One of my favorite moments from that season was the goal line stand against Joe Bugel's Cardinals and the D stopped them 7 straight times from the 1 yard line.  Greatest goal line stand ever.

For whatever reason, I was thinking about that stand this weekend.  Absolutely amazing.

The defensive changes were DeJean starting in the slot and Devin White getting cut.

White getting cut wasn’t a change really. Love DeJean starting. Any other news? Hunt getting more snaps over Huff?

If Randall stays healthy all year, we win the superbowl that year and you can't convince me otherwise.

Yup, if I remember that 91 Eagles D was ranked 2 overall in defensive DVOA of all time behind the 85 Bears, I have no idea how DVOA works.

Unfortunately that 91 Skins team if I remember has one of if not the best total team DVOA of all time, they were really good.

Eagles beat them the last game of the season but washington was resting a lot of guys as they already had the #1 seed locked up

Not sure eagles with randall could have beat them in the playoffs but it sure would have been fun to watch

Is it a cap wizard when all you're doing is getting the contracts done before the market hits?

Valid, but if that's all there was to it, you'd think a lot of the other GMS would be as good

Howie takes risks in that as well. We've had contracts that end up bad because he chose to give them out early

Those were the 2 changes he mentioned but there seems to be speculation of more

Really, it's more about Lurie's willingness to put cash into contracts and pay them early on vs. waiting it out.  The Cowboys delay paying players is really about cash spending.  The Eagles are spending more cash up front on contracts.

Nobody was beating Washington that year; they were an historically-great team.  The Eagles had an all-time defense, but their offense left much to be desired, even with Cunningham -- who was a great athlete but not-so-great QB.

I think analytics have their place but basing ones whole offense and defensive scheme off analytics seems foolish.

That's my position re analytics. Use it as one tool, not the be-all end-all guide.

I had a lot of hope for this D after the draft and bringing in Vic, Vic wasnt my First choice but I figured would be better than whatever that was they tried last year but theyve been miserable, they look frustrated and unmotivated and if they go out and make watson look like an actual qb win or lose this thing could go downhill quick

That Eagles team won 10 games with no offense.  My goodness, if you have an offense that could even be moderately competent we could have made a deep run.  If not a superbowl, we could have at least gotten close.  Of Randall's years, that was the year that hurt the most.

I'd like to see the following get more snaps on D

Booker
Hunt
Dejean
Brown
Ringo

However, if they're being coached the same will it actually make any difference?

@mattwill

Browns 23 eagles 21

Bonus: offense goes scoreless through the first 1.5 quarters and lose the turnovers battle again

I'm very excited to see what Cooper can do at CB.

They had some talent at the skill positions, Keith Jackson, Byars as a receiving Back, Arkansas Fred Calvin williams 2nd year but their O line was trash and their running game was atrocious.

What is amazing about that D is Jessie Small started the season until the rookie Willie T took over after week 8.

Ben smith who was playing real well went down week 10 with an ACL was replaced by Izel Jenkins and rookie Otis Smith.

Despite that they still finish as a top ever D 💪

@mattwill

Browns 27

Eagles 20

Watson lights us up and hurts has another 2 TOs

I was thinking the same.

If the coaching and scheme is still the same does it matter?

I am not sure what Trotter gives us over Dean.

Maybe but we will never know.  They had the defensive capacity to end a game for a QB.  The Eagles did beat them the last game of the season.  The Redskins did not sit their starters for the game.

Hes supposedly a bit better in coverage but not sure that checks out

Loved his Dad but im not sure JR. Is the answer

VanSumeran didnt look bad last year in limited snaps, rather give him a shot.

Hes a pretty athletic dude, why not give the guy a shot, whats the worse that could happen, he misses 5 tackles and sucks in coverage ...😒

Maybe better tackling - but the limitations are the same.

I've heard that argument.   The shame is that they never got to play at full strength and find out.

Remember, we heard that 'nobody' was beating the Patriots in their magical season where they went 18-0... then 'somebody' did.
