This "team” has been so hard to watch going all the way back to the start of last season. Even the wins last year were not really encouraging because they got away with sloppy play and fortunate circumstances that didn’t instill a lot of confidence. How many weeks was it said that all they needed to do is clean up their game and then things would be fine. How many weeks did we wait for just one complete game that was impressive?! Even the somewhat good game against the Dolphins can be chalked up as a win against an even softer team than we are.
And that’s one of the issues I see with this team. When they get smacked in the mouth it’s basically over, especially on defense.

This team doesn’t have an identity and that starts with the coach. I don’t want to blame him for every damn thing that is wrong with this team, but he certainly is a main factor.
It was a mistake to give him another year, especially in the way it was done and communicated.

This team doesn’t play complimentary football and is not a "team” that has each others back when it’s necessary. How many times has the defense stunk up the joint when the offense actually did their job and vice versa?! It seems like a dysfunctional team all around. If the D actually gets stops, the offense goes 3 and out or turns the ball over.

The defense used to be an identity for Eagles football. This joke of a defense and the soft  "bend but don’t break & outdated” Fangio system needs to go. Said it last year and will say it again, if you’re going to be giving up points on almost every drive anyway, you might as well take more chances and blitz with man to man. And a good coordinator can find ways that the blitz actually gets home. Our defense has been a laughingstock since last year and keeping the same stupid Fangio system with the guru mastermind is a failure.

The offense is way too predictable and really hasn’t shown much of a rhythm for a long time. Hurts has his moments, but his issues that many have mentioned here just don’t seem fixable for him. He does the same dumb things over and over again. He wows with some really good moments, but the consistency as a good franchise quarterback just isn’t there IMO. He is probably a hard worker and wants to be "that” guy, but it’s pretty obvious that it’s just not gonna magically happen. His deficiencies at the position outway the positives. He doesn’t make the team better, he needs good players around him in order to have some sort of success. A game like this Sunday against the Bucs could have somewhat changed that narrative, but he again failed to compensate for inferior talent on his side of the ball.

It’s just too bad that a talented roster like this is going to go to waste when there is a realistic shot of going far in the playoffs.

For all of Siriannis talk about fundamentals, they need to reflect that mindset as coaches

When you have an immobile QB, don't bail him out with off coverages and easy completions.

When youre down your RT and three WRs, run the ball with your powerful OL and Pro Bowl RB and control the clock

When the opposing QB is getting rid of the ball immediately and moving his team up and down the field, adjust your coverages to what you're observing.

K.I.S.S. and don't put your team in disadvantageous situations before a ball is snapped.

If they can't do that, how on earth can we expect the players to be consistent?  They're not being put in positions to succeed on a consistent basis.

Some of the comments during the game in the blog are great. Pure heat of the moment stuff. It’s hilarious.

That was really the first time I've tried to keep up during a game.  It was definitely entertaining, especially because the game wasn't.

What bothers me the most at 6am these days is the Eagles feel like a team that doesn't hate to lose.  A competitive fire that isn't always burning.

It is a combination of the personalities of the players and the cohesiveness of the entire organization.   This is a broken organization.  It is not together.  Lurie has to be the CEO and make changes.

Two options I like to replace Howie: Eric Adams or Ray Agnew.

Options for Head coach:

Al Harris, Bobby Slowik. Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn.

Are you suggesting that Sirianni's words are hollow and the players are tuning him out?     How can that be?   I've heard he's a great leader of men and that the players all respect him and his brilliant analogies.   He's fiery!  🔥

I want to circle back to this notion of Lurie being a great judge of coach talent.   The proposed measuring stick being that every coach made the playoffs by their second year... But I wonder if that's the right standard to use.

Ray Rhodes... 10-6, 10-6, 6-9-1, 3-13.    Was Ray a great hire?   Nah.  He brought in really old players with one or two last hurrahs in the tank and when those vets fell off, the team went into a tailspin.  His 'leadership' style got old really quick and there wasn't much substance to it.  Limped into the playoffs twice, but were never contenders.

Andy Reid - I don't need to get into this.  Great hire, the only coach that lasted here.  Lots of playoff appearances, 1 Super Bowl appearance.  He had the Achilles heel of bad WR evaluations and never could seem to get that right.   Perennial contenders for a while, that always fell short in the playoffs... usually due to bad WR play and/or QB play, possibly due to bad WR play.

