quick question besides Graham, who else on defense is a leader? Feels like Graham is the only adult in the room as slay isn’t a leader and just goes off on Twitter every time something goes wrong

I don't think he's a leader but I did like that CJGJ at least held himself accountable and admitted he needs to get a lot better.

We heard the Georgia Dawgs were all leaders with high character especially Nakobe Dean. Maybe they're still too young. But no one else stands out as a leader right now. And is BG a leader that gets in guys faces to hold them accountable? Or is he just a vocal trash talker and hypes other guys up?

Also, did it look to anyone else like we were running something closer to the Sirianni offense yesterday?

Man, I need to start saving some of these tweets I see, or posting more of them. There was a quote from Saquon and I'm paraphrasing, but he bascically said Nick needs to let Kellen run his offense.

I’d honestly deal slay at the deadline. Just go ringo and Mitchell. Let them take their lumps

I wouldn't even really put Graham as a 'leader'.   He is... and then again, he isn't.   He's an energy guy.  Cox was the leader on the DL.   Graham is too busy jawing at the opposition to 'lead'.   Which is fine... except when there's a vacuum of leadership.  Then again, that's not his responsibility either.  There should be leadership on the team elsewhere.  The rest of the DL is too inconsistent.  The LBs are shuffled constantly in and out of the franchise.  And the Dbs... There are the Young and the egocentric.   Blankenship might be the guy to take on a leadership role, but he's still too young, IMO.  CJGJ and Slay?  No way.

Interesting question: how would you rank the situations at Qb in the nfc east heading into 2025 given the current state of everything?

Daniels

Hurts

Prescott

Jones

Someone check on @Iggles25 as the Braves melting down here in the 8th inning

I look at the giants are going to be awful this year. They likely are going to pick their Qb high in the draft and be on a rookie contract. Could make the case they are higher especially if that pick hits

Hurts is the bigger problem.

Not saying Sirianni is some great coach, but no one is going to get great results with the slop Hurts is laying down.

Sirianni isn't doing him any favors.

I'd love to trade Slay and other vets. I don't see us selling though because we're not going to be 2-6 by the deadline. Even at 4-4 we'd hold.

Narrative over.

It is basically insane that despite everything, we are a Saquon drop away from 3-1. There is so much talent on this team being utilized so poorly.

It was Howie 100%.  There's no way Sirianni is hiring Patricia immediately before the season after already putting a staff together, and there's no way Sirianni is jettisoning one of his guys in the middle of his first season.

Folks need to wake up.

Siranni publicly said that he was the one responsible for stripping Desai of playcalling duties.  Patricia was hired in April of 2023.  I am pretty sure it was reported that he developed the relationship with Patricia which led to his hiring.  Further, what I believe and think has no influence on the outcome of the Eagles' season.

Joe Giglio made a point today(yes, him!) that I actually agree with and have come around on.

He said going forward unless the Eagles are 100% certain they have an elite franchise QB who's proven it through multiple years of playing like a top 5 guy. A la Josh Allen, Mahomes, etc. He's not paying a QB mega bucks again if he's the GM of the Eagles. That he'd trade them away at peak value and go draft another one and take the cap flexibility.

I don't think it's a bad strategy. If Hurts wasn't making 50m per year, maybe they sign a guy like Patrick Queen at LB. Maybe they go the extra mile for McKinney at safety.

The Eagles built their best teams with QBs on rookie contracts.

This is something we discussed briefly a few years ago with QB salaries just getting to be ridiculous. There's going to be a team who learns how to moneyball QB. With rookie QBs showing they can manage the game, invest in everything but the QB. Get superior weapons to spread the ball around to, build a great defense and then churn through QBs every 4 years. Paying average QBs $250 million isn't sustainable. The Eagles are learning the hard way to the tune of nearly 1/2 a billion dollars wasted on Wentz and Hurts.

If you gave the keys to McKee and let him get all the #1 reps and called the game to his strengths, I'd imagine the Eagles are no worse than 2-2. I'm NOT saying Tanner McKee is better than Jalen Hurts but I am saying, with elite weapons, all you need is a game manager.

If you fire Nick (and I think there is basically no chance they do it midseason), you're almost better turning to Fangio as the HC and elevating someone like Hurtt to be the DC. Fangio has been a HC before, and Hurtt has been a DC before. You can interview Moore in the offseason, but let him go the next 12 games in full control of the offense and see what he delivers.

That's a fair compromise.

How they play the first 2-3 games after the bye will tell us if they're going to be a playoff team.

With 4 games of film, both of their own players and how opposing teams attack them, Moore and Fangio have no excuse if this team doesn't play better.

Yea, it could change. But lets see how the Giants screw this up first.

We couldn't trade Slay even is we wanted to. $33mm in dead cap.

We can push back his option bonuses in a trade to lower that. But we'll just wait till 2025.

Devin White is just sitting on the bench. Trade him.

We're going to know in the 1st quarter of the Browns game. Inferior opponent, at home, and rested and (hopefully) healthy off the bye. If they come out unprepared again, the season is over.

I don’t how their GM keeps his job. Granted i do think they have a solid roster and guys at positions you want good players. Like thibs, burns, banks, Lawrence, Thomas and Nabers are all really good players at premium positions. Obviously use upgrades on OL, lb and S but if they get their Qb i think they are actually a competitive playoff team.

They can fall into winning 10 games this year on talent alone. I think the entire thing implodes because everyone knows Nick is a lame duck coach and the locker room will feel that, the heat will get turned up, etc.

On defense I’m on the "let the kids play” approach. Go with Q and Ringo at corner, have DeJean take over for Maddox, get Hunt more playing time on the line. Let Trotter get some more reps at linebacker in place of Nakobe.

As for the offense they need AJ and DeVonta back obviously. But Hurts is who he is at this point. AJ and DeVonta will be able to prop him up and make him look good at times. But he’s inherently flawed when it comes to turning the ball over.

No, we can't. His 2024 option bonus has been paid, and the 2025 isn't guaranteed so it isn't part of the dead money. This is from the restructure after 2022 -- we just took the dead money from that contract and kicked it down the line. He's $22mm of dead money in 2025 if we cut him before the league year starts, but we can post June 1 him to spread it out.
