Is everyone just content next year leaving DeJean as NCB? It was a pretty steep price to pay for a NCB but it's also likely his best spot on the field. I'm curious if they ever try him on the outside at all in the offseason. I'm still not convinced he can at the NFL level and be a high end player.

Absolutely. DeJean was born to play NCB. He’s an impact player there and slot receivers tend to have a high share of passes go to them, especially on critical 3rd and medium type situations.

He played nearly 70% of the snaps this year and that's without playing in 4 games. NCB is basically a starting position and clearly he can make a huge impact there. Trading two 2nd round picks for him (one which turned in to Mike Sainristil, who is already a very good CB2 for the Skins) for him to just be a slot CB does seem steep.

They didn't trade two picks for DeJean.  They traded 50, 53, and a later pick for 40 and 78.

Yes, for now.  He's been terrific.  Turned a weakness into a strength and can play near the line of scrimmage too.  Really like his ability to diagnose a play quickly and then get to the spot.

Wonder if Commanders go after Tyreek Hill... They have a ton of cap space and could get dangerous (pun intended) quickly

I didn't list the full trade, but part of it was their 2 2nd round picks. That trade turned in to nearly their entire draft class when you break down the additional trades made with the picks acquired.

The homerun would be if he could be an outside CB in base and slide into the slot when we go nickel, with Ringo or Rodgers (if he returns) coming in as the 2nd outside CB in nickel.

Allen's crew is in the bottom half of the league in penalties per game.  They tend to call more on the road team.

They called last week's game against the Cowboys.

Okay.  But leaving out Jalyx Hunt and the 2025 picks that Howie finagled by trading down undermines the validity of your "overpay" argument.

I said it was a steep price, not an overpay. I'm 100% happy with the trade. DeJean was one of my draft crushes and was thrilled they got him. I was also a huge Sainistril fan. Wish he had gone somewhere other than DC. They got a good one.

Who’s getting the nickelodeon game?

In run support he looks to run through the target rather than squat and wrap up.

He runs full speed to make the play but needs to get to the ball under control.

After the draft, in Jimmy Kempski's review, he calculated that the Eagles traded the equivalent of a fourth round pick to go up and get DeJean.

I would argue that Howie recouped that by trading down several times to acquire three picks in 2025.

I am looking at three risks going into the game Sunday.

1) A slow start by the offense.  It has been chronic most of the season, although it appears to be waning recently.  But Hurts will have been sidelined for three weeks and the rest of the starters are coming off a week of rest.  They need to jump on the Packers, get the lead, and make Jones insignificant.

2) Late game pass rush.  They just don't have that closer like Reddick was.  If they are protecting a one-score lead at the end of the game, who will step up and get the drive-killing sack?

3) Jake Elliott.  He shouldn't matter if the offense and defense play their game.  But his unreliability may cause Sirianni to make less than optimal choices during the game.

One of the biggest complaints from Packer fans is slow starts from their offense too. Bet 1Q and 1H under.

Where's this info coming from?

Not the local forecasts this afternoon.

So, to recap things the Giants really did officially state today:

1. The owner acknowledged the team has gotten worse each of the last 3 years

2. He then stated that there is nobody better to bring this team into the future than the HC and the GM responsible for the team getting worse every year.

3. They do not have the standard to expect a playoff caliber turnaround anytime in the immediate future

4. These decisions were made because nobody could be more "frustrated and upset than I am” about what Schoen and Daboll have produced thus far. Yes, he really said that in the interview about why he’s retaining them.

5. John Mara said Saquon should have asked him to be in the "can’t sleep” commercial, because his nieces aren’t the only actors in the family. Yes, he really said that too.
