Is AV a problem? I was very 'meh' on the hire initially, but did warm up to him over the course of last season. I'm starting to wonder if my initial instincts were correct, though, and we've seen his peak as a good but not great coach who can get you into the playoffs and maybe win a round or two but doesn't have the stuff to take them the distance. It seems like these issues would be more scheme-related since the talent seems to be there.

Not sure how you can come to this conclusion after 4 games and all the injuries they’ve already had...

I haven't come to a conclusion. I'm asking for input. The injuries are starting to pile up, but the scoring has generally been there in spite of it. They seemed to fall off kind of early in the playoffs last year, too. It's seemed like most of their woes have be related to defense.

it's a much deeper problem than just giroux although i dont want him here either, it's the roster construction by hextall, every player he drafts it's either by defense and speed but no offensive upside, it's like they are tring to adapt the 80s, 90s grit and grind goals type of identity, which is not working now. it's all about having offensive skill which is the reason why tampa won the cup because they all have the offensive skill to win.

Tampa also has a great blue line led by the best defenseman in the league. That's the difference. We have 3 solid top 4 defensemen: provy, sanheim, and myers. We have one solid third pair d man: gustaffson (maybe 2 if ghost is healthy but you can't put them on a line together). We have one 7th d man playing on the first pair (braun) and another on the third pair (hagg). They have to rotate provy's partner in the o zone because braun is so limited offensively they generally only put them out together on d zone starts.

Niskanen wasn't great in the playoffs but at his worst he is still better than braun and hagg, he really screwed the team this year.

I've missed the last 2 losses, but anyone with eyes can see defense is the problem even in the wins. You can't give up 35+ shots a night and expect to win consistently. It's early in the season and they've gotten points in 4 of 5 games but they can't sustain this kind of performance for the entire season. Even if they did they'll get thrashed come playoff time playing like this

Agreed. The defense has been the problem. Just look at the shots against. Gus, Hagg, Braun and Friedman are fringe NHL defensemen and they’re all currently in the line up. Need Myers and Ghost back badly.

NHL will be moving from NBCSN to USA.  I wonder what will be with the local channels like NBCSP.  

Regional networks are still going to be a thing. 
 

I can’t wait until all sports are streamed. I picked up NHL.tv this year and holy ish is it awesome. I can watch the Flyers, with the pre and post game coverage, plus I can watch other games around the league, can watch old games, and if I was a few minutes late to the game I can just start from the beginning instead of having to watch live.

NHL.tv is fantastic, actually MLB.tv is really really good as well and I think even better than NHL.tv. With the MLB version you can take out all commentary and just hear ballpark noise, it's awesome. When fans are back it would be awesome to have something like that for the NHL version 

That penalty call was weak and the PK was even worse.

Me too. Which pisses me off because I pay for Center Ice. If crappy NHLN network didn't broadcast it I could watch the feed I want. I don't know why I have to watch them now. Center ice channel blacked out.

The first two games were fun. Since then it's sucked.

It's also what happens when you are out of position. I'm so done with Hagg.

The most annoying thing was the power play bruins have 2 guys DEEP in the zone forechecking against one guy and you have no one even close, so they try these stupid long passes that get knocked down immediately by the forecheckers. Same with all their passes really. Every Fing pass is a low percentage cross ice pass that gets knocked down or intercepted.

This team is playing like ish however F these refs. Fuchin hooking there in the corner.

And your "local" team. But since mine is the caps (even though they are as far away as Philly) I don't care about that. 

Oh boy. ANOTHER underperforming injury riddled Philly team. 

There's nothing they can do either until Myers is healthy, and even then we're going to have to watch 2 of braun, hagg, and gustaffson the rest of the season. Like I said the other day, Niskanen really Fed this team. 

Also, THIS is the "depth" on the blue line that forced Morin to forward? He was never stellar when he played but I cannot imagine him being any worse than these three Fing pylons

where's giroux, jvr, jake? you cant expect this team to win games when they are not showing up, all the pressure is on the younger players because they are not showing up. they need 3 elite forwards and another elite defenseman. if you are expecting york and zamula expecting to be stars overnight then it's going to hurt this team because they need time to develop in nhl because they are rookies.
