According to what's been officially released they gave up two C-130s and some number of "Little Birds" in addition to the Hawg that went down in the Gulf to save one crew member. Totally f****ing worth it.

Not escalating war that is hurting people.

Yeah from what I'm hearing he went a bit up a 7k foot mountainside, and that was given a: the injuries from ejecting, and b: his age (assuming based on his rank). It's gonna make a great movie someday, that's for sure.

I can't believe we established enough security to actually set up a FARP that far in, and not only that, but they had time to wait for new aircraft to come in. I'm not sure if there was a lot involved in keeping forces at bay, the Iranians being that inept, or some combo of the two. In my mind if I was pulling defense, I'd be worried because all it would take is one team of a-holes with one piece of well aimed tube arty and time to fire and that's that.

An old acquaintance of mine was a guy who did whatever the Navy's version of PJs are. They're just built differently, inside and out. There's no other way to describe it.

IIRC the two 130s were the newer spec ops fully loaded with bajillions worth of top of the line equipment, but again 100% worth that write off just for the mission itself.
