I did expect they would need time to adjust to the new schemes and all, and the lack of starters playing in preseason. But Siri is a returning HC and shouldn't need to adjust to making game management decisions.

The defense was dreadful. The offense I feel more hopeful about improvement.

The blitz there would have been fine if CJ hadn't literally just watched the dude run by him. He just stood there

Last year was a miracle for them. CMC and Kittle, both guys who usually miss time, made it through the entire season. It's catching up to them

It's a tough assignment for almost any S in that position.

Not really. At no point did mooney even pretend to stop short, CJ just THOUGHT he was going to and watched him run right by him. He had no situational awareness, he just played based off what he thought was going to happen, not what was actually happening

I know injuries will always be a part of the game, but it feels like it’s gotten out of control throughout the league the past couple of seasons. Especially this early. Is it the OTA/practice schedule, something else, or just bad luck?

More consistent? How much more consistent can he be?

So CJGJ injured his foot in a walkthrough?

Sounds like it's a preseason game...

It would be nice if he could start being consistently good instead of consistently bad

Injuries have gotten worse while the NFL is working tirelessly to make it safer?  🤔

Some of these guys might just be sitting out because the higher ups want them to.

If it was 10, 20 or more years ago most of them would play.  They would play thru injuries back then.  Today not so much.

What's funny is a lot of teams don't play starters in preseason thinking that'll decrease the injuries in the regular season

I think it’s the optics more than anything and coaches in CYA mode. If McCaffrey goes down in a preseason game, Shanahan gets crucified. If he gets hurt week 1 or 2, it’s not on him.

Desean Jackson nailed it….mediocre team with great players on the roster.

They will get no patience or benefit of the doubt from me this year. It’s the same team as last year.

I’m already tuned out. Listening to any of these players or coaches do interviews or PCs makes me want to puke.

It’s a loser team with some talented players that is going nowhere this year. I don’t need to wait until week 6 or 7 to know exactly how this ends.

This just in... Taijuan Walker still sucks.

That is all.

I'm kind of in the middle right now. I think we played a really bad defensive game, even though we didn't let them in the end zone as much as should have been expected, given the rest of our defensive play. We didn't score enough points, but we were down one of our best weapons and the one the QB has the most rapport with. I think it was a poor showing overall given what we could/should have done. I know everyone has the bad taste in their mouth from last year, but every year is a new start (for the most part).

This week is what I am using as the barometer. Does Nick still have the team's ear enough to get them to play hard this week. Given the way the Saints have been playing, we don't have to necessarily win (especially if AJ is out), we have to show up, though. If the team corrects it's mistakes and plays the run better, in particular, and Hurts has a mistake free game (I know it's a lot to ask) then I won't give up on the team this year. If they show up like they did the end of last year and it is a continuation, then I'm going to lower my expectations for the rest of the year to the mediocre team they look like right now. With the new coaches and new responsibilities, I'm not quite ready to give up after game 2.

With all that said @mattwill Eagles 27 Saints 31, bonus: first NFL interception for #27
