guys that far back in these late game situations.

I’m just ish-posting at this point because that game was annoying

Still early in the season. Still the Eagles division to lose. I’m a believer until the wheels fall off. A win next week will be huge.

Looking at the big picture, the Eagles do not have a good record, at least since 2000, for the second game of the season.  Only 9-16.

I think Saints will fall as hard as they rose and we beat them next week and then lose to the Bucs. I feel a roller coaster season coming.

I have to go to work tomorrow and I work with a Falcons fan so I'm sure I'll hear about it.

Not much he can say though.  He knows he was given an early Christmas gift.

A lot of blame to go around.

The defense on the last drive was inexcusable.

Hurts decisions, hesitation, and playing like a mid tier QB.

Barkley dropped a gimme.

There is no pass rush.

Siri is a moron.

I think it's more likely we lose to the Saints and possibly beat Tampa if anything.

Unless the Saints suddenly come back to Earth or Fangio makes some needed chamges.

Makes sense

Carr is the one QB that crashes back to Earth at 100 mph

Don’t disagree. However, the eagles still think that this scheme is the best scheme to run in today’s NFL. It’s not. I would have to go find it but there was data that the scheme is becoming less and less effective over the years. That scheme has been passed. Add on the fact that your pass rush still stinks like it did at the end of last year and you can’t stop the run. You’re gonna have major problems. Because you have outdated scheme ans you don’t do anything particularly well on defense. Answer this question, what do the Eagles do well on defense right now? There’s really nothing you could hang your hat on. Red zone defense is about it. And frankly i think that is going to look much different heading into the bye week

I read 5 pages of comments before you finally pointed out the run defense.  I can’t believe this isn’t a huge issue for most posters.  It was quite bad against the Packers, and absolutely dreadful tonight.  The DL looks like a complete tear down right now — with a #9, 13, and 30 overall picks invested!!

Huff has been invisible, I wish CJGJ was invisible instead of blowing open field tackles for TD romps each week, and Slay hasn’t done a thing either.

The Hurts TD pass to DeVonta Smith was an anomaly tonight.  Hurts is not capable of throwing into tight windows, so defenses will begin keying on him and Barkley running inside the 15 like the Falcons did tonight.

It’s almost comical how people clamoured for anyone but Sirianni to run the offense and call plays — yet as soon as the Eagles called a play that didn’t work late, the peanut gallery defaults back to "Fire Sirianni”.  Pretty sure we all wanted Moore calling plays in those moments; live with the good and the bad.  The worst decision Sirianni actually made was not kicking the FG on the first drive.  Coming away with nothing there just keeps the weaker team from falling behind and gives them momentum.

Fangio defense did what it was supposed to do for the most part. Slays tendencies were used against him, he just didn’t execute. I’m sure he would also like different personnel as well.

eagles offense ball controlling in the second half allowed the falcons to have about 10 mins of time of possession. The Falcons scored 3 of the 4 possessions. 2 tds and a FG. We can say better personnel but if the grandfather of the defensive scheme you wants to run can’t make guys better in his scheme then maybe your scheme isn’t all that great

I like Sirianni but if they can get Belichick I'd be all for it.

As long as he stays away from drafting players.

I’m with that, Coach the team. Sirianni press conference was "I want a smart team” … 4 years later you’d be lying if you said the Eagles were a smart team.

Am I missing something?  Did Hurts not throw a perfect throw to Barkley?  Did he not carry a heavy load on his shoulder tonight?  Did he let Cousins go however many yards with 1 minute left and no timeouts for a TD?  Did he decide to go for it on 4th when the offense was not grooving at all in the 1st?

He decided to play hero ball and not learn from Seattle last year. Despite all the rest all he had to do was get them in FG range with a TO in his pocket. Cousins got the job done. Hurts thew a dumb pick.

I'm going to smoke a doobie and watch The King of Queens. And with any luck, late 90’s Leah Remini and I will bang like rabbits in my dreams.

I didn’t love the play call, but it was executed well until Barkley dropped it. To me the biggest problem I have from this game is the Eagles allowed a team to go 70 yards in 65 seconds without any timeouts to score the game-winning touchdown. This is crap they did last year. Now you have Vic Fangio here and he was supposed to be the savior. Oh will be better defensively that won’t happen. You literally have the same exact Fing problems you had at the end of last year. Little to no pass rush. Poor against he run. And couldn’t stop a nose bleed at the end of the game or halves. The scheme Fing sucks.

I never understood the fascination with this guy and his defensive philosophy. They brought him in as a consultant for the Super Bowl and they got absolutely destroyed by Kansas City in the second half.

It also seems like Fangio is playing right now with like 5 guys on defense who don't feel like Fangio type players. Which makes me wonder just what in the hell was going on there during free agency. I thought Howie and Fangio were supposed to be on the same page when evaluating defense players.

I get the jets as an organization do stupid things like trade for Reddick and not give him a new contract at time of trade. But what concerned me was they have a defensive minded coach. If he really wanted to keep Huff I’m guessing they would’ve found a way to make it work and increase his role. He didn’t

Fire Sirianni for exactly the reason you mentioned. The guy is a buffoon, literally zero reason not to take the points there

He can’t make CJ tackle to prevent a TD when he has to learn to tackle above the waist in open space this season. And he can’t make Slay not fall back into worrying about looking to play inside when clearly he is the only one that can cover that out route.
