They can fall into winning 10 games this year on talent alone. I think the entire thing implodes because everyone knows Nick is a lame duck coach and the locker room will feel that, the heat will get turned up, etc.

On defense I’m on the "let the kids play” approach. Go with Q and Ringo at corner, have DeJean take over for Maddox, get Hunt more playing time on the line. Let Trotter get some more reps at linebacker in place of Nakobe.

As for the offense they need AJ and DeVonta back obviously. But Hurts is who he is at this point. AJ and DeVonta will be able to prop him up and make him look good at times. But he’s inherently flawed when it comes to turning the ball over.

I thought they’d go 8-10 wins this year. Talent wise on offense they have enough to win 11-12 games. Defensively i thought if fangio was worth his accolades that the defense would be competent. However i figured coaching and defensive personnel would be a problem and they’d likely be around 9-8. I think they likely go 9-8.

He had more than enough opportunities to do well here. He did not. Good for him that he’s playing average ball in Houston but he’s not missed here

The last several pages of complaints ALL point to coaching. Preparation, slow starts in games for several years, fundamentals, tackling drills in practice, play design/scheme, no adjustments to what the other teams are doing, poor utilization of Barkley, etc.

Hurts has his issues. If he were playing better he would cover up for the coach's mistakes. But the biggest issue with the team is coaching in various aspects, and it starts at the top. Both coordinators are also responsible. The roster has the talent to win.

Siranni publicly said that he was the one responsible for stripping Desai of playcalling duties.  Patricia was hired in April of 2023.  I am pretty sure it was reported that he developed the relationship with Patricia which led to his hiring.  Further, what I believe and think has no influence on the outcome of the Eagles' season.

My theory has been and I will stick with it, is that howie saw the upcoming schedule being much easier than the gauntlet they just ran. Knew Desai wasn’t going to get anymore out of the defense and against better offenses like SF and Dallas. with a lot of games against poor quarterbacks coming up the defense could look better against so if he made the move to Patricia and Patricia had success, he could save face and say look the moves I made were actually good once Patricia got to DC. The only thing is it backfired and they looked worse.

The picture without the caption is really good to see.  Hurts needs to be over there with Moore looking at the tablet after every drive.  Next, I hope they're looking at the same thing and speaking the same language.

One would hope, I’ve said it for over a year now that Hurts is allergic to that thing and seeing this was at least comforting.  It didn’t look like there was much talking or reviewing though unfortunately.  He looked at some stuff, set it down and went back into staring blankly.

I get he has the knee issue. I am still shocked by how he was good first half of last year and has just completely become a bum since. Not just bad play but bad angles and just poor containment

This de facto Mets/Braves playoff game has been fantastic

Interesting question: how would you rank the situations at Qb in the nfc east heading into 2025 given the current state of everything?

Before the draft:

Washington - 4 weeks in and it looks like they got their franchise

Eagles - For better or worse, we're stuck with #1.  I'm still hopeful that not only we kick Nick to the curb, but that action ends up being a positive impact on Hurts.  Lets just say I don't believe Siriani "inspires" him.

Cowboys - Dak sucks but he's not the worst.

Giants - lolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

ehm....

I don't think it's hyperbolic to say, if Doug were here and had the same setup Sirianni has, Eagles would be 4-0.

Perhaps not hyperbolic, but certainly speculative.

That's a lot of blame for Howie with no evidence.  I think Howie tends to be hands off because if he is the decision maker, Lurie would blame him for moves that backfired.  Lurie makes the decisions. To a large extent, he's the meddler.  Howie and Lurie went into this past offseason with the idea that Sirianni would have no say in the coordinator hires.  That doesn't happen if Sirianni wasn't being blamed for the mistakes of the prior season.

For a few minutes I entertained the idea that Sirianni would get canned this week but then I said, Naah.

Clip #10 is wild. Putting Nolan out in space pre-snap! With no disguise!

He actually does a good job covering. Great throw/catch.

Yup.  The mechanics of the QB position call for quick decision making and execution.  People often confuse that with being "smart" or "dumb".  Speed of processing really comes down to how the brain functions, rather than intelligence.  Terry Bradshaw won 4 Super Bowls and is as dumb as a stick.  The NFL QB has 3 seconds or less from the snap to distribute the football; holding it longer means the QB will be taking sustained punishment.  When you consider about 1-1.5 seconds of those 3 seconds are used up by taking the snap and the 3-5-step drop, it leaves only one second left to make the first read, second read, and release the football.

All of that means an NFL QB has to have outstanding spatial awareness and anticipation.  You have to see your target getting separation before he does.  You have to visualize the top of the route before the target gets there.  Above all, you have to trust that what your eyes are seeing when you release the ball will come to fruition when the ball arrives at the target.

What helps with anticipation?  Two things.  One is mastering the playbook and offensive scheme.  Two is repetition after repetition after repetition until everything in the offense becomes second nature, and you can execute without needing to think about it.   IMO, Hurts has developed as far as his arm and his legs will allow him to.  Where he needs to improve most is mastering the scheme and getting his #3, 4, and 5 targets on the same page.

So in an AI image generator I tried "Generate a picture of Jalen Hurts doing sunset heart hands".

Someone needs to get in Howies ear and suggest he was questioning the personnel decisions.

Does the Rooney Rule exist if we just go hire Vrabel and fire Nic?

So he's cross eyed. That's the real problem when he's reading defenses.

Nolan might make a decent linebacker with his speed.. he’s not going to make it as a DE

Barkley going off last week saved him, unfortunately.

I think Howie gets most if not all the credit for trades and acquisitions that go well and they try to brush the bad ones under the rug or push blame elsewhere.

I don’t see it as a sirianni decision to just fire his coordinator without going to Howie and lurie. Considering past actions by Howie and Lurie i wouldn’t be surprised if they went to him and said it’s not good enough with Desai we think Patricia gives you a better opportunity and sirianni obliged. Especially when lurie and howie in the past has been wanting HC they have more control over.

no offense i think lurie and Jeff forced sirianni to do everything they wanted or he was out like Doug due to how bad things got offensively and defensively and the downward spiral at the end of the year. I tend to think Brian Johnson wasn’t just a strictly a sirianni hire last year either. I kind of think Howie and lurie wanted him to be it.

id also point out fangio would’ve been forced upon sirianni in 2023 if Gannon didn’t F the eagles over. So i think sirianni was allowed to hire Desai cause they kind of got short end of the stick with what was left. eventually i think Patrica being patriots way that lurie and howie admire and wanted him when the defense wasn’t good enough to their liking and thought with their acquisitions it should and would be better with Patricia
