Not very unpopular at all. To many of us, it seems like the Eagles run their offense on 1st and 2nd down with the hopes of getting to tush push territory. It's part of their strategy and it's pathetic IMO. You have all this money invested in WR1/WR2/TE1/RB1 and you want to run the QB sneak as much as possible. It's not a sure thing anymore as Kelce was the driving forec behind it. I'd much rather they use a QB sneak as a last resort rather than one of their top 10 plays.

I think someone's going to have to take over while Matt is gone (not me lol)

This game on paper shouldn't be close. I've seen nothing from the Eagles to suspect it won't be though. They haven't comfortably beat an opponent in a long time.

I don't know about that.  They have the best defensive line in the league and we are down our LT.  They have one of the best WRs in the league and we have a nonexistent pass rush.

Dumbest common complaint on the blog.  It was working every time they didn't use it last week.  Then the one time they didn't use it after Barkley ran out of bound short of the first down on 2nd down they of course don't convert which led to the blocked field goal returned for the TD.

No reason to get too cute, use the automatic play to pick up a new set of downs.

It'll be a repeat of last week. They'll win, but they'll make the game more difficult than it needs to be.

Why would they hope to get to 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1?  Doesn’t make sense to me.

If it does get to those situations it's nice that we have a play that is almost automatic, almost.

Whether it's the shove with Hurts or how they used to QB sneak with Wentz, it works more than it doesn't and results in a 1st.  That's all that matters.

I'd be fine if they gave it Barkley but it better be from under center and not shotgun.  I cannot stand when teams go for it on 4th and run the ball out of shotgun.  Usually doesn't end well.

The point of throwing deep on 2nd/1 or 3rd/1 is that an incomplete means you can still QB sneak and convert a first down.

The problem was taking a sack. Barkley didn't even need to win his rep. He just couldn't put up a 0.

I don't recall the exact wording of it but I think Nick said they basically play to get close enough to use it

If he actually believes that then he should be let go.  However most of what he says at PC is BS and shouldn't be believed.

So their plan is to get 8-9 yards on 1st, 2nd and 3rd down and then use the shove on every possession?   I have a hard time believing that is the goal.

Another thing to consider, if Barkley picks up that 1st down or picks up the blitz, good chance the final score is 27-9 and no one is ****ing this week.

Hurts struggled out of the gate after two weeks off (0 for 5) then was red hot the rest of the game without Goedert and Mailata hurt.

Calcaterra showed he can throw the ball over the middle when he has a target - Calcaterra can't block - he's basically a big WR.

Define red hot…he was off target a lot of the game.  Stats might look good, but what actually transpired is another.  He was average to above average the rest of the game.

Friendly reminder that this teams identity should be running the ball.

I know we have a QB making $200 + million and 2 great WRs but we should be running more than passing.  Use Shipley and Gainwell along with Barkley.

Establish that identity and use the passing game off that.

There was nothing to suggest that they would implode/quit the way they did when they were 10-1. Overrated? Yes. Not but 1-6 getting blownout bad.

There was though…sometimes the ‘negative’ fans have a real good idea of how realistically good the team is.  Anyone buying the ‘elite’ team hype last year wasn’t watching anything but highlights.  I’m not sure over 18 games last year they got 60 mins of just solid football outside of maybe the Bills game or the Chiefs game…maybe.

I've heard halfway decent analysis out of Cam. If him acting goofy means we see more of him and less of the other idiots they put on TV, yes please.

Also I'll always love Cam for that video where he fights like 5 guys at once 😂

Cam’s only analysis he’s ever given…’I’m a better QB now than X’

What's your guys go to for stat site?

Right, and that's a problem. That's my biggest issue with the play and their mindset towards it. It's a BIG part of their game plan.

The best way to help a struggling QB and stagnant offense that has slow starts is to run the ball and take the points on 4th down rather than get too aggressive.

The problem with running a tush push on third down is that your expected gain is one yard. Random plays generally average between five and six yards. While taking a "guaranteed” (and I use that word in quotes intentionally because there are no such things) one yard gets you a first down, it eliminates the possibility of a play which might gain you significantly more. In the long run, it’s a net negative choice.

On fourth down, the urgency for converting is far greater so it makes sense. But not on third down.

Is it just me or is Joe Tessitore really annoying?  The dude overdoes it on the emotion.

Should be used predominantly at the goal line. IMO

Howard Eskin said he heard the other day Eagles could be interested in Von Miller at the trade deadline. Coincidently, some NFL writer today proposed a Von Miller to Eagles trade for a 3rd. I really hope this is nonsense because I would hate to burn our last 3rd on him. It’s bad enough we already traded our highest 3rd on Dotson.
