They should use him less until they figure out how to use him better.

I don't think Fangio thinks he is a fit for his defense.

AJ Absence was really felt in the playoff game against the Bucs.  When AJ played, the Eagles beat the Bucs 25-11.  People have to understand, Defenses fear AJ.  He did rip off a 60 yard TD in week 1.

People really undervalue AJ Brown. Our offense immediately became more dink and dunk without him.

One thing I have noticed is that our defense has looked a lot different than what Miami ran last year. The dolphins dropped their edge rushers into coverage a lot and rushed their inside lbs.

Against the Saints the Eagles dropped an edge into coverage once. When they brought a lb, it was always as a fifth rusher, usually Baun off the edge.

So Fangio definitely has concerns about Huff and Smith in coverage, which hampers our ability to create unblocked pressures, which is a key to his defense being effective.

Shame that Howie and Fangio didn't talk about this before he was signed.

its been repeatedly brought up throughout the week. Nobody else really talks about their QB doing basic things like eagles fans and twitter has this week when Hurts did it. Low bar.

Sure they do, Brock Purdy anyone?  Dak, Jones, and now Daniels?  We are Eagles centric as are the Eagles beat and fans on Twitter.  I think it is fair to acknowledge bad reads and good reads.  We have also talked about a bad read on the play where they used an uneven front and Hurts ran that direction as a bad read.   We dissect plays, good and bad after every game and on offense, the QB reads are a focal point, good and bad.

Not only that but we run a considerable amount of read option, a play where even a neub can see a bad read or at least what appears to be a bad read. Most teams run it rarely, if at all. As a result we think we know better than our QB1. There’s a great deal more to it of course and when we see a successful Saqoun run we oftimes don’t consider what influence those earlier ROs have on these later runs. I’ve tried to point this out but in those posts I’m working with the benefit of hindsight. Watching live I’m as susceptible as anyone else to frustration over an RO that goes for little or no gain. One thing I have not done though is join the chorus of folks demanding we get rid of it.

Interesting fantasy football option. Not so much real football but they're playing the Titans so...

Two things can be true.

AJ Brown is freaking awesome, a game changer, a top 5 WR.

And the offense should not fall off this drastically without one player. Minny found ways to scheme big plays last year without Cousins and Jefferson, the Eagles should still be able to have an explosive offense that routinely puts up 25ppg+ without Brown, and if not it's either because the coaching failed or the QB failed.

I have less issues with read-options/RPOs, and more so with WHAT we're calling.

Zone-reads where Hurts is reading the backside defender/ILB and pulling it away from the RB to run E-W doesn't work with his speed.
When we run zone-reads where Saquon is running away from the formation so Hurts can pull it N-S works.

Yea that excuse holds water when you have a #1 and no one else. We have smitty and dotson, there's no excuse for them offense to fall off a cliff without AJZ

@mattwill

Eagles 23  TB 17

Nail biter but the Birds pull it out.  Hurts with two rushing TDs.

@mattwillfeeling a letdown after last game.

Bucs 30 eagles 24

Bonus: goeddert another 100 yard game

@mattwill

Please add another prediction for me.

DeJean- PR TD.

AJ Brown and Lane are both flying to Tampa so we'll see if they play.

Tomorrow supposed to be very humid and soupy. The temp will only be 89, but the real feel will be like 97.

Welp

Good.

He needs to block out all those distractions.

And remember how to be a pass rusher again.

Most likely. I look at a player deleting social media stuff the same as a player only meeting. A desperate last ditch effort to salvage things.

Words cannot describe how meaningless social media scouting is.  It's almost always much ado about nothing.
