Wentz getting hurt in that game made the win bittersweet at the time. My brother and I both looked at each other when we got the update at the stadium that could only happen to a Philly team to lose their best player to a torn knee during an mvp season.

leaving the stadium the amount of heckling we got from Rams fans about Nick Foles was through the roof. I wish after they won I could rub it in their faces. But yeah, leaving the stadium was a disaster. My brother and I thought we were either gonna get mugged on the way to the car as it was poorly lit and bad area of town or that the car just wasn’t gonna be there when we got there.

Grier is interesting.  Eagles seem to be treating him well.  Wonder if they see him as a third QB should they want to move either McKee or Pickett before the trade deadline.  Figure Gates (C) and Jenkins (3rd TE) are who they make active.  All except Sam have NFL experience.

Stoll has a week with Moore’s offense. TE motion is part of it.  That motion makes Campbell a wildcard to be active because he was doing a bunch of the motion in TC and Dotson is going to be limited in what he has picked up.

Grier is Kellen's guy. I think he's more of an Assistant Coach and helping with scouting than being an actual player. He's 29 and only played in 2 games in his rookie year in 2019. I don't know why they would rely on him to ever be a 3rd QB when there's better guys on the street right now. They had a chance to see him in the Pre-Season and barely gave him reps or playing time.

The offensive system is not the same as last year’s. Some of the terminology has changed as well. Line play will not have changed much so Driscoll makes sense. The other guys have been here long enough to be comfortable with the new system, therefore Jenkins over Stoll.

I would think Gates gets the nod over Driscoll just due to him being the only backup C (Toth and McMahon didn't travel). I understand Driscoll played C in Miami this offseason. I'm guessing it didn't go. I don't believe he ever played C under Stoutland. I think they have enough backup G/T on the roster right now to not need Driscoll for anything.

Feels like they are treating Grier like an assistant coach in training

Id argue LA fans are worse. Particularly dodgers fans. They always get into fights. Especially when they play the padres.

Any non Eagles NFL predictions? Not records, just things that will happen.

Every year friends and I go over predictions and this year I don't really feel strongly on anything. It's very odd. I years past I had enough to where I had to cut it down.

I'm leaning toward the Chargers being the team with the biggest leap in win total, but even that I could see that being the Cardinals as well.

I think the Packers are being overhyped, but that's not really a prediction.

Daniel Jones will be benched maybe?

Oh it's way worse in LA and San Fran, but it gets more clicks to trash Philly for some reason.

Grier only comes into the picture if in fact Howie finds someone to take Pickett during the season.  Grier would be a stop gap 3rd QB insurance policy who can be subsequently be cut when Howie locates a younger developmental QB to add to the 53-man roster.

I would think it would be a very fast process if it does happen. I don't think they would even promote Grier from the PS to 53. Trade Pickett, sign Sudfeld and there you go.

Remember when folks wanted Sudfeld to start against the Falcons in the 2017 playoffs because Nick struggled at the end of the season?

Good times....

Gates will definitely be activated over Driscoll, so I agree there. Keegan was banged up and I have no idea of his health one way or another. Also he’s only worked on one side. I figure we activate eight OL, so Gates for center, either Johnson or Kinnard for tackle, and who’s the backup at guard? Probably Steen but again, I don’t know his health.

It also helps to have a veteran in the room.

Sudfeld is a no go for me.  Time to change the guard, just as they did when they drafted McKee

IF a QB gets hurts in the first half of the season, then Pickett gets value. His base salary is 1M, so any team trading for him can easily absorb it.

Does anyone know of a streaming radio app for the game? I have a thing I promised to attend for the first half and won't be able to watch the video, but I'd love to listen with one of my earbuds. If I take my phone out, I don't want the people around me to see what I'm doing or have it shut off in my pocket, but a radio app could be running in the background.

I don't disagree. just throwing a name out there. I would want someone younger also but if Sudfeld just happened to be the 2024 stopgap 3rd QB it would be fine.

I agree.  McKee is a solid enough QB2 to take the risk associated with trading Pickett.

I took a look through the NFL practice squads and there wasn't a developmental QB listed whose name I recognized.  Slim pickings.

Hey now.   The guy was literally unstoppable.

Given the dearth of viable names on the practice squads across the NFL, Sudfeld might indeed be the best option.

Driscoll's NFL career has been split almost evenly between the two tackle positions and right guard. With 812 snaps at tackle and 551 at guard, Driscoll's ability to do both makes him a valuable member of any line. https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/five-things-jack-driscoll

Well, they have plenty of veterans in the OL room already.   Johnson is more than a veteran.  Mailata is a veteran.  Even Dickerson would count as a veteran in my book.  Becton gets a pass on that since he's new to the team.  Jurgens and Steen are changing positions and so they are also not in the 'veteran' place yet in my book.   But, this OL room is anything but green. (especially since the team will be wearing black and white as their uniform and helmet for this game!  :censored: )

If you told me Ryan Tannehill was living on the side of the road somewhere, I'd pick him up before Sudfeld.

@mattwill

Give me 11-6 on the year. For week one:

Packers 34

Eagles 27

Bonus...we fail a tush push

Best guess for week 1 -- Gates and Jenkins are elevated because we need a backup center. So need to deactivate 7. On offense, it will be McKee (3rd QB), Keegan and Kinnard. On defense, White is obvious, and the other 3 likely are Young, Ricks and one of Hunt/McCollum/DeJean. My guess is they deactivate Hunt, but they may want him for special teams.

I mentioned in another thread. I'd rather Ricks in uniform that Hunt. You still need "fast" guys as gunners on special teams. So you'd rather have a corner (Ricks) for that role than have a superfluous linebacker in uniform. I'm not sure Hunt offers anything that VanSumeren, Trotter, and Johnson don't already give you.

I think Hunt is a little faster than you think and Ricks a little slower. 40-times: 4.64 for Hunt; 4.60 for Ricks. Still, your argument holds if Ricks is a better open-field tackler. It will be interesting to see the actives.
