Just like in basketball.  Play defense with your back turned to the ball.  When the other team looks excited,  you're about to get dunked on. so jump up with your hands up

I can only assume you’re talking about man to man defense where you are defending a top offensive player, OR you’re in an isolation zone type defense, box and one, diamond and one, or similar. In any of those situations you’re not expected to provide any help side defense.

That is the only way you get by playing defense like you have described . In most cases if your man or zone doesn’t have the ball you’re playing help side defense and are using a lot of peripheral vision (to track your man and the ball) as well as audible communication to know when to close on the ball if it’s not always in sight (which it should be by the way). I’ve never heard of anyone teaching or playing defense in basketball the way you have described it. Either your coach sucked or you’re not describing what you were taught very well. 😂

Back in the stone ages I was taught to read the WR eyes; when their pupils get wider to get your arm between their hands.  Most times you’ll get a PBU.  If all else fails, do a quick grab of the forearm (a bit quicker than Bradberry did in the SB)

Similar here but I was LB not DB, our coaches taught when the white in the receivers eyes got bigger the ball was almost there. Still very difficult to defend that way. Timing, instincts, and experience are a lot of what makes a successful CB in the secondary, imo. Tough job and takes a certain mentality.

FSU has to bench DJU right? They can't keep trotting him out there. Guy is the biggest fraud.

@mattwill

PHI 17 - TB 27

Bonus - Defense 3+ sacks

Waiting to see if Vita plays before feeling good about the game. If he doesn't play, we should be able to run down their throats with minimal resistance and just have to be ok on defense.

Sanders comes across as an arrogant jerk, no doubt about it.

But he's a flat out baller, one of the most accurate, clutch, and tough QBs in the last while.

How clutch can he be coming off a last place finish?

@mattwill

Bucs 21, Eagles 18

Bonus: Hurts 2 more turnovers

I’m surprised nothing has came out about Lane Johnson yet. His situation is cut and dry, either he got cleared or didn’t. Shouldn’t be a game time decision.

It was an equally ridiculous way of doing things to the way DBs are not taught to look for the ball.

Lane not playing

No lane, smith or brown…not much reason to watch today

This probably would have been the one week Devin White would be active too

@mattwill

Eagles 20

Bucs 23

Bonus: Mitchell first INT

Well it's Eagles taking on the Bucs once more. After a thrilling win in New Orleans, the Birds are back on the road.  Bucs lead The All Time Series 12-11.   The Eagles are 1-3 Vs the Bucs during the Hurts/Sirianni Era including two playoff losses.   The Eagles haven't won in Tampa since 2013 as well.  Look, AJ is out, Devonta is out, Lane is out.  But we still have Saquon and Goedert.   Everyone will have to step up.   With that said, this Bucs teams isn't that much better than last year though they are 2-1.   They are coming off a terrible loss to Denver..   It's going to be a challenge but I think this plays out like last years Regular season game.   Birds average playoff loss and move to 3-1. (Bonus, Nick will go for more FG's this game).

BIRDS - 30

BUCS - 20

JALEN - RUSH TD

SAQUON - RUSH TD

GOEDERT - PASS TD

JAKE - FG x3

DEFENSE - INT, Multiple Sacks, Fumble

@mattwill

I have work today. Please refrain from posting about the eagles game until about 7pm.

You got your wish. Not playing 😞

Ready for the under to hit

Eagles 31

Bucs 27

 Saquon 70+ receiving yds, 80+ rushing, 150+ total yds. 1 TD each receiving and rushing.

@mattwill

If our coordinators can scheme up a good game and we can win with all the substitutes, it will be a huge confidence builder going down the road.

Please White over Irving!

A lot of Barkley today he's gonna have a big game again.

@mattwill

Eagles 30

Bucs 13

John Ross 50+ Yard TD.
