Frankly I would be surprised if they win at all. Washington has caught lightning in a bottle. The defense needs to step up big this game and if Hurts can't run we're screwed.

Good to see you back, old friend.

Yeah, we are the better team and "should” win. There is something to be said about momentum and playing loose though. Both teams have won their playoff games but there seems to be a different vibe and excitement, at least outside the locker room (which of course means nothing).

We were supposed to win in 01 also, but crapped the bed completely. That was one of the most miserable days of Eagle fandom.

In Barkley and the D we trust ✌️

When Hurts and AJ Brown start and finish games this season, Eagles are 13-0.  This is of course because of the o-line, Barkley, and the defense.  But just the threat of AJ (whether they use him as much as they should in some games or not), and the threat of a possible Hurts keeper (which greatly helps Saquon), has been a puzzle that no team has solved yet.

The two wild cards for this game tomorrow… Who plays center, and can Hurts run enough to keep that threat real?

I signed up for a Cowboys message board a while ago just to lurk and see what they were saying.  Handle was Igglesfan. Never posted… but last night I did vote in a poll asking if people are happy about the new coach hire.

Today, I’m banned.

<_<

I took this from the Cowboys MB. I'm thinking you were one of the 3.

I can name the three ‘yes’ votes but will refrain. One of them doesn’t post anymore

Hype video is released.

Is there anyone on this message board that is 100% confident we will win tomorrow ? I mean absolute unwavering confidence.

I've been an Eagles fan since 93, meaning I was there before and through the McNabb era and all the NFCCG losses that were supposed to be wins, what do you think?

I felt good but that's out the window now. Worried about the refs and Hurts turning it over. What happened to the Phillies two years ago is on my mind as well.

I’m just asking. That way I could find out which posters are nuts. I’m really worried about Jayden Daniels slicing up the defence badly.

Honestly, they should win big. They are so far and away the superior team it really shouldn't be at any point. It all depends on which offense decides to show up for us. The one that can't score a TD after having the ball handed to them at the 9 or the team that scores at will.

I would LOVE for them to win big, but remember who they are playing. Every game against the Redskins is a 1 score game. They are always tight.

This Eagles team really hasn't played a complete game from start to finish all year. MAYBE the Steelers game or the Week 17 Cowboys game with Pickett and McKee.

Since 2022, the Eagles are 5-2 against the Skins, with one of those games being an OT win. It's been 6 games since the game was decided by more than 1 score and that was September 2022 with a 22-8 win. Hurts went off that game. 22-35 for 340 yards, 3 TD 0 INT. DeVonta had 8 for 179 1TD, AJ had 5 for 85 1TD, TEs were 4 for 66 1TD. Miles Sanders was the RB and had 15 for 46 and 2 fumbles.

Saquon only has 2 games with 15 or fewer carries. 14 for 66 and 10 for 84.

There are only 3 different starters since that offense. Jurgens, Becton and Barkley. WR was Pascal vs. Dotson. The 2024 offense SHOULD be better than that team. Steichen was the OC, so the advantage goes to 2022 for that. But this is the kind of game where we know Hurts can put it up. This is why I have higher expectations and consider 120 yards an extremely low bar.

We need a Vick vs. Redskins on MNF or an Eagles/Vikings Divisional game tomorrow. I want this team to just come out and dominate.

I am. No point in being scared. Also if we said we were facing Washington in the title game a few weeks back we would’ve all been licking our chops. They beat up on a 2nd string defense and now everyone seems to be overly worried. Eagles by two scores.

There’s only one position that Washington has the better player at the moment and it’s a rookie QB. Rookies are 0-5 in title games.

Do you mean 02? In 2001, I would say getting to the NFCCG and giving St Louis a fight in their dome was far exceeding expectations and far from crapping the bed.

Maybe the lack of mobility will be the impetus to get Hurts to get the ball out to his targets more quickly and decisively.

For the "Hurts is just a winner crowd"...

The overwhelming consensus is that Daniels needs to be superhuman for the Commanders to win, while the Eagles need to establish some miniscule pretense of a passing game to keep the defense honest and the Eagles will win.

I think tomorrow’s game will be determined by who turns the ball over and who doesn’t.

Cliche saying, I know. But with how the offense has been they can’t afford to give up any extra possessions. If it weren’t for turnovers, Eagles probably would have lost last week and may have even lost against the Packers.

This is the hand wringing before the storm...  Typical behavior as game day approaches.

But, recall... there were a ton of folks who said that the Packers were the worst possible draw for the Eagles in Round 1 because they were hot coming in (Complete fallacy, of course).  The Rams were also considered to be a scary opponent for round 2, because they had the best QB left in the NFC playoffs in Stafford... which was true, but that's about all they really had.  And the Eagles SHOULD have dispatched both easily.   And to a certain extent, they did, though it was more worse with the Rams... they let both hang around a bit and gave us some tense moments, against the Rams it seemed that they had put the game in a strangle hold, only to give up an easy TD drive to make it that much scarier.   I don't expect anything different tomorrow.   Its going to be tense... although I would love a reprise of Nick gutting the Vikings.

I don’t really hear that talk as much this season.

I actually thought a little bit more highly of his ‘winning’ play last season.  The defense was so horrendously bad, he literally did win some games for us last year… Buffalo comes to mind.  Yes he threw more interceptions, but that team knew nothing about how to play a complementary football….the offense was rarely in good situations…and they were poorly coached.

Yes, he’s a winner this season, but so is every player on the team.  This team plays together so much better than last year’s team.

As for Daniels… I’m looking forward to his sophomore slump.  It’s almost guaranteed to happen. I think he’s got a high ceiling, but I think he’s going to miss big chunks of seasons just because of the way his body is built.

I think there are really only 3 variables that will determine the outcome of this game.

1. Can the Eagles establish anything on offense to offset some pressure from Barkley and the running game?  Hurts running, Hurts passing and getting any one of their weapons going...any one of these things will suffice and will be enough to free up Barkley and establish a winning offense.  Really low bar here.  And this is why the Eagles are favorites.

2. Can Jayden Daniels deliver a superhuman game capturing performance?  Really high bar here.  Again, this is why the Eagles are favorites.  It's possible, but asking a lot.

3. Will the Eagles have to shuffle their OL and will this detract from the running game we are all assuming will be dominant?  In this atypical offense, Dickerson and Becton are two of the biggest weapons in our offense with the explosive openings they create on the ground.  If you pull Dickerson out of that in-line blocking, road grading role and use him as the band-aid at center...for THIS offense...that's arguably worse than going into the game without AJ Brown, who isn't utilized anyway.

Aside from the usual turnovers caveat, which always allow a team to steal a game, I think only these 3 variables will determine the outcome.
