So being behind the line of scrimmage doesn't matter?  I was wondering about that.  Then it's the same rule in most cases - forward pass is a forward pass.  Obviously if it was a lateral, then it's considered a run so you can have a man down field blocking.

College has an exception on screen plays that as long as the ball is caught behind the LOS, there can't be an illegal man downfield. I guess that's were the confusion comes from.
