They say no concussion for McCain. He is out for tonight's preseason finale.

Sirianni basically said the offense looks the way it does because of Hurts

Imagine Andy Reid doing that

Jalen and AJ Brown both separately were asked about throwing to the middle of the field. Both said that's just how the game plays out and it's not intentional.

For 3 years?  SMH

Or 2? Yesterday e-a-g-l-e-s said that he saw something that in 2022 they threw to the middle a lot. IDK.

Clearly the stats speak for themselves on that, so they are just giving "coach speak" type answers. At least they are on the same page on that!

Anyway, as some of you are aware, The Eagles can move on from Hurts after next season.  Would be a 49 mil cap hit but it’s not something that is out of the realm of possibilities.

That said, hopefully Hurts turns it around - begins to take accountability and performs better.

I’m sure most are rooting for him because if he performs to expectations, this is a Super Bowl team.

He's definitely next man up if Siri gets the ax.

People rooting to get rid of him should want an average season, not a bad one, so we can trade him.

Ojomo has been better than Milton Williams this year.

Agree 100%.  Will be surprised if Williams re-signs with the Eagles.  Some team will give him a big contract and he will underpeform.  He's not at the Andre dillard level but it only takes one team (Eagles/Huff for example) to give out a bad contract.

Pretty much adds to the dysfunction when people are asking about who is actually in charge and why they don't do this or that in the play design

For those like me who wanted to see the PC and it's not on their YT channel yet:

https://twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1djxXrZqYpVGZ

The question was: there's been a lot of talk from analysts that it doesn't look like a Kellen Moore offense, or it doesn't look like a Nick Sirianni offense. What do you think of that discussion, like labeling a certain offense after a coach specifically?

Nick's answer: he started generic with "At the end of the day, coaches adapt to the things their players do well and try to maximize their potential."

Then he specifically talked about certain positions, but notably did not mention QB. It's probably most telling what he didn't address in that answer, the QB. He tends to know what controversy the reporter is looking for so avoids it by saying it applies to everyone. He did the same on the slow starts, he said it takes everyone including the play caller and the coach responsible to make sure they have the right personnel on the field and all that, and said yes sometimes it's the QB. (He also said they practice with a 35 second play clock to apply pressure in practice).

Anyway back to adapting to talent. He said for example when they got AJ Brown they wanted to incorporate some plays they ran to him that were successful in Tennessee. He noted the O line changes at RG and C can dictate what you can do, different players have different skill sets.

So in 2 answers he's talking about other positions and coaches not just the QB. We can read into that two ways: Hurts is the problem and he's covering for him, or Hurts is a problem but so are other factors and he doesn't want just the QB taking the blame.

Was thinking about potential EDGE players who MIGHT be available in a trade for a decent price.. I've talked before about Trey Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby, but Carl Granderson is another name that came to mind watching that debacle last night. The Saints have to be heading towards being deadline sellers. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kamara and Lattimore move on, along with Cam Jordan. Jordan is an interesting name but he's really not been a high performer the past couple seasons. Granderson would be a really intriguing piece though. Thoughts?

On another note, I haven't been in here much the past few months before the season got underway...what happened to my ol' buddy, RandomReglar?

Yeah I’d do that. Kupp never stays healthy. Usually good when he is but it’s risk. Rather have Laporta over kmet.  Higgins, DK, Jacobs is good value for kupp and gibbs

Gibbs or Kenny Walker would get the trade done. Who should I keep? I worry about Montgomery eating into some of Gibbs production

Ssssssshhhhhhh! Don't summon him!

I'm sure he knows he's likely gone by the end of the season and is tired of getting dragged because his QB can't properly or consistently play the position at a high enough level

At least to me, the generic response was "AJ did some things well in Tennessee that we wanted to incorporate into the offense etc etc etc". That's all just word salad and long talking to dance around the actual question. Incorporating some plays for a WR isn't going to change the overall look of the offense week in and week out. Same thing with the RG and C. None of that has to do with a decrease in motion, or not lining up under center, or lack of play action. All staples of a Kellen Moore offense. It does have to do with the one person who touches the ball on every single play and adapting the offense to what they think maximizes their potential.

Well said.  The lack of play action is a complete mystery to me.  Makes zero sense.

Gibbs has a better all around offense. But Walker i think gets all the goaline touches and i like his upside more cause no Montgomery and it’s charbonnet who’s not going to eat as many carries. Only thing is Walker has some durability issues. I’d prefer to keep walker but I’d do either one for that package

He's played well.

J(ag)ordan Davis on the other hand...

If he's an average pass rusher (according to the PFF chart) and an above average run stopper (which he has been at times, but not consistently), he's fine for his role.

For the novices around here:

You run play action on almost every single passing down.

At the very least - it will stall the defense (proven over hundreds of thousands of samples) - giving the QB an extra half second to throw.  (Yes, .5 seconds is a lot)

On a solid play action (especially with Barkley) you could potentially get the entire defense to bite - leading to a huge play (if everyone does their job)

It’s that simple.

Your QB has to be comfortable taking snaps under center.  This is why we don't run it often is my guess.

I have Charbonnet on my bench, so no concerns if Kenny goes down

The problem is we didn't give up extra picks and move up for average.
