Is it just me or was that a terrible decision?

I didn’t know which way it was going

For sure and didn't understand how Rose fight was a split as well

Yeah, I thought that was a pretty straight forward 29-28 Rose win.

None of that is necessary Buffer

Masvidal's got to move a little more, keep some distance.

Masivdal with a full camp beats him

Maybe. I feel like Masvidal's style doesn't match well with Usman. Masvidal doesn't move enough. He allowed Usman to hold him against the fence too easily. Gotta know when to move away from the fence. Masvidal's never been a huge footwork guy. He likes to stand in there and trade.

I give credit to Masvidal on taking that fight on six days notice, but he loses that fight if he had 365 days to prepare. Usman is just the classier, better martial artist and Masvidal can't play with that style. Usman is basically the 170 lb Khabib. It's not a sexy style but he'll grapple/wrestle you to death.

It’s boring as hell. Can’t believe I stayed up to watch that.

He was pretty brutal to watch last night. I usually enjoy watching Usman fight. He did some good work against Covington. But the short notice fight impacted both Masvidal and Usman. Masvidal for obvious reasons, but Usman talked about how he had to change his strategy as well with the six days. I think he knew he could just lay on him and grapple for five rounds and walk out with the win. You can't engage in a fire-fight with Masvidal. This was just a match-up mismatch for Masvidal.

It's funny because it's pretty well-known that Dana hated Woodley's run when he was champ at 170, who has a similar wrestling style which tends to be boring. Now he's stuck with another 170 lb wrestling champ that doesn't have a style that can sell 😅

Had to watch the Volkanovski-Holloway fight again.

R1: Holloway clearly
R2: Holloway clearly
R3: Volkanovski, but very close
R4: Holloway, but even closer
R5: Volkanovski

It's insane to me that all three judges scored the 4th round for Volkanovski. I think the difference, in the judges' minds, were the takedowns for Volkanovski. I think he had one in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Holloway got right up immediately after, but I'm thinking that was the difference maker for them.

Just watched the Katter fight from last night and he just looked on a different lvl then Ige.

Yeah, Ige had a hard time getting off any offense.

Was impressed with the Alhassan-Lazzez fight and the offensive weapons Lazzez had

That was a physical fight. Chimaev was really impressive too.

I thought he was the most impressive guy on the card last night. Feels like he's the next big thing at middleweight.

Kattar was impressive last night but I think he needs to chill until the end of the year. He's had two fights in the past three months. Let that nose heal.

Fig by decision is +500. Intrigued by that.

EDIT: Was able to get it at +400.

Wow, Figueiredo looks so much smaller than he did in the last fight.

Same Fing ref from Aldo fight and now allowed a dude to be out for too long.

The most recent Aldo fight? Wasn't Godard.

Godard was super late on this stoppage though. Joe was out for at least 3 seconds.

Chimaev can legitimately win two titles at 170 and 185 if he keeps this up. He's a dangerous dude.

Yup, he's legit. Looking forward to seeing him against better competition. This fight was a gimmie though. His opponent was making his UFC debut and clearly isn't on the same level.

Conor is in an interesting spot. I think he's beyond his prime and content with the money he's made, but he's obviously still a massive draw. They essentially fed Cerrone to him back in January because they knew Cerrone was still a "name" but over the hill and it was a safe fight for Conor. Out of respect for Cerrone, I don't want to call him a "soup-can" but that's essentially what he was for McGregor. An easy win that keeps him in the spotlight and conversation.

Khabib looked so dominant against Conor and if they do that rematch any time soon, I can't see a different result coming. I think Ferguson is the perfect fight for Conor, because he's catching Tony on a decline, yet he's still a big name for Conor to go against. It'd essentially be a better Cerrone matchup for him.

The fight that I'd really want to see down the line is Gaethje/McGregor. Stylistically that fight would be fireworks with both guys being excellent strikers. That's a much better matchup for McGregor over Khabib. The unknown with Gaethje is his ground-game though. He was an all-American wrestler in college, yet hasn't even tried for a takedown in his UFC career.

My dream scenario is Gaethje beats Khabib, Conor beats Ferguson, and then they do Conor/Gaethje after that.

The first two parts to this seem to be coming to fruition. Khabib and Gaethje are fighting in October and Ferguson just called out McGregor to which McGregor tweeted "I accept" today. Nothing official yet though. Poirier is the guy on the outside here so I don't know where he fits in. He's more worthy of being in contention than Ferguson with his win over Hooker, but Ferguson is the safer fight for Conor, so I could see Dana going that route.

I really don't think Conor is going to fight Khabib again. He got dominated in the last fight and I don't see the second fight going any different. The dream scenario is still Conor/Gaethje, but Gaethje has to get the job done against Khabib first. I think that's what Conor is hoping for because he matches up against Gaethje better with it being two strikers.
