can also use the chiefs game where if MVS didn’t drop a wide open touchdown pass they likely lose that game

Ah yes, the ole "luck vs fortune" debate. A blog classic!

I know it's a huge part of his style but I'd rather they just give the ball to Barkley

Though they seem to be limiting Barkley's snaps big time

Barkley is on pace for close to 400 carries for the season and has played 85% of the snaps. They are using him a lot. Probably too much.

Including his receptions he's on pace for 442 touches.

You're welcome. I did say I thought Covey would see targets given his familiarity.

I'll give you a 1% cut of my winnings.  Keep the good tips coming and there's more where that came from.

Here's another way to look at Barkleys usage. He played 16 games in 2022 and had a career high in attempts. His career high is 295. He's already at 46 after two games.

Obviously it's only 2 games in but so far Barkley ranks among the NFL: 3rd in rushing attempts, 4th in rushing yards, has 2 rushing TDs along with a dozen others (Alvin Kamara has 4, he's going to feast on the Eagles terrible defense). He's 9th in the league in all purpose yards.

He had 22 rushing attempts week 1 and 24 week 2

I owe someone in the blog a thank you.  @vikas83 maybe?  This was my thinking too but then someone said they thought Covey would get work due to his familiarity with the offense\Hurts.  I switched Dotson for Covey allowing me to move up to London from Pitts and did well on my showdown.  How well?  Tripled my money!  That's right I went from $1 to $3  :flex:

Nice.  Don't spend it all in one place.   Actually... you might not be able to avoid that!   Stupid inflation.

This has me worried.  They seem to be struggling with coming up with one game plan in a week.   Can they handle two?

Which is an average of 23 per game X 17 games = 391 attempts, which is close to 400 like he said.

Yea, that's a lot.

D'Andre Swift only had 1 game with over 20 carries. Miles Sanders in his career with the Eagles only had 4 games with 20 carries or more.

🤷‍♂️ I'm of the opinion to use Barkley as much as possible. So we just disagree on his usage

Call it luck or call it good fortune that Fing ball should’ve been caught. I can tell you one thing it wasn’t the Eagles defense that cause the incompletion

Preaching to the choir, fam. I was framed as a debbie downer at the time for implying our vaunted defense didn't make life hard on the Chiefs that day or that BG didn't do much to force anything rather than Dak being dumb for taking a bad angle on his 2pt conversion attempt.

Yep. Felt like the Chiefs for like a portion of the season managed to make defenses that weren’t good look better.

It's an interesting topic to delve a little deeper into.  He's not a 23 year old that they plan on keeping around for the next 8 years.  He's basically got a 2 year contract.  If he plays in year 3, I doubt its on his current deal anyway.  But, I think the thought with him is to maximize his usage while he's at peak effectiveness, and not worrying about the long term.   The bigger question is how effective would he be in January... assuming that matters.   Frankly, if they don't lean on him heavily, it likely won't matter.

Phillies developed quite a few.  Bohm and Stott were first round picks, but in addition to them they have developed some really good pitching.  Suarez, Sanchez are at the top of that list.  But then there's Kerkering, Strahm (who is a way different guy than when he got here), and Ruiz.   Rojas is still getting better.  Marsh has improved since his arrival.  Even Weston Wilson and Kody Clemens are continuing to improve.

I just don't see the comparison at all.  They have signed some big money guys, but have mixed in a number of cheaper major contributors too.

And are they still improving? No. They have regressed this year outside of Bohm. We are definitely going to disagree on Marsh. All of this has been discussed through the year in the Phillies thread.

Point is players drafted don't improve with the Eagles coaching staff outside of OL or Smith.

I'm all for running him into the ground, just saying that's basically what they are doing already. They really aren't limiting him at all. It's only two games so a lot can change in the meantime.

He's on the same pace as Demarco Murrays last Cowboys year when they ran him into the ground with 392 carries and then stunk when he came here. Which is a little bit concerning since you kinda hope he can play next year too. History shows RB's that surpass 350+ carries usually have awful following seasons.

Yep - the cap is a big sham

Why does Hurts rarely target the easy wide open check downs?

Dude should be studying Brady tapes
