What? Defense is definitely blamed. However when you lead the league in turnovers since the start of 2023 and your turnovers/decision making are also a problem.

we can blame the defense. And we should for allowing the Falcons to march 70 yards in a minute and five seconds. Allow them to go 60 yards in 4 plays.

If you wanna sit there with your head in the sand pretending like leading the league in turnover since the start of last year and his decision making has been questionable at multiple times so far this season you go right ahead. I find it BS though because I’m guessing most people were grilling Carson wentz when he made poor decisions and leading the league in turnovers with a crap defense and an offense with far less talent in 2020

I would say for 59.5 minutes, Jalen played a clean and efficient game. I had no real issues with his performance at all and was encouraged by the return of his running threat. The pick at the end sucked, but I'm not sure even Goedert was really open there. Best play may have been to tuck and run.

If we get that performance from Jalen, we should beat a team like the Falcons, even without AJ. The coaching and defense made sure that we didn't.

Let's blame the offense.

How many tds we score yesterday in the redzone? If the offense finishes with more tds than fgs that game is a blowout. the defense sucks but offense isn’t helping

As I said to my son last night on the way home listening to Nick and Jalen, "get used to the fact that you’re gonna feel way worse about this game than any of the players will.”

Yeah, but was he proud of dad when you beat @EaglePhan1986's arse in the parking lot right in front of him?

His interception was pretty boneheaded. He deserves some blame.

I have to wait to watch the all 22. But based off the TV copy, it looks like goedert on a check down is at least 4-5 yards from the closest defender.

I said those last night, the new NFL kicking rule allows you to get in field goal range really easily with 34 second and 2 timeouts. That extra 5 yards might not seem like a lot, but in reality it is. Instead of having to go 30 to 35 yards. You only have to go 25 to 30 yards to get yourself in field goal range with how kickers kick nowadays. So realistically after you picked up 13 yards on first down with 27 seconds, you were in really good shape. All you really needed was anywhere from 12 to 15 yards to get the field goal range with Jake Elliott. It was a poor decision.

Thats pretty worrying tbh.

Honestly i'd get rid of Nick rn. maybe they'll wait until we lose the next 2 games and have the bye though.

This is after they worked on tackling all week

The Eagles' offense right now
- Top 5 in points
- Top 6 in EPA/Drive
- Top 6 in yards
- Top 4 in Time of Possession

If the defense is ranked 25th, instead of 30-32, we're a SB contender.

Looking at some of the clips online, the right move was to throw it away. Goedert would have been a small gain and tackled in bounds, IMO, costing you the last timeout. Just throw it away and move on.

The defence isn’t completely to blame but that last drive by the falcons. Social distanced rubbish. Nobody got near cousins and the falcons receivers were barely touched if at all. They brought up a stat that the eagles had 3 losses when leading with 2:00 left. I remember one game where it happened and the eagles scored and there was that crushing feeling of the defense will not stop them opponent.

Defense deserves it's blame for sure but this is two weeks they have managed to keep the team in the game with timely red zone stops. They held the Falcons to 9 points for almost 3 entire quarters and the offense isn't building leads in that entire stretch. Same thing happened against the Packers.

The issue with that last play is you have to know the situation. The situation with the new NFL kickoff rule having 34 seconds and two timeouts it is much easier to get in the field goal range. You’re starting at the 30 yard line. You’re not starting at the 25. That 5 yards seems Minuscule but really you only have to go 25-27yards to get yourself into range for Elliott. Instead of 30-32. The fact of the matter is this, you don’t need to go for it downfield considering where you are after the first play having 27 seconds and a timeout.

I say this about Kyler Murray on here all the time. He will play well for majority of the game and then have one or two wtf/bad decisions that hurts the Cardinals. That is essentially what you are getting from hurts since the bills

At least we get to watch them lose on sunday without it affecting our sleep

Either way it was a poor decision knowing the situation. Again the new NFL kickoff rule makes it so easy to get yourself into field goal range when you have two timeouts and 34 seconds. It basically made you have to go 25 yards instead of 30. Plus you picked up 13 yards on first down. So you still have 27 seconds and one timeout. That is plenty of time to get yourself 12 to 15 yards annd into Elliott’s range. The decision to go downfield was a bad decision that was similar to Seahawks last year where he didn’t need to make it

and this isn’t me letting the defense off. my bigger issue is the defense giving up that touchdown drive in a minute and five seconds. Their defense to me is a far bigger problem. Because it’s essentially the same thing you saw at times last year. But I'm not going to sit here and ignore that hurts since the start of last year has made poor decisions/leads the league in turnovers and since the bills game isn’t part of the reason they are 2-7 over that stretch.

