I was thinking Eagles-Packers would be Saturday night but now seeing Flyers play at home Saturday night I'm guessing it will be Sunday night now.  Bummer.  Was hoping for the Saturday night game for drinking and catching Packers on a short week.

Speed? 5.1 40 @ 363 pounds. Fast as Lane? Not even close but then, nobody else is either. A hair faster than Mailata, fwiw.

You know what I’m reminded of? When we got Peters from Buffalo. There were many on here who moaned about how many sacks he gave up there, that he was a malingerer, a locker room cancer. Turned out he was one of the best OL who ever played.

Will Becton be that good? Highly highly unlikely. Still, he has enormous talent and I seriously doubt we can draft a tackle as good in the foreseeable future.

I think it’s purely a question of money, of what we can afford and what he’ll accept.

You should know better than anyone that a 40 time for them means so little. What was his 10 yards split?

i agree and have said all along it comes down to money. But also priority. I dont place him as high as you, but thats ok

I’m actually open to a RB in the first round. Especially on this team since we already have a complete roster and the whole offense is based on the run game. I really liked the kid on the Lions, Gibbs, if he had lasted to the pick we used on Smith. Said it at the time, and was also all in on the kid from Miami… always felt an OL like ours would benefit faster, more elusive RBs.

Anyway, my issue is I need a unique combination of traits. Gibbs was a Faulk clone — speed, elusiveness and hands, yet still pretty good between the tackles. Saquon is some bizarre combination of Sanders and Emmitt… but bigger and faster than their averages.

I think where teams get in trouble is when they don’t hold out for RARE talent combinations. Jeanty is a really fun guy to watch. I think he’ll be a good player. But realistically he has 1 elite trait — balance after contact. And he’s showing this against lesser competition. If he runs a 4.3, or he was flashing elite hands, or he looked like Sayers in the open field… absolutely take him in the first. But he isn’t elite in those areas.

I think he gets overdrafted in reaction to the success the run game has had league wide this season. It’s a copy cat league and what better way to cover up mediocre QB play?

I agree the Eagles could consider a RB in round 1, but I'd personally wait another year (we are financially tied to Barkley as the main guy). My response was on Dallas being dumb enough to puck Jeanty, or any RB, in round 1. They are terrible on both lines going into next year -- Martin is done (contract over and age finally caught up to him), and DeMarcus Lawrence is gone too. Their offensive line has one good player in Tyler Smith and 4 holes. Their defensive line? Micah and...who the eff knows. Kneeland?

I was down on Dallas coming into this year based on their lack of O-Line and DTs. Now remove Martin and Lawrence and...wow.

Dallas will be picking in the top 15, possibly top 10.

I’m probably alone in this, but I don’t see him as that level of RB. He has decent size, good but not great speed. Excellent balance, yes. Not very elusive. Not dynamic as a receiver.

I wouldn’t take him in the top half of the first round, personally. In the 20’s? Absolutely.

Would hate to see him in dallas. Really good player and seems like a high character kid

Sometimes they're are extensions for one guy and not another.  Like of you'd pay Slay and not bradberry. That's bad for morale.

Something like a baun deal is 100% positive for everyone.  Morale booster

He still hasn't given out a single extension in-season to anyone the last few years. Last one I can think of was in 2021 with Goedert. Half the reason was Ertz was still lingering around unhappy about his deal so he had to get shipped out first.

If Stout wants him, they will sign him; if he is signed, it means Stout wanted him—kind of an axiom of player evaluation.

This guy did his best to tear down everything Cooper DeJean has accomplished this year.

I kid. It's pretty ridiculous the amount of camera time and blame ESPN gave this guy last night when UGA just got it handed to them by ND. On the reasons they lost, his sideline interference doesn't even make the top 10.

ESPN criticized for focus on Georgia walk-on who committed sideline penalty

If he isn't out there today he likely isn't playing next week.

I’ll be honest I don’t know how these things work bud. Like given the protocol is carried out by experts outside of the organisation do we still dictate the time scales? I.e. knowing he’s not playing this week can we just hold him out and not put him through the protocol steps?

That is my sense of what is happening, but I don’t know for sure.

