I am thankful that it wasn't at his knee.  It is being called just a tibia fracture but I don't see how it couldn't have involved his fibula.  Assuming there's no nerve damage or shortening, I do think he will get back to playing close to the same level.

Hurts is part of the issue but it's more about preparation and design.

IMO the Eagles need a minimum of an 11-win season and one playoff victory for the current head coach to remain.  As it stands right now they look like a 9 or 10-win team that isn’t likely to go far in the playoffs.  If that plays out then folks will get their wish for a new coaching staff, new philosophy, etc.

From what I’m seeing on the field in the first 5 games there will need to be some hard coaching for Hurts to buy into whatever philosophy walks through the door next.  He still looks like a player who relies almost solely on athleticism rather than study, to me.

Do you think Moore wanted Hurts to throw deep balls to Brown on second and medium on both of the first two possessions?

Or is it possible that Hurts changed the play at the LOS (like he did at the end of the game)?

He has the ability to audible and I've seen him do it. I don't think I've noticed whether he'll audible to a big play though

It was both. They put out a statement saying he had successful surgery to repair a fracture tibia and fibula.

Good point.  @EaglePhan1986 trims his pyubes once a year and keeps them in a mason jar on his spice rack, in hopes of finding a cure for crotch alopecia.

I just want to make it known I'm here for his mother and sister if they need comfort in these hard times.

Definitely looked like a both bone fracture for it to dangle like that.

During the 21 and 22 season the Eagles had 9 games over that period where they scored 35 or more points. In 23 and 24 so far they have a total of 2.

This is not a high powered offense and hasn't been since Steichen left. They are terrible in the redzone where they score a TD only 44.4% of the time once there. That's good for 25th. Last year they were at 59.7%, which was 9th.

22 they were 3rd best with 68% of their redzone trips ending in a TD.

21 they were 8th best with 62.9%

Points win games, not yards.

Can someone talk to Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson...they aren't saving anything...the trolling yesterday @ AT&T was next level, even as a Cowboy fan it was great entertainment.

In 2022, we were +8 in turnover differential and had 27 takeaways (17 int, 10 fumbles). In 2023, we were -10 and only generated 18 turnovers (16 picks, 12 fumbles). This year we are -6 and have only 2 ints all season. The offense is always on long fields.

We really need to start generating turnovers on defense. We were #4 in the league in takeaways in 2022, dropped to #23 in 2023 and are dead last in 2024.

No big leads and a mediocre run defense aren't helping.

Jonathan Allen out for the season, looks like.

Hurts audibles have resulted in some TDs this year.  It's interesting that he gets criticism for changing the called plays, but not credit for calling the audible and the play resulting in a TD.

They are still extremely inefficient when they even get to the redzone. While I don't anticipate the 44.4% to hold for the entire year, for some context last years Giants were at 44.1%. Currently, the Eagles are just a tick better than a Daniel Jones led offense when it comes to scoring TDs in the redzone. When the offense scores points the defense can be more aggressive and force QBs into bad decisions, which presents the defense with more opportunities to get those takeaways.

The offense needs to get off to a better start, especially after the bye week. The defense sure looks like it made some adjustments and they worked. What's the offense up to?

Us fans can wonder and debate who's really calling the shots, but the answer to every one of the speculations is that the coaches know the truth, and if any of them are true what are they doing about it?

  • Is Siri dictating what Moore calls?
  • Is Hurts handcuffing Moore because he can't/won't do certain things?
  • Does the front office analytics require them to do certain things?
  • Is Moore completely running the offense yet not calling a creative game like he did for previous teams?
  • Is Moore limiting plays he calls because of Hurts limitations?
  • Is Moore actually designing and calling more balanced offense but Hurts changes the plays?
  • Did Moore call more creative plays in a new offense in camp where Jalen did well, but is now calling things differently?

You know who knows the answers to those questions: the team. The coaches and players know the truth about these things. So if any of the fan speculation about the problems are true, then what are the coaches doing about it? If the QB won't run the offense the HC and OC want him to, then why aren't they doing something about it?  If there is conflict between the HC, OC and QB then the entire team will see that up close and know about it. These things would get to Howie and Lurie, and it would eventually come out from reporters.

I'd really like to see them discover some easier throws to get the offense off to a faster start. Things like slants to AJ, TE screens, curl routes to Smith. They go to these in the 2nd quarter after the requisite two 3 and outs to start the game. Get there faster.

Use the run and short passing game to open up big plays. We seem to attack backwards - try the big plays, then turn to more of a methodical attack. It feels like the Super Bowl got in everyone's head that we are some bombs away, big play offense. In 2022 we were a methodical offense that beat teams down and won time of possession (Green Bay game as an example).

I think defensive turnovers are all about pass rush.

Forcing fumbles is nice, but that’s not necessarily a discernible, repeatable strength that one defense boasts over another.  There aren’t many true ball hawking DBs in the nfl.  (Granted, our DBs consistently fail to secure easy catches).

But a great pass rush consistently generates turnovers…strip sacks and interceptable throws.

We don’t get turnovers on D because we don’t have a good pass rush.

It’s been quite a few years since I watched any media related things for the Eagles outside of draft PC’s and small twitter clips…but my god, Siri i think googles motivational speeches and highlights a few words and just repeats them.  I need to watch this more often! (I just finished his locker room speech)

Answer to bullet point 1 = Yes. All others are moot.

The easy throws require sustained precision.  And I just don’t think that’s going to be Hurts.  He’s more comfortable running and tush pushing his way to first downs and throwing rainbows for Brown to run under for TDs than he is sustaining drives with the short passing game.

There is a reason these concepts have been conspicuously absent through 4 different coaches taking over the reins of the offense (Siri, Steichen, Johnson, and Moore have all had their turn calling the shots and absolutely none of them are doing it).

Don’t like nit-picking previous drafts too much because every team can do it, but there’s an alternate reality where we take Branch at 30 last year instead of Nolan Smith and the secondary moving forward includes Mitchell, DeJean, and Branch 😔

There is no alternate reality as Howie won't draft a safety or LB in the first round.  Yoiu're lucky if it happens in the second round.
