I wonder if any future head coaching candidates would even want Hurts as their QB.

I honestly think 2022 was his ceiling and we will probably never see that from him again.

That's why I picture the scenario of the Eagles drafting QB in the 2026 draft if this season doesn't yield a playoff victory or deep run.

There are only 32 head coaching jobs, so I think certainly there are coaches wanting to get their foot in the door and will sign up knowing Hurts is the QB and has had two downward seasons in a row (if this year ends up that way).  If Sirianni is fired after this season and a new head coaching interview process happens in January/February 2025 I think a head coach will take the job -- on the assurance that he only has to give it one year with Hurts, and if his play can't be optimized or the new coach has any reservations, then the coach will be involved in evaluating 2026 QB prospects.

I don't think any worthwhile candidates will take the job without some kind of assurance they can make their own long term decision on QB, rather than tied to someone else's for the long term.

Sirianni for Pederson trade straight up - who says no?

I'm sure this will go over very well inside the locker room. Good thing CJGJ is known to be level headed and not react in any negative way.

Hurts' ceiling is 2022.  Now he is showing who he really is. He was limited coming out with accuracy.  Benches and transferred out of Alabama. Played on the clearly best team in a mediocre conference at OU.  Now, he has reverted back to playing hero ball and turning the ball over like when he started here.  Good QBs rally the troops and bring the team up in tough times.  I hope the best for him, but I think we may be seeing his typical level.

The QBs i think teams would take ahead of hurts at the moment (no particular order)

Mahomes

allen

lamar

burrow

herbert

daniels

Stroud

stafford (although his age is up there)

Goff

jordan love

Dak

rodgers

purdy

can make arguments for baker, Caleb Williams. Baker has played well and Caleb is young and rookie contract with upside. I’d say darnold would be inconsideration with how he’s playing today but i think most take hurts

Hmm nope on Stafford, Love just threw three ints and Hurts beat him, and Herbert is the most overrated player in the nfl that has done zero. Rest yup

Apple Turnover.

Except they forgot the apple.

I’m willing to wager nfl teams would take Stafford and Herbert both over hurts. Can say Herbert is overrated but I’m guessing most franchises would take Herbert over hurts. Can argue love but love also hadn’t played in 3 weeks and also threw for 4 tds against one of the 4-0 teams in the league.

Love is an enigma like Hurts…when they’re playing well, they look all world.  Both have incredibly low lows though.  Love has a much smaller sample size though, even though his 7 game tear at the end of last year was much like the back half of Hurts 22 season.

He seems to outside of games, by all accounts the teammates like him.  However on the sideline he looks like a lost puppy dog or a kid you just said no too in the toy aisle when things get tough.

All tackles? Are you practicing all types of tackles?

Oh look, I found a better option at QB

I think you could argue either way. However i think more teams would say love and since he’s got a smaller sample size of basically 1 year he has more chance to keep improving comparatively. Frankly both are on back end of top 15. So its not that great to be in front of the other.

Slay might be my least favorite Eagle ever.

Ya know... he should be the coach here, with that kind of analysis this team would be unstoppable.

Demarco Murray for me.  Slay is moving up the list though.

I didn't know that was contagious and could spread like Poison Ivy.  He should have isolated the one leg from the other.

Most frustrating thing?

The NFC is hot garbage. If we had an actual QB we could sleep walk to the SB.

Very descriptive, but definitely accurate. I think he feels the pressure of being a franchise QB with a limited skill set.