Chip Kelly - out of the box hire, leaving the WCO behind.  The innovative offensive revolution that was promised turned out to be 4 plays that he runs in fast succession.  Once the NFL DCs figured him out, it was over.   Good hire?   The scars left behind were real.  Yes, they made the playoffs once, but was never a contender.  And the team fractured.

Doug Pederson - Landed the only Lombardi trophy this team has won.  Great hire?   When you look at that as the outcome, the answer has to be yes.  But, if we are talking about whether or not Doug is a great coach, I think the jury says "No" and the magic sauce of 2017 was an aberration.   Wentz went downhill, Doug lost his lieutenants, and it came crashing down fairly quickly.

And now we have Nick Sirianni - similar path to Doug, but fell short in the Super Bowl.  Great hire?  Once again we see that he's completely dependent on the coordinators around him.  Lost the coordinators, lost the locker room because its just not in him and they aren't able to cover for him anymore.

So, is Jeff a great judge of head coaches?   I'd say that he's really not great.   He really got it right one time with Reid, and even he had to go elsewhere to really put it all together when he got the all-world QB, as opposed to the almost great QB.   The rest of the time the success has been more talent related rather than scheme and the schemes have staled very quickly with each of the other hires.  As they were found out by the others around the league, they weren't able to adapt and fizzled out fast.  We are seeing that with Sirianni right now.

What we see with Lurie's hires is a quick uptick, and then just as fast a drop back to the mean of where they were when the new coach was hired.  Is that a function of the new coach, or just the breath of fresh ideas and the bump from that to the locker room.  But then the freshness wears off quickly and the bump is quickly eroded.   For me, a great hire should be able to land a second contract with the team, not be fired in 5 years or less.   I don't think there's a right answer to this, but its the bye week.   Why not delve deeper into the depths of the franchise's organizational philosophy a little more.

Klint Kubiak's name has been getting some attention this year after the Saints start...of the names mentioned, Slowik paired with a really really good DC is the direction I would like to see in the league for some team next year.

WTF does this word salad mean? It’s a conditional 2nd/3rd. It’s like when Howie leaked Wentz as a conditional first but everyone else said it’s a conditional 2nd. Either way, how is he supposed to hit the snap count % missing 1/4 of the games and probably coming back on a limited basis whenever he returns?

She makes no sense unless there was some hidden term of "if you trade him to Dallas it’s a 2nd” which makes no sense for Jets to agree to and makes everyone else look completely stupid. I’m not even sure the NFL would ever let one team dictate the future decisions of another team like that.

Where do you get off? She's one of the brightest minds in sports journalism!  Remember, she recently broke "why Nick Sirianni has not kicked as much as you think he should've.  Wide right on the last one", last one being the chip shot 60 yard fg.

Sorry you can't understand this expert's "word salad".

Please no...for several reasons. Remaining contract and age being the biggest. Not to mention the lack of cap room over the next two years since the Dak contract debacle, I just don't see how DAL could possibly make this happen without a restructure of his remaining years...and they still need to attempt to extend Parsons, which I am not certain they can do without even factoring in this potential trade. I mean I am sure they could try and make it work, but at what cost and hamstringing the roster/cap for years. IDK. Maybe I am not understanding Adams' remaining contract hit. DAL has bigger issues to resolve and whomever they try to replace McC with will be stuck for a while with the results of these decisions, again IDK, but I don't think this would be a good move for DAL.

With the remaining contract how does anyone afford Adams? What am I missing? Cap hits of 44 and 45 million?

Maybe? Inquiring minds want to know...not my inquiring mind...just to be clear.

When Sirianni eventually gets let go I'm sure he could land a coaching position somewhere (not HC) in the NFL.

However I think he should look at the college route as HC.  He'd probably do well in college as he'd relate more to younger kids.  He can always use the pitch of "I was the HC of a team that went to a SB" when it comes to recruiting.

Hurts sucked Sunday, but the offensive scheme and play calling was bad too. You came into this season hoping at least one of those two things would be vastly improved. So far, neither have been.

Why do they keep running verticals on 3rd down? They did it again Sunday. And no, the "Hurts doesn't like to throw over the middle" doesn't work as an answer, because running verticals hasn't worked either. Can't even use it as a "They're sticking with what works" rebuttal. How they reflected on last year and decided "Let's run a lot of the same stuff" is an utter indictment on the whole operation all the way up to Lurie.

Better yet, they trade for Reddick and Crosby asks for a trade.   And he can be traded to the Eagles, for Bryce Huff!!!  :flex:

I don’t see much whining here of late. I do see a lot of anger and frustration, which I share.