As an analogy, the neurologist/doctor controls the gate, but the team decides when to approach the gate.

Yep, we are going to have to win the wild card round without Hurts.

OK you want context how about him not being great on passing downs in Philly, you want to replace one of the best RT's in the League with a guy who struggles in pass protection? And that was a concern on him coming out of college, he's always been a great run blocker and average against pass rush.

He's barely better than Steen at pass protection now having taken first team reps with Stoutland all season.

My take on Becton’s proficiency as a Guard in all phases of his responsibilities is that he has been learning a new position … a position that has to coordinate with the players on both sides, not just one side.  Run blocking is pretty straightforward, but pass blocking has to deal with stunts and blitzes.  So the learning curve is steeper.  In the recent games his pass blocking has been considerably better than it was early in the season.

He had two major injuries to his right knee, both of which involved dislocation of the right kneecap and ligament damage. He lost 2022 completely and basically played all of 2023 on one leg. The Jets (ah, the Jets) and Robert Saleh claimed he was a malingerer because they had to blame someone other than themselves. At RT he would have to plant and drive off the right knee, the damaged one that was not yet fully healed. It is now.

And finally, remember: it's the Jets.

Oh … it’s the Jets?

This is the guy lots of people around the NFL said had an attitude/personality problem!  How wrong they were.

B'hecktons presents a unique opportunity for the Eagles. We have clearly seen him rebuild a new foundation for his career this year, and he also recognizes the impact Stout and the rest of the locker room has on him. He was miserable with the jets, and can you really blame him for that? He has versatility, proven he can play at a high level, played the whole season, etc.

I don't think he's going to demand top dollar. I think him playing with this locker room reignited his love for the game.

I agree 100%.  He was in tears on the sideline after Saquon went over 2,000 yards.  Tears of joy.

Would be really really awesome. I'd tip my cap to Howie because he has turned a blind eye to the position for quite sometime which imo has hurt the defense and the team on the whole. To have a change of mindset and acknowledge that the position is important by paying 10 plus mil per year to Baum proves his change of mindset and should keep our defense as one of the best in the league. Major kudos would have to be given to Howie for this.

About Howie’s blind eye to LB, he didn’t have a DC like Fangio until now.  Fangio’s scheme puts a premium on LB play and LB versatility.

In many ways Fangio is to Baun what Stoutland is to Becton.

40 times actually seem to be a pretty good indicator of success for OL. If you’re fast as an OL, it usually means you’re athletic and your weight is "good” weight and not just lard.

Would love to add Micah to the defense but he will cost a lot and I don't see us having the cap to realistically make it happen without sacrificing other positions too much. If it could be done however, man would our defense really reach yet another level.

Nah, he's a head case. He can stay in Dallas and regress under their frustration.

That seems odd. Howie said in the 2022 SB run he didn't want to hand out extensions incase it threw off team vibes. Why would they want it this done before the end of the regular season? There is no advantage.

Could be an individual case or different situations than 2022? I don't know just guessing. We've been wondering all season if he would be extended.

Maybe Howie is taking advantage of this time heading into the playoffs to get a deal done before the offseason and he has time to think about other options. Vibes and hype are high for this team, where he joins and makes the Pro Bowl. Sign here and continue to do great things. Don't give him and his agent time to drive up price or field offers from other teams in free agency. Again I have no idea just guesses.

Saquon is definitely playing out his contract here barring an Achilles/Lisfranc type injury.

In fact, I'd bet there's a better chance he's extended than dropped after 2 years. As quickly as this off-season even.

Long term at RB, he's backed up what I've talked about for years - actual RB sized RBs are important. No more Mile Sanders/D'Andre Swift types getting brought down by arm tackles. Those guys make Kenny Gainwell look like Earl Campbell.

Well, last time we won the SB we had Big D Nick and according to Mailata we have the "Mormon Missile" wink wink. We are good ;)

Wouldn't shock me to see a Saquon extension this off-season too.

I'd like like a more physical RB on the roster for 3rd and shorts to keep him fresh.

Just read a tweet, "Penn St vs the Catholic Church is like the Jeffrey Epstein Olympics"

I'm a PSU and found this to be pretty sad but also funny
