Watching some footage breakdown of the Falcons run game it is clear that our DTs did not protect the 2nd level and the Falcons RG was able to get to the 2nd level and knock down Baun (sometimes Dean) time and again.  There were also a few plays where our edge guys (e.g. Sweat) did not set an edge ruining the few times the DTs did manage to protect the LBs.

As for Carter, I saw at least one play where his picking a gap to shoot thru was the right move as we had a CB blitz coming which should have moved the RB into Carter.  Alas, the CB was stoned by the Falcons and did not penetrate at all making Carter look bad as the RB moved back into the vacated gap.

Who is the last young player they developed not on the OL and not a top 10 pick like Smith? I said it earlier today, but they are like the Phillies.

Phillies developed quite a few.  Bohm and Stott were first round picks, but in addition to them they have developed some really good pitching.  Suarez, Sanchez are at the top of that list.  But then there's Kerkering, Strahm (who is a way different guy than when he got here), and Ruiz.   Rojas is still getting better.  Marsh has improved since his arrival.  Even Weston Wilson and Kody Clemens are continuing to improve.

I just don't see the comparison at all.  They have signed some big money guys, but have mixed in a number of cheaper major contributors too.

Here's a fun thread to start your Wednesday! I think play 8 is the infamous facemask fix for Huff.

He says his concern level with Carter is extremely low and that with better players around him, he'll be fine. If Carter is this all-world type of player, he should dominate no matter what. Players should be better because of him.

lots of good clips and analysis on that guys x.

I do like the look of Booker - think he needs to play more.

Jordan Davis is a good player. He just doesn't play enough snaps to justify his draft position and upcoming salary. Give me a Jordan Davis pick ahead of Reagor/Barnett all day long. The upside was there.

I still think there's time to turn this around (Not SB contender, but playoff contender). It starts with better coaching and protecting the DL more than the secondary. The DL coaching has been abysmal.

I’m not a fan of trying to set up a fourth and go situation, and like Haff I hated the call live, but it was pretty well set up. Hurts just needs to run the play as designed.

And this is kind of what we saw last year… Guys not doing what they are assigned to do and it leads to chaos. I know at times a bit of improvisation is needed but plays like this need to be run as drawn up.

Sounds like Sunday will be fun

DFS this week I have Carr, Olave, Shaheed, and Kamara.

I guess you can say I'm a homer.

What’s the opposite of kool aid?

Yep, my expectations are gone now.  They might win the division or they might finish 8-8 but they aren't making a deep run.

I picked 10-7.  Was going to go 9-8 but felt peer pressure here.  Jerks.

10-7 looks pretty good assuming they can hold things together and not fall apart like last year.

Easy to do when you have back to back future first ballot hall of famers under center

Maybe a majority of our team are just stupid and don't understand things.

You can teach them over and over but if they keep doing what they are NOT supposed to do then we have a problem.

Fran should just go off. He doesn’t work for the eagles anymore. He doesn’t have to be Dave spadaro. He can be evil spadaro

For those of us fortunate enough to have witnessed off the record Dave, it's pretty glorious.  Hearing "He sucks, can't play football" is like seeing a unicorn in the wild

Any run call that has Hurts running E-W, and not N-S, should be scrapped.

You mean, you’re not inspired but Hurts running towards the sidelines and self sacking himself for a 2 yard loss?

Would you rather trade for a d lineman or an edge rusher?

I owe someone in the blog a thank you.  @vikas83 maybe?  This was my thinking too but then someone said they thought Covey would get work due to his familiarity with the offense\Hurts.  I switched Dotson for Covey allowing me to move up to London from Pitts and did well on my showdown.  How well?  Tripled my money!  That's right I went from $1 to $3  :flex:

I know it's a huge part of his style but I'd rather they just give the ball to Barkley

Though they seem to be limiting Barkley's snaps big time

You're welcome. I did say I thought Covey would see targets given his familiarity.
