I think it's because people figured the defense might suck before the season so they knew the team had to have an elite top 5 offense for this team to go anywhere.

Exactly this.  The roster is built to be a top 5 offense which does the heavy lifting and helps give margin of error to a middle tier defense.

This offense, how it’s built, should be winning shootouts when necessary instead of repeatedly getting curb stomped 24-0 and 31-0 to the Bucs before the offensive does anything

Top 12 and bottom 6 based on what?

The offense is 16th in PPG

Defense is 23rd in PPG, so bottom 10

I used DVOA as it excludes strategic decisions (avoiding kicking on 4th down) and takes opponent into effect.

Either way, not great!

Agree, except for the middle tier defense. We are more of a bottom tier defense.

Either way you slice it with the offense right now, the reason for it struggling to this degree reeks of dysfunction.

Sirianni still has influence over the offense, which is why it still looks the same - then why did you bring in Moore and promise he'd have full control over the offense? Get Sirianni out of the way.

Hurts just doesn't want to run specific styles of plays like designs with routes over the middle - then why did he reportedly sour on the offense because they didn't run enough of those plays? And why don't you at least try it? What do you have to lose? A disappointing offense stays disappointing?

And if the rebuttal to that is "Well, if you think this offense is bad, wait til you see Hurts try to run this style of offense, it's going to be a disaster, the guy is going to look like a 4th string QB" ... then you need to get a new QB.

And if that is the case(and I'm not saying it is), then why bring in Kellen Moore who can't even run his own offense? Why not bring in a guy who specializes in running college style read option offenses? It seems pointless to bring in a guy like Moore if he's not going to run what he typically runs.

None of the explanations for this offense right now sound like an organization or operation functioning competently.

What’s your take against the Mets?! For some reason I think they were the toughest draw the Phils could’ve gotten.

It stinks playing a divisional opponent as they know you really well especially as the favorite in a best of 5. but the postseason the scouting reports are more in depth. They are the more talented team. Imo comes down to how they hit. The shadows for game 1 and 2 aren’t going to help either team.

At least Walker didn't make the roster.  A sure fire loss when he steps on the field.

Tbh the thing I don’t like about their lineup today is that Castellanos is batting fourth and Alec bohm is bad at fifth. Both of those guys have had more success and more comfortable batting opposite. For instance, Alec Bohm has hit in the 4 hole 443 times and he’s hitting 283. He’s only hitting the 5 hole 94 times and hitting .263. Meanwhile Castellanos has hit in the 4 hole 123 times and hitting .207. In the 5 hole he’s had 223 plate appearances and hit .306. I am guessing the reason why they flipped them is because Castellanos has more power but really i think it’s better with them flipped. Imo they really could use a 4 hole hitter this offseason behind Harper. If you move Castellanos down to 5 and Bohm to 6, the depth in your lineup is ridiculous having Stott, realmuto and marsh at the bottom 7-9

This might be the biggest bummer of the season.

Just let Kellen coach and get guys ready to play emotionally.

Football discussion is fun when we have a top 12 offense and a bottom 6 defense and all people want to do is blame the QB for all our struggles.

If we had a good qb we would have a top 3 offense and the defense wouldn't be on the field much

Two items:

1.  Reinstatement

2.  HOF Voting -- Number 1 needs to happen before Rose is eligible to be included on the ballot for votes to trigger #2

Technically, Pete Rose was given a lifetime ban.  Since that has expired, MLB should table his reinstatement for a vote among the owners this offseason.  The MLB Hall of Fame carries the least prestige, IMO, because of the subjectivity and vindictiveness that you spoke about.  To be voted in for Hall of Fame induction, the baseball writers need to include him on 75% of the ballots.  This is where the vindictiveness really kicks in.  Rose wasn't a "media-friendly" guy, so writers will hold it against him that he didn't give any of them a story on his gambling for many years.

Reinstatement should be a yes, but Manfred is the worst commissioner in major pro sports.  Getting 75% of baseball writers to put him in will be a very heavy lift.

There was an article on ESPN.COM that Pete's bookie at spring training alleged that Pete in addition to his gambling also had a fondness for underage (12-14) y.o. girls. I haven't heard or read that any place else. Something like that, if considered probably true might impact Rose's chances of getting into the H.O.F.

Eagles are

- 2nd in offensive snaps per game
- 10th in time of possession

The offense already protects the defense

Ask Jared McCain to help lay tile… entice him by having your daughter paint his nails

SCHWARBOMB!!

The offense isn't good enough. Anyone saying differently is delusional.

None of these really account for the much more fundamental issue of Hurts never getting rid of the damn ball. I hate to break it to you guys, but Shane didn't bring a new system in 2022, and Hurts was getting rid of the ball much faster. The plays didn't magically vanish, or vaporize. Hurts was throwing with anticipation, before receivers were breaking. Now he sits there like a deer in headlights.

Maybe the actual reason it looks so similar is not because "Sirianni is obviously meddling too much" but because Hurts still isn't playing with the basic fundamentals of an NFL QB. Frankly, if you had Baker Mayfield, this offense probably looks better simply because he wouldn't hold the ball for at least 3 full seconds on average in the last two seasons. And then on top of that Jalen's release is slow too, so it's even worse.
