I think it's interesting prior to the 2022 season, Hurts was supposedly working with Tom House, but hasn't since. Why?

Similarly prior to 2017, Wentz worked out in the off season with Dedeaux and the best year of his career, and then hasn't since. Why?

Because they must think they have it figured out and dont need anymore training. Remember that one good year Blake Bortles had? He worked with a QB guru for that one season too and then never again. We all know how the rest of his career went

I feel like a lot of it is the FO too. Hurts used to be a guy that said liked hard coaching. Are they still coaching him hard or trying to appease their $250M investment? It certainly doesn't seem like he's getting coached hard every time Sirianni opens his mouth. It doesn't seem like he's getting coached hard every time he's sitting on the bench by himself after a turnover or a mistake.

Some coaches do better as coordinators than head coaches, it happens a lot. If Siri's role before was designing plays in the meeting room but not calling plays on gameday, he was not used to that live pressure.

People for some reason never remember 2021 when the offense looked different when Siri was calling plays vs when Steichen took over. Siri began 2021 calling the plays. Fans were upset with him for not running the ball enough, the offense wasn't efficient and struggling. The first half of the season they were 3-6.

Siri handed play calling duties to Steichen halfway through the season and they performed better and finished the rest of the season 6-2 and made the playoffs. Steichen's success continued in 2022 leading to their best season.

Steichen left, and the last 2 years have been the same regardless of coordinator. I'd like to see Moore fully run the offense his way, so we can find out if the problem truly is Hurts then trade him while he has value. Or bench Hurts and see how a backup runs the offense. Otherwise it will continue to be a guessing game of who's to blame.

We already know the problem is truly hurts.

I think that’s also an issue. I think the Eagles learned from the Carson wentz situation that they needed to have better playmakers in place to help their quarterback. And that’s why part of why hurts the amount of weapons that he does.

But go back to Michael Vick was the quarterback in 2010. Every time they have an MVP candidate type quarterback the following years they regress. Michael Vick 2010 MVP candidate. 2011 and 2012 couldn’t stay healthy and regressed. Nick Foles was not an MVP candidate but he had an amazing year. 2014 he wasn’t the same quarterback even before he got hurt. Carson West 2017 was mvp of the league until he got hurt. 2018 he came back from his injury and he was OK. He just was never great. And to be honest outside of his last half of the season in 2019 he really never played that level again. Jalen hurts was an MVP candidate in 2022. The following year he definitely regressed. It’s been like clockwork anytime the Eagles have an MVP quarterback for a year the next couple years they cant sustain it.

To be fair Vick regressed in that same season, they just started blitzing corners and he couldn't do crap. Like that Tuesday night game the vikings just blitzed corners and vick was useless

2022 Hurts threw for 247 yards a game with a largely healthy offense. This year he is at 239 yards a game while the offense has dealt with way more injuries. He is running less (about 10 fewer rushing yards a game) but that's what they signed Barkley for.

So I am just really confused how you arrive at the conclusion that we may never see 2022 Hurts again when, aside from the turnovers, we are seeing 2022 Hurts.

I had asked if you watched the team in 2022 earlier, but I won't wait for you to take the bait. I'll just go ahead and put this nonsense to bed now.

Had you watched the 2022 team you would recall the team playing lights out in the second quarter and largely coasting the entire second half. He threw 60 total passes in the 4th quarter (he's already at 45 this season) and the team would have those nice 6-8 minute drives to kill the clock and finish the game.

The reason the counting stats are "close" is because:

1) He stopped throwing the football.

2) The defense was better and gave them more possessions and/or shorter fields throughout the game.

It has nothing to do with comparable levels of play, though I will concede that's why he may have *some* additional turnovers.

He doesn't have that same luxury. He didn't have that luxury last season. His completion percentage and yards/attempt might be similar, but it means nothing when he's turning the ball over more and ultimately putting up fewer yards and points per game despite not sleep walking through the entire second half.

As for the yards per drive argument (which is silly), I would think that has to do with not having as many short fields as we did two seasons ago, but maybe I'm mistaken with that.

Back under your rock you go.

I blame Joe Webb.

Eagles go to the Super Bowl if not for that dude.

Get back out there and rub some turf on it

Putting Sydney Brown off a torn ACL on that turf. Give him the extra week. We don't have DB needs.

If true, then the problem is also the coaches and GM. If the offense is suffering solely because of Hurts then there should be a mutiny from the players wanting him benched. The coaches should be able to put their brains together and figure out how to get the best out of him.

Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns both said they will be suiting up and playing Sunday. Take it FWIW

Maybe. So they are in meeting rooms and reviewing film and analytics of what works and doesn't, he uses his power to not want to run plays that were successful and led them to a Super Bowl, but he prefers to do things that didn't work in the 2023 collapse and playoff loss, and spent the offseason with a new OC saying he wants to keep doing things that aren't working?

That narrative makes zero sense.

We seem to always have more questions than answers about this team.

I would assume if I didn’t believe in a coach and the coach that left was the one that made me better along with I just got paid that I’m gonna do what I wanna do because that coach is is gonna get fired before I’m out of here.

imo I really don’t think Jalen hurts likes sirianni. Frankly, I think he wants a new coach. Don’t think hurts believes sirianni get him to where he wants to be. Whether or not he could or couldn’t who really knows

@VaBeach_Eagle has my e-mail address, and if anyone does feel the need to communicate, he has my permission to share that address with you.

I will be happy to do that if need be, but you can also turn on your PM email notifications if you so desire. That would send you an email to alert you whenever someone sends you a PM.

To do so, just click on your name at the upper right of the board and click "Profile". On your Profile Page, click "Account Settings". In there, on the right side, click "Notification Settings". Toward the bottom of that screen, click "Messenger" and then check "Email".

If you don't want to do all of that, and since you've given your "ok", then I'm happy to provide anyone that PMs me (for it) with your email.

Yea, not sure about the thinking here. They have to be more forward thinking that that don't they?

They might already be getting his best. They already changed their offense to try to help him.

Huff saying 100% of his sacks came from him using a 4-point stance. Maybe Fangio should pop in some Hugh Douglas and Trent Cole tape.

Yup, Vic wanted to get Huff to play in base - maybe after a couple games everyone is more comfortable with him as a role player.

You can play in base in a 4pt stance, but it means you're not dropping into coverage.

Which is what Vic regularly does.

Did they? Analysts are saying the offense looks the same. Joyner blames the coaching and said the offense looks the same. Kurt Warner said it's the QB because they've had the same offense for 3 years. So which is it? They are running the same offense - Siri's offense? Or they changed their offense?

I think it's clear he doesn't like him. In interviews the last 2 years Hurts continues to say he is executing what is called, doing what he is asked to do. With the infamous "95% of the offense is new comment" he gave more context after a follow up question. He said plays in the NFL are generally the same when you look at them, but it's terminology that is different. he also said technique, like where your feet should be positioned, where you should look, how receivers run routes, stuff like that.

We of course guess and speculate but the people inside the building know the truth. Example Lane Johnson, He can't/won't come out and blame anyone specifically, but he's been under several regimes. I wonder who he thinks is responsible. Do the players think Nick is a problem? Moore? Hurts? All of them? What do Lurie and Howie think is going on? We'll probably find out if they have a losing season and what actions are taken.

Carter picked up a shoulder injury during practice yesterday.

Also looks like Slay had a setback.
