I think Nick knows he's coaching for his job and the back half of the season is "easy" in comparison and we're getting weapons back against a team that is giving up behind a QB it doesn't believe in any more.

Exactly.  Sometimes I listen to NFL Radio and I can tell from listening to Pat Kirwan talk about contracts that he is not a proponent of the way Howie does it; he feels like there's too much risk of dead money hits.  I think Howie gets it right a lot more than he gets it wrong; there are times for sure the Eagles get caught with dead money on their cap, but they also get guys like Mailata signed way below market rate by getting it done early.

I don't even lament Howie signing Hurts to the deal he got.  Hurts' play in 2022 warranted a large extension and the price of the QB market is always rising.  The league has adjusted to Hurts and he needs to understand better what works and what doesn't, in regards to the offensive scheme.  If Hurts can cut down on the turnovers and distribute the ball quicker, then his contract will be adequate value.

Less motion.  Play-action from under center has disappeared.  Hardly any throws over the middle.

I do believe that Moore installed 95% new stuff.

Even though I've been a detractor of Hurts' play, I'm not asking this to be glib.  Why do you think they can't run it; is it that Hurts is unable, or that he's not buying in, or he hasn't learned it sufficiently yet?

I have no idea, but there is enough evidence out there that Hurts struggles with throwing to receivers he isn't comfortable with. My best guess would be this is also things he's not comfortable with and just doesn't want to.

Hard to say.  Those needn't be mutually exclusive reasons.

• Regarding under center, I don't believe Hurts is able to turn his back to the defense, turn around, and then know what he is seeing.
• Throwing over-the-middle, to me, is just comfort/preference.  He knows how to throw a very nice go ball outside the numbers.  He seems to look for those opportunities at the expense of over-the-middle throws.
• Not sure about motion.  Let's see how it progresses when Brown and Smith are back.