You can't pay your QB $250 million and have the offense go to crap any time one of his receivers goes down. The same thing happened last year when he missed the playoff game and my guess is he'll be out until after the bye. Hurts will always be dependent on the talent around him, as most quarterbacks are. But even without AJ, there is more than enough talent for the offense to not look as chaotic and out-of-sync like it did last night. Sam Darnold carved up San Francisco with Jefferson and Hockenson out. Did they run one RPO where they didn't have an ineligible man downfield? I remember three of those off the top of my head. I have no idea what is going on there. Hurts definitely needs to be more decisive when he pulls it, but even on the Covey screen which was a good gain, he threw it quick and Jurgens was still downfield too far.

This team is just so poorly coached.

Yeah it's like they don't believe their eyes when they see Devonta making catch after catch and just talk themselves into "can't do that all game" like just abuse it

It's kinda up to interpretation I guess. I'll try to find a clip of it. Someone started asking about the decision to throw and who it came from and he kinda cut them off and said "Kellen Moore is the offensive coordinator, he calls the plays. I'm the head coach. Don't try to stir things up".

Implying he wasn't even aware or on board with the decision? I can even understand the rationale of the play call, but as a head coach, at least take some F'ing ownership. Ugh, what a weasel. I'm so done with him.

I have been a critic of Howie a long time especially drafting on defense. However, he improved in recent years. We were happy with the recent drafts on paper, mostly. But you can't fix a defense completely in a year or two. On paper, Howie did a good job giving the coaches talent. Yes, there are gaps and weak spots. Consider what Howie has given the coaches.

  • Coaching was an issue, so he got an experienced veteran DC. We may not like his scheme or style but at least he created the scheme and should be skilled enough to coach these guys up.
  • Rebuilt the secondary with getting CJGJ back, drafting Q and DeJean. Blankenship was an UDFA gem. Ringo, Rodgers, Ricks quality guys as backups. Still have Slay. I didn't like bringing back Maddox or Bradberry but at least that's not all they relied on.
  • Jalen Carter was supposed to be a franchise changing player. Williams is good. Jordan Davis was a gamble (I didn't like trading up and giving up 2 picks) but we always knew it was a risk/reward scenario.
  • Huff was supposed to replace Reddick's production.
  • We assumed they were going to trade either Sweat or Reddick, because Reddick wanted more money he was gone.
  • Baun was a good signing.
  • People liked the Nolan Smith pick at the time.

If Fangio is such an old school, tough talking guy who holds them accountable, how does he watch that mess of a defense last night and not shake things up? Philly fans love when a coach talks tough to the media. Yeah, that's great. But that last defensive drive was horrendous. They let the Falcons march down the field like they were playing 11 on 7, guys were WIDE open. There is no pass rush. There is no creativity in the play calling.

The defense isn't supposed to be the strength of this team, the offense is. But the defense also has to hold up their end.

Fangio is a fraud

On offense, even without AJ Brown they have enough weapons that they should be dominant. We were concerned about the changes on the O line. Jurgens is playing really well, Becton is good and the O line is giving Hurts enough time to drink a cup of coffee back there.

The offense is a combo of bad coaching and Hurts decisions.

The CEO Head Coach should be looking at this mess and making changes.

That was the dig on Moore that I heard from Cowboys fans.  He is not a good playcaller in the redzone.

Far cry from "It's my offense."

Even if we go 11-6..

siri gotta go. Eagles already have a team of gorgeous cheerleaders. A raccoon eyed dope wasnt needed.

Jalen did what he could and kept the offense moving with his feet, but that isn't sustainable.  He played mostly from a clean pocket last night and the run game was productive, we should've buried that team offensively.  I guess the All-22 will uncover if the receiving corps isn't getting the job done, or Hurts isn't seeing the entire field.

You mean multiple screens to our undersized punt returner in the red zone isn't a good idea?
