I'm not arguing he's not efficient, though. I'm saying he's a game manager. His yards are low because his attempts are low. That's fine. It's because we're asking him to do very little. To me, that is a game manager. No one is saying that you can't win with it or be efficient with it. So no, I don't think I am.

Your statement was crystal clear … listing the five teams whose passing games were ranked below the Eagles.  It blared, "We are in the bottom quarter of the NFL as a passing offense!” If you weren’t using that stat for that purpose, what purpose were you using it for?

Arguments for Hurts winning: "It's a team game, wins are a team stat!"

When the team loses: "It's all the QBs fault, he's the sole thing holding them back!"

They expect everyone to be generational talents like Brady, Manning, or Mahomes otherwise they're just "game managers."

Though it's notable that even Mahomes has been outplayed by Jackson in multiple seasons thus far, soon to include this one as well.

Jackson can put up amazing stats in the regular season, and he is outplaying him, you are right, but Mahomes wins in the playoffs not only because he's amazing but also because he sees the field and can use his arm and brain. He finds the open guy when his primary is covered.

That's honestly the best definition of a good QB. Someone who finds the open guy when the first is covered. That's not Hurts.

@FranklinFldEBUpper Has Mann been doing the KOs all year?

All but one. Jake kicked off to start the Giants game. No idea why.

Yeah it seems the days of those QBs are gone, at least for now.

You had QBs throwing for 5,000 plus yards not too long ago.  I was thinking the way the position was going that we'd see a 6,000 yard passer but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.   Defenses have adjusted and aren't letting teams throw all over the field as much.

I mean Burrow throws for a ton of yards but his team keeps losing.

Last 5000 was only 2 years ago

There were 10 QBs throwing 4k+ in 2023

9 in 2022

10 in 2021

12 in 2020

Allen has been throwing 4k+ since 2020

I'd like to see the All 22 views of the 7 incompletions. I doubt there were guys running wide open.

Hurts actually had 8 incompletions. But one was on a failed run where he threw it away instead of just running out of bounds for a loss, which was a good play by him.  Drives me crazy when he runs out of bounds for a loss rather than tossing it into the bleachers.

He made some good third down throws.  I don't think the offensive struggles were on him yesterday

This is fair and that's what I'm more of less okay with. I lean towards if you ask him to put on a cape and be Superman he won't do it consistently, but if things continue as is and the defense continues as is, it's a winning formula

Your response is also fair, but it does beg a follow-up question … What QBs in your lifetime could/can put on a cape and be Superman consistently?

Fair. There was one yesterday where he didn't have a place to go, but how often do you see his helmet moving around looking at the field vs just looking one direction?

Did you see how many yards Lamar left out on the field yesterday? Every QB does it. Nobody is saying Hurts is a top QB and he's the reason for all the winning. Winning takes a team, and Hurts is part of that team.

Speaking of Lamar, was anyone else thankful that he didn't take off and run on the fourth down play right after DeJean tackled Henry? It looked like he had a ton of room and instead he chucked it upfield and McCollum knocked it down.

I think his presser he touched on needing to run more yesterday and he had opportunities. I thought for sure on that play he was taking off. He also said his mom went off on him about it.

Flowers was crying for flags a lot too

It is kind of frustrating that the team has these 2 very elite weapons in Brown and Smith and Hurts is 20th in passing yards (I know there have been injuries)

For decades fans have been crying "RUN THE BALL!" You hear it all the time at games when the Eagles go three and out with a couple of pass plays mixed in there. So the year we actually DO "run the ball", fans complain that our passing yardage is down.

I think we had two guys at the sticks, but yeah might've needed two more if he ran. Zack Baun effect.

Barkley is a generational talent, so no, you won’t likely be able to sign him as a free agent again.

But with that said, you absolutely CAN find a top end talent through FA or trades. CMC, Henry, Jacobs and Jones all recently switched teams.

And yes, I think Howie would absolutely use a high pick on a RB. Rumor is CMC was our top target in 2017. Howie has taken Shady and Sanders in the second round. We gave Westbrook a big contract.

Frankly, it won’t shock me at all if we take a RB in the first 2 rounds this coming draft. Gainwell is a free agent. Barkley has 1, maybe 2 years left here, and will be hitting that three zero age after, so I doubt he gets extended much if at all.

This draft is loaded at RB with big, talented, physical players who can shoulder 15+ rushes per game. It’s the perfect opportunity to get a quality prospect in here to learn behind Barkley, take some of the load off him, and provide depth in case of injury. Then in the rookie’s 3rd season he’s the starter.

A flying under the radar RB in this Draft class is the Army QB who will probably last until Day 3 or not get drafted at all.  I would be surprised if he isn’t on Howie’s UDFA radar.

I'm still unreasonably annoyed that the blatant hold on the Ravens was basically disregarded on Lamars 39 yard run.

The Eagles should have shut them out in the 2nd half, and the fact that they threw then picked up the flag is absolutely mind boggling.  It should have been 3rd and 13, no way they convert that and score a TD.

My favorite part of that was Hamilton being out, knocked out, and then comes back in the game. NFL needs better concussion testing.

I think that was a case of the reporter simply getting it wrong. It looked to me like Hamilton got hit in the gut. I was kinda surprised a few minutes later when she said he went to the locker room for a possible head injury. It didn't make sense.

We didn't have Brown and Smith for decades

Here is the moment Lamar threw the ball.  He sees Flowers with some downfield separation.  Maybe a better throw gets over McCollum.

Regarding taking off...the line to gain was the 50.  Three defenders in front with two chasing from behind.  A possibility, but would have been heroic.

I was very thankful he did knock it down. For a moment, I thought he was going to pick it off.

Not a lot, but there's a thin line between getting to his 3rd/4th progressions and wasting his ability to scramble and turn bad plays into good plays.

If a team comes along and shuts down the running game, and he can't respond by passing the ball, then I'll complain.

He's not a "one read and run" QB and he's not Kirk Cousins either.  As long as he accentuates his God given abilities and avoids turning it over, and the Eagles are winning big games, he deserves whatever number is written on his contract.
